Buffalo Run Golf Course
About
Buffalo Run Golf Course is a locally acclaimed 18-hole, municipal course in Commerce City. The links-style layout covers 7,411 yards from its longest tees with a par of 72. Designed by Keith Foster, there are challenging elements such as water hazards and bunkers that come into play on the course. The wind creates difficulty on this golf course. Buffalo Run Golf Course's front nine is less challenging than the back nine but it builds up good practice for the second half of the game. One hole to note is the demanding 13th hole. It is a par-3 that has a well-placed bunker near the green.

Unfair punishment
My son and I have played this course several times in the past. This latest time, we found ourselves quite irritated by the terrible scrub brush/weeds/bushes surrounding the bunkers. We actually lost balls hit toward the bunkers in this thick mess. I think we’ll be heading to any of the other well-maintained competitor courses in the area before coming back.
Sizzling day.
Thank you for filling the waters if I'm filling the water jugs and also thank you for Carly who came around in the cart often. Other than a hit by another group, which landed me on my fanny, it was great. Plus, that was the funniest part of the time.
Challenging Layout
Buffalo Run is a course that demands accuracy and smart play. There are deep bunkers and greens that are sloped to make it difficult to keep your approach shots on the putting surface. Add some wind to the equation and you have a challenging round. The course ranger, Tom, did an outstanding job especially in the area of customer service.
Amazing conditioned course!
Long and very challenging! Deep thick unforgiving Russ surrounded by hi native grasses. Perfectly groomed greens.
Loved the length of the course and that you actually I need to be precise with your driver.
No rough, narrow fairways
First time we played this course. Starting with first hole we realized the fairways were narrow, and there was not much if any rough. If you miss the fairway, you are in weeds up to your knees, resulting in lost balls. As my son and I are high handicappers, this was more challenging that we expected.
The good: Greens were the best I had played in a long time. Fast and true. Sand traps (which were everywhere) were not hard and in good shape.
Fairways were not in the best shape but we played in a very rainy day. If you want a challenging course...and hit it straight, this would be a fun course to play.
Kevin
We were just a twosome as the other twosome canceled. Was not enjoyable playing behind foursomes. Pace of play was poor. Did not see the beverage cart until 9 green.
Exceptional for the price
Greens were in fantastic condition, fairway cuts were nice with some dry spots but overall great! loved the links themes incorporated with bunkers with long grasses on perimeter, clay light sand surface in bunkers challenge the above average sand player.
Some funky mid fairway rough like grass cuts, Par 5 12th is good example, 150 stake is in landing area that is 2nd fairway rough.... just odd.
Best shape ever
It was a beautiful day and the course was in great shape. I have played this course for many years and it was in the best shape I have ever seen. I can’t wait to play it again.
Beware of the Rough
Absolutely enjoyed playing this course! Perhaps it’s because I was only on the rough once! Once you get in the rough, say buh-bye to your ball and score on that hole. The course is in great shape. Front nine is beautiful. Back nine is also beautiful but the current development and home consumer going on takes a little bit from the views. Course is unaffected and, again, is very well aintained.
Disappointing
The golf now rate was supposed to include range balls but it didn’t, not a huge deal but the staff in the pro shop made no effort to even look into it, Bigger problem was the nearly 3 hour first nine holes which caused me to leave after nine because it was brutal.
Great course with a great staff
This was my second time at this course and it is a fantastic layout. Now I am a little bias because I came within 6” on 17 from a hole in one but it is a good course. I think the back nine is more difficult than the front. The greens roll well and the fairways are in great shape. The one thing I will say is keep it down the middle. The course has a lot of native areas just off the fairway and if your ball goes in there you need a tracking device to find it. The course is a little bit out of the way but so worth the drive. The staff is great and the food at the restaurant is good as well.
Rough is deep or hardpan
Played here today for the first time in a year. The greens and fairways get 4.5 stars. The rough gets 2 stars. You'll either be so deep you can't find it or you'll be on dirt. As long as you could stick to the fairway it was good.
