The long second hole, a par-4 which doglegs left to reach this raised green, measures 439 yards from the blue tees. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/05/2022

No. 4 at Tunxis White is a tight par-3, its green guarded by water and by Town Farm Road. Par is a very good score here. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/05/2022

It’s gorgeous scenery, but a watery grave will be the fate of golf balls falling well short of green eight. Ditto for misses long or left. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/05/2022

My path to green twelve was crossed today by two families of Canada geese. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/05/2022

A pond bisects the seventeenth fairway, and may tempt big hitters to fly it off the tee–if their desire is a wedged approach. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/05/2022

Among the premier holes at Tunxis White are those with greens set on mini-peninsulas. The par-4 seventh is the first you’ll encounter. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/21/2021

Eight. Par-3, 164. The second peninsular green may give some golfers jitters on the tee. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/21/2021

Ten. Par-4, 347. My favorite hole. A ‘simple’ drive-and-pitch hole to this green, water-guarded everywhere but in front. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/21/2021

Twelve. Par-4, 376. A masterful hole--maybe the course’s best--ending on a cleverly contoured green (upon another peninsula). Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/21/2021

Four. Par-3, 176. Overdraw your tee shot and your golf ball will be deep-sixed. That’s frost you see in the shadows. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/21/2021

Bonus to get decent golf in November
Golf Now deal was outstanding - cost to play a weekend round here was unbeatable. Played the Tunxis White 18. Play was very quick as a slower group waved us thru and we had no one in front of us until our threesome caught up to a walking twosome on 16. Course was in good shape and leaves were never a problem for us. Greens were a little slow and bumpy as there was still evidence of a fairly recent aeration.
Tunis Red
Great value....not crowded....cart included...price / value could not be beat!
Pretty good deal
The area is lovely and the course a good challenge. The reason we rated the course conditions as average is that the greens were very furry and lumpy - aeration not to blame - just not in that good a shape. The rest of the course was in great shape.
A course to test your skills
This course is very well cared for. The greens are slow but in excellent condition. Water comes into play in about 1/2 the holes. They have done a nice job with numerous fountains to make the water very scenic. Overall, a challenging course with longish holes.
Good course to play when you're just looking to get on the course
Fairways are in good condition, greens and tees are well taken care of. Most holes, no need to hit driver but if you have decent control you can leave yourself with short wedges to the green. The green course is the better of the two 18 hole layouts at Tunxis, with a variety of holes and golf shots.
Excellent speed of play
White course relatively easy with some challenging holes. Condition of course was good. Speed of play was excellent. Played 18 hours in 3 1/2 hours, very good for a weekend.
Tunxis Plantation
Always enjoy this course. Very nice. Not too crowded. Course maintained well. Greens in good shape. Scenic.
Tunxis in nice shape early season
Picture perfect weather and not super busy because of Mother's Day made for a wonderful afternoon of golf with my wife. Tunxis White was in nice early season shape and greens were actually faster than they felt though not speedy. Course is not overly difficult but length of some holes can make it a little tougher. The red tees on a couple holes are actually not fair for my wife but overall okay. We were paired with another couple on the first tee who we had a great time with playing a nice relaxed round.
Great features and conditions excellent.
Excellent condition for December. Good layout with plenty of water to keep the challenge at a good level. Look forward to playing during warmer weather.
Good for the average golfer but challenging enough for the better golfer
Tunxis Plantation has 45 holes with two 18 hole courses and one 9 hole course. We played the Par 72 White Course which was excellently maintained for late fall conditions. Greens were smooth and the bunkers have plenty of sand in them.. There are several holes with approach shots over water that are quite challenging ,especially with the wind blowing which is often the case. We play these courses from March to November and they are always in very good condition. The two 18 hole courses have very different layouts and offer different challenges. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The courses have 4 sets of tees which include Senior tees.
challenging yet fair and scorable
The course was in great shape especially for this time of year! I enjoyed the open fairways that offered plenty of opportunity to gain penalty strokes in the water or leave you with a long distance sand shot. If the hole was open out of the box, rest assured you will be going for a tough green that is either small, or guarded by water or sand... or all of the above. Nice complex offering 3 different courses!
Nice Course
Like all New England golf lot of leaves. Fairways were clean but close to the greens the wind had made piles. The greens were true, slow but true.
Course was in nice shape
Crew did a nice job of keeping leaves off fairways and greens. Hadn't played here in a couple seasons, nice place. Saw a couple of "Rangers" on the course but it seems they were busier finding balls than keeping golfers' pace moving along. Five hours is a little too long for me. Hey while we're young!
Good conditions great day
Started off on the white course in a threesome behind 2 ladies. They made good time but we were fairly sure they got lost on the course. Did not see them after the 3rd. The course was in excellent shape from the tee boxes to the greens. Personally I did not see any island greens but only played the white. Very friendly staff and great condition .
Price was right !!!
Follow your specials daily but this is the first time I've taken advantage.(Won't be the last). The course was great, the weather was great, and we met two younger gentlemen who loved the game as much as we do.All-in-all,a great day.Did we mention it was a 4 hour round?
Great day of golf !!!
We played the White Course, everything was in nice shape. The greens were a bit hard to hold but they rolled very well. Tees and Fairways were also in very good condition, overall a great choice. We had not played Tunxis in many years but after the positive experience we will be back again soon.
Good maintenance and value
Great course. Nice looking and maintained well. Decent challenge for your average golfer.
Well Kept Course
I always enjoy playing here. Got a little slow but it was nice out and we had a good time. The white course is nice and open so while many times a nice easy tee shot out onto the fairway will do, there are plenty of opportunities to really try and rip it out there and go for a nice long ball. Good time overall. We will be coming back soon.
well kept, great value
While the pace of play was a bit slow, we enjoyed out round at Tunxis. Greens were hard but rolled well, Fairways and tees were plush and well kept.
