The Tradition Golf Club At Wallingford

About
The Tradition Golf Club at Wallingford is one of the most affordable rounds in the area and it has received praise as one of the best golf courses in Connecticut. The par-70 layout is player friendly enough for beginners but low handicappers will also find it to be a fun round. The holes are fairly straightforward though there are some fairways that have very narrow landing areas that will test the accuracy of even the best golfers. Numerous bunkers are strategically placed along the undulating greens and water also comes into play on the occasional hole. The golf course starts out gently but becomes progressively more challenging on the back nine. The most memorable hole on the golf course, the par-3 12th, is a water hole that features an intimidating island green.

Greens are rough…
Greens were in tough shape, lots of ball marks, prior pin locations were not put back in flush with the ground. To top it all off, greens are very fast. It was like playing on bubble wrap. Staff was very friendly and professional, and the course looks like it could be good in the future. Challenging but not overtly difficult layout. Fairways and rough were in good shape but the greens and bunkers (rocky and hard) were a wear for the worst.
Pace of Play
The course had been a favorite of mine but very poor green conditions as well as Tee box conditions and now having 3 groups on a hole is cause for concern. Of all the courses I play this has the worst green conditions caused by no one fixing ball marks. The marks are so deep it’s disgusting golfers ignore repairing these.
Divots & Ball Marks
All in all, a fun round. Challenging course, fun to play, and in reasonably good shape compared to most in Connecticut under $70. I found half the staff to be very friendly, the starter not so much. Had that ritzy club pro cockniness that is completely unnecessary when getting golfers out. For the first time in a while, I was shocked at the amount of unreplaced divots and ball marks throughout the course. I found myself repairing at least 5 marks a hole, and probably could have spent hours out there fixing others.
Great course
Heard lots of my friends talking about it never had the opportunity to play. This was the first time in really enjoyed it. Unfortunately the weather wasn't perfect but the course held up nicely and had some great holes. Restaurant was closed but looking forward to going back.
The overall course is in great shape , the only thing that lacked was in the greens. They had been aerated probably two weeks earlier. The course offers a very interesting layout with many of the holes being played Throughout the nature and its surroundings. Would definitely come back here again for another round or two
Sunday Afternoon Round
Course was in good shape, we teed off on time and pace was decent.
I’ve played here many times, the layout is a bit crazy, if you are hitting it good you will enjoy it, if not, well… lots of places to find trouble.
We had a good time, great to get out with the group.
I’d go back
Great design a lot of fun , good views, greens were good , in great shape overall , carts have nice padded seats ,
New Fav
Played here a few times. Now joined a league there. The staff are very cool. A little bit of a drive coming from New Britain but is worth it
Well groomed, not ideal course area
The course was nicely maintained and I’d love to play the course again if it wasn’t surrounded by condos and didn’t have electrical towers literally in some of the fairways. Some of the holes get so tight to each other we constantly had other golfers on our fairway hitting back towards their fairway. It doesn’t appear that they spaced groups out well either. Overall, love the course itself and they maintain it well, but it isn’t worth the frustration of poor course layout. They tried to squeeze a lot into a small, residential area.
Course review
This course played really well. Greens rolled great, the layout was great for beginners and advanced golfers. Staff was great and the golf carts were nice.
The course has challenging greens
Course was in great shape, many of the greens have a slight slope, which makes for a more challenging round
Challenging greens
Greens are quick! Beautiful job on course overall. Fresh sand in traps and plush tee boxes aren’t something you see every day. Layout offers is very unique.
