Love this course!
Fun course to play, beautifully kept and challenging. The staff is very friendly and treats you the same as they treat the men, fairly and professionally, not all courses are this way unfortunately. I am looking forward to golfing here again!
One of My Favorites
I’ve been playing here for years and will gladly drive 40 minutes from my home in Branford to play Timberlin.
The course is always in great shape and best of all the pace of play is always great
Very Good Course
I've played this course a number of times. Condition is good-could be improved especially the sand traps. Greens in good shape.
This is a fair course. I enjoy playing this course and recommend it to others.
Well Beyond Perfect
This course has everything the typical golfer could want and more. The course conditions were perfect, the staff friendly, and the overall cost and experience five star. I recommend this course to anyone who is both serious about their game or simply looking for the perfect place to play an enjoyable game of golf!!
Great day
Course in great shape. Bunkers nice. Cart paths could use some work and landscaping could be improved to add to the course's appeal.
Pleasantly surprised
We enjoyed this track quite a bit for a number of reasons. To start with the staff was great and very friendly, from the pro shop to the starter to the wait staff at the restaurant, everyone was helpful and friendly. The course itself has a nice variety of holes and is very playable, but without being too easy or mundane. If I had to come up with any con for this course, it would be that the greens were a little too flat. If the greens were a little more undulating, this course would be even more fun. We encountered some slow play here and there, but that’s to be expected on a muni. We will definitely be going back.
Pleasurable round!
Timberlin never disappoints ! From a great staff to a perfect golfing experience on the course!!
Well done ‼️
Usually good, today not so much
Pace of play was appalling. Ranger asked us to speed up play on 7th hole even though there were groups stacked up ahead of us and nowhere for us to go. Lowlight of the day was coming up to 18 and finding a group of 8 on the green. Pace is usually much better except on super busy days. Willing to give them a pass unless I see a group of 8 playing together again.
Timberlin - Great Value
I have played all over state, private & public. You just cannot beat Timberline for value. Solid challege of golf, good conditions & great staff. Then the restaurant is one of the best. Really friendly staff, good drinks & great food.
Timberlin
Course was in good shape for this time of year. Greens were ok, but should improve once the weather warms up.
Surpriingly good muni course
Many people dismiss municipal courses as unchallenging and/or poorly maintained. If that's the rule, Timberlin proves the exception. While a few holes are fairly easy for decent golfers (I wish I could place myself in that category), most holes are longer/tougher than one might expect, which makes for a good, challenging round. They are also generally well maintained - greens that are smooth and reasonably true, rough that is not ridiculously long, good fairways, and with a recent cleanup of some areas that swallowed stray balls and caused too many players too much time looking for them, it is also a forgiving course. You may slice into or through some trees, but there generally are openings to get back to your fairway without a deadly penalty for your missed shot. Staff is friendly, though not always efficient - often so chatty that a line builds up when people are trying to check in, pay, and get out to their tee time. And I've never experienced any problem from any ranger - certainly no one is overly officious in enforcing nit-picking rules. My biggest gripe about the course is the shortage of yardage markers. There's usually a 150-yard stake, but other indicators are sparse, not easily seen, or non-existent., so bring your range finder. In other areas: Course amenities are limited to a few drinking fountains and portapotties. There is no beverage cart and no soda/bottled water machines on the course. Clubhouse is adequate for 19th hole drinks/snacks. There is a "driving range" that is barely worthy of the name (3-4 carpets to hit off, no hybrids or drivers allowed). The main practice putting green is on the side of a hill and provides more challenge than you may need when warming up and trying to get a feel for green speed, etc., but another practice green is quite level. Overall, however, Timberlin is good value for the money. You'll have a challenging, though not impossible, round in a lovely setting, and it provides a good time for many levels of golfing skill.
Surprisingly good for a muni course
This course is great for average (or less) golfers like me and far more challenging, both in layout and length, than you might expect for a muni course. It's also very well maintained, though it could use a few more distance markers on most all of the fairways. Greens are well kept and reasonably true, and a few are slanted enough to add some extra degree of difficulty on those holes. Though challenging, the course is pretty forgiving - not a great number of places to lose a ball in, and if you slice on to an adjoining fairway, there are usually enough openings between trees/shrubs to give you a shot back where you belong. Main practice green very slanted so tough to warm up on. Crappy little irons-only driving range with astroturf tees. Clubhouse is minimalist, but plenty good enough for 19th hole refreshment at reasonable prices. No beverage cart on the course, no soda/water machines, and only a few drinking fountains and few portapotties. Staff is friendly but could be a bit more efficient in collecting fees when there is a line of folks trying to pay and get going. This course is enjoyable, the price is right and I'd certainly recommend it.
Nice parkland type course
Staff was friendly. They had a nice shirt sale! Course was in really nice shape at this time of the year. Some challenging holes and a few birdie holes with risk reward features. Nice layout and looking forward to a return to this course soon.
Grea t course
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed playing 18 holes at Timberlin. The lay out was nice yet some hidden challenges. We will play here again, definitely.
Nice coarse, reasonable price
Nice golf coarse, good layout, greens are in very good shape, staff was very friendly. I will gladly play this coarse again
Go somewhere else
The course layout was fine but the staff was tremendously rude. I have played this course many times and I was shocked that they treated me so poorly. They even said that because I booked a hot deal on golf now they were “making no money”. I will never book a time there again and I would suggest you stay away too.
Great place to play
Timberlin is one of those few golf courses in ct that the staff is constantly trying to improve. The conditions are always consistent and the staff are very friendly. The sand traps have soft sand and the greens are at a good speed. The restaurant is a great place to eat after the round.
early in the season
The course is not ready yet. still growing in. Weather was a bear and the wind made it more difficult. The course looks like it could be nice in a couple of weeks.
Would recommend.
