Puakea Golf Course

Course is in very good shape. would have rated it 4 stars except for pace of play.. We played mid week at 10 AM. Took more than 5 hours to play.. Had extremely slow 5 some a couple of groups ahead of us. Called clubhouse twice to try to speed things along. They did send someone out to move things along, but pace continued to be slow. A couple of players in groups ahead quit after 12 holes because of pace of play. I am not sure I would play course again due to the slow play.

Staff very friendly , course offers many options, great views, some pin placements tough but fair. Plan to play again soon.

Great round and good value for the money. It always irritates me to show up and be greeted by rude starters or pro shop personnel that act like they are doing me a big favor to let me play and take my money. Well, not here. These folks couldn't have been nicer and it sets the tone for the round. Very well organized as well. Course conditions were good but the greens were pretty slow the day I visited. Overall it was Avery nice day of golf and the course is centrally located.

My husband and I loved playing this course. It was very well maintained and interesting. The surroundings were just beautiful.

On the island of Kauai there is plenty of courses to choose from. My son & I wanted to play on a course that was nice but would'nt break the bank so we picked the Puakea course. Reserved a tee time on golf now, and really enjoyed our golfing. The rental clubs despite being well used were a good quality brand, and as for the course, it was in very good condition. Would DEFINATELY play again

What a great course and close in town. I never would have known the course was located there, almost hidden from view. The elevated par three over a pond is a real challenge. I will play this course again!

We loved the course so much that we played 3 days while on the island.

The club house is pretty average but once you get past the first hole it is truly a beautiful course. Quite challenging as well; a truly fair test of golf. If I get back to Kauai I will definitely play Puakea again and would highly recommend it.

Course is great track with plenty of elevation changes, hole variety, and spectacular views. Staff is friendly and helpful. Fairways are wide and greens large to accommodate the wind. Greens in great shape, but not easy to read. A truly challenging yet
fun place to play. Par 3s offer great variety of shots, and there are 4 sets of tees with significant variance in distance, all in all, a great place to play, especially with the spectacular views of the surroundings.

Booked with Golf Now and got a good rate! Very enjoyable golf round.They met us at our car with a cart and were extrememly friendly and helpfull. Although I found myself in a lot of sand bunkers, but the sand was soft and easy to get out of. This was my second time playing here , first time was last week. It was a great price booked this way and so much more resonable than some of the other high rate courses. Great deal and very enjoyable!
Will definitely play here again when we come back to Kauai next year.

Excellent course, electric power carts and course play had no line ups or people pushing from behind.

I'm annual visitor to Kauai and this is consistently the best value on the island!
I suggest playing in afternoon and take advantage of lower rates.

We play this course every year. Best value on Kauai when booked through Golf Now. Staff are awesome.
When the trade winds kick in the course becomes more interesting.

The staff is very attentive and friendly. The golf course is in excellent condition and the pace play made it even more enjoyable. Course is a great value.

Almost North shore in character once you get going...first hole is flat and near the shopping center...then you go across the road and start to watch the mountain range faces...

Each hole has lush foliage surrounding it and the undulations and fair placement of the fairway bunkers and ponds added to the appeal.

The blue tees add some challenge and there was a championship tee box as well...

Fairways and greens were in very good condition...traps and water hazards are well designed. The layout is deceptive as you wind through adjoining the residential homes....

Very Good value if you can get the Golf Now deals...I greatly enjoyed the experience...

Positioned next to Costco, this course is a lovely experience and a true value. Very scenic with lots of sand traps. Back nine has you staring at the mountains and on 18 you look back and see the ocean. Carts were new and we have booked another -18 in two days..

Puakea is a great golf course that I play every time I visit Kauai. I played yesterday, 7/14/2014, and despite a couple of minor rain sprinkles, I had a very enjoyable round.
The course is challenging, yet fair. Beware of the bunkers, especially when there has been any rain. You will need to take much less sand than you are used to...or you will need to hit multiple shots to get out. Hit your putts firmly.
The 6th hole is spectacular. Downhill, through a tropical opening and over a large pond, usually with a helping breeze. The green surrounded by sand traps and jungle. Otherwise very easy, :). Choose your club wisely.

From the road, the course looks fairly flat and easy. Not so. Nice use of angles and features like ponds and high grass. Number 12 is diabolical. If you're straight, course plays well. If you're off just a touch, get ready to be creative. Greens were a little slow. Bunkers deceiving. Very soft when you enter but not so soft underneath the ball, tended to skip the club rather than blast. Had a great time, would love to play again.
