Puakea Golf Course

I'm annual visitor to Kauai and this is consistently the best value on the island!
I suggest playing in afternoon and take advantage of lower rates.

We play this course every year. Best value on Kauai when booked through Golf Now. Staff are awesome.
When the trade winds kick in the course becomes more interesting.

The staff is very attentive and friendly. The golf course is in excellent condition and the pace play made it even more enjoyable. Course is a great value.

Almost North shore in character once you get going...first hole is flat and near the shopping center...then you go across the road and start to watch the mountain range faces...

Each hole has lush foliage surrounding it and the undulations and fair placement of the fairway bunkers and ponds added to the appeal.

The blue tees add some challenge and there was a championship tee box as well...

Fairways and greens were in very good condition...traps and water hazards are well designed. The layout is deceptive as you wind through adjoining the residential homes....

Very Good value if you can get the Golf Now deals...I greatly enjoyed the experience...

Positioned next to Costco, this course is a lovely experience and a true value. Very scenic with lots of sand traps. Back nine has you staring at the mountains and on 18 you look back and see the ocean. Carts were new and we have booked another -18 in two days..

Puakea is a great golf course that I play every time I visit Kauai. I played yesterday, 7/14/2014, and despite a couple of minor rain sprinkles, I had a very enjoyable round.
The course is challenging, yet fair. Beware of the bunkers, especially when there has been any rain. You will need to take much less sand than you are used to...or you will need to hit multiple shots to get out. Hit your putts firmly.
The 6th hole is spectacular. Downhill, through a tropical opening and over a large pond, usually with a helping breeze. The green surrounded by sand traps and jungle. Otherwise very easy, :). Choose your club wisely.

Excellent course for the money. Greens were in great shape and the course was very challenging.

From the road, the course looks fairly flat and easy. Not so. Nice use of angles and features like ponds and high grass. Number 12 is diabolical. If you're straight, course plays well. If you're off just a touch, get ready to be creative. Greens were a little slow. Bunkers deceiving. Very soft when you enter but not so soft underneath the ball, tended to skip the club rather than blast. Had a great time, would love to play again.

This course was pretty awesome. Rich at the course is one of the nicest people I have ever met. He was very accommodating! The lady inside was kind of mean but again overall this place was great. Only suggestion is that if you are greater than a 15 handicap is that you bring your clubs!

At first glance, I expected little from this course near Costco. However, I was very pleasantly surprised. The course meanders through hills and valleys with beautiful views of mountains, streams, and incredible tropical foliage.

I've played Poipu Bay and the Lagoons courses as well on this trip. My favorite has been Puakea!

This course is in great condition, their greens were excellent and the cost wasn't over priced. My girlfriend and I played four rounds during our three week stay on Kauai. I highly recommend playing Puakea.

A lot of golf for your buck compared to the resort courses.

The course is in good shape. We play this course a least a couple of times every time we come over. Whether you book online or call the course you will get a good rate. There twilight rate starts at 11am, $59 includes cart. Pretty good for Hawaii. My wife enjoys playing the course also. It is not a tricky course, you play what you see, which makes it enjoyable.

Kauai's prices are high but not this course. From the drive-by observer it looks uninteresting as it is near a shopping center, BUT when you get on it you'll find it is a LOT of fun. Enjoy!

It started raining and lighting so were only able to play 9 holes. Hope to play again this week. Very nice staff. Highly recommend.

Played this course twice while on vacation. It was in good condition, but the greens were a bit slow compared to what I am used to playing.

The course offers a fair test of golf, i.e., rewards for good shots and penalties for poor shots.

I'll definitely be back to play the course again.

We got a great value price to play this course from Golf Now, but we were a little unsure if this would be one and done. The course was really very enjoyable. So much so, that we booked another tee time during our stay. The course was in very good condition. They are experimenting with another type of grass on two greens, which impacted the looks, but not the condition. There are amazing views of the Haupu and Hoary Head Mountain Ranges from every hole. The pro shop and dining are basically in trailers, so the first impression is a little under-impressive, but the course made up for that first impression. This was a very good find and we will add it to our play list for future trips.

Me and husband liked this course! I always like it when they give the ladies a little more advantage when playing with the boys. Some of our municipal courses in Hawaii don't. The fairways were well trimmed, some of the hole placements were challenging, most of the greens were nice, some slow, but lots of bunkers around greens, lucky I managed to stay out of most of them! We will play this course again when we come back!! Aloha
