Blackberry Oaks in Bristol is a public golf course that has been recognized as one of the Chicagoland area's best courses. The course design utilizes the natural beauty and hazards of the landscape including the native wetlands, grassy prairies, and towering stands of mature oaks. Blackberry Creek also meanders through the course. In addition to the natural hazards, a heavy smattering of strategically placed bunkers was also incorporated into the design. Although it can seem intimidating, the golf course isn't overly formidable if you can manage to stay out of the sand and water. The third and 12th holes are two par 4s that are memorable for their water hazards. The third has a lake along either side and the 12th has a green that is almost entirely surrounded by water.

Great option in the western suburbs!
Blackberry Oaks is truly one of the best courses in the Western Suburbs in my opinion. The course is not long but can be challenging for all including low handicaps. Well protected greens, lots of hazards including ponds, creeks and tall fescue. Great course layout, always in great shape and the greens always roll true. The staff is friendly and very professional and the restaurant bar has great food and nice views from the outside patio overlooking the 18th hole. I'm looking forward to the new short game practice area coming later this summer! Definitely a course you want to put on your list this summer.
Always a fun course to play
Greens have been getting better over the years and the layout always offers a fun but challenging play. I would recommend this to anyone in the area that's looking to get out and hit it around. Great course for beginners to advanced.

Very playable course
I've been playing here for many years now, with the last two being more than all other course together. I think the layout of the course offers challenges, but also opportunities to score. I generally play the blues, which can add quite a bit of distance/challenge. I like that the bunkers are actually decent sand, and not that gravel that a lot of midwest courses tend to use. The employees are always friendly. Chad is an excellent instructor. I'd like to rate the course bad, so the course doesn't get crowded, but they definitely deserve a good review, and I welcome all to come out and enjoy this country retreat.

One of the best courses for your money in the area!
A real gem!!! Fun and challenging layout. Outstanding staff!
Blackberry Oaks is probably on of my favorite courses in the western suburbs. The layout is phenomanal. Challenging, yet fun. There are many holes which reward you for a well played risk shot, and penalize you for a mistake as well. The greens are a real treat to putt on. Very true and smooth. The best thing about the course is the friendliness of the staff.
Chad Johansen is the head pro there and an amazing teacher. His private lessons and his clinics that he offers through the Chad Johansen golf academy are some of the best types of instruction around. Be sure to stop by and see what the Oaks have to offer. I'm a member here and I'm happy to say it. The course gets better and better every year.

Tough but fun track
Early season so course was so-so shape. Range is decent, ball machine is a disaster. Layout is great and challenging. Fescue makes you rethink swinging out of your shoes. Par 3s are challenging and a lot of fun. Finishing hole was great.

Course is in great shape. Greens are still a little slow, but rolled true. Very enjoyable.

Blackberry Oaks
The course was pretty good conditions just a little slow on the greens but not too bad shape. I shot 84 with some big numbers but I know that I just need to improve on my distances to holes and short game for sure. My ballstriking was good yesterday I hit some incredible shots and striped pins. But yeah overall a good course to play.

Deceptive but fair
You can score on this course but you will need to keep your ball in play. Not a lengthy course but greens are very well protected. A very good challenge for the low handicapper.

Great round
There were some aeration of fairways but didn't complicate play. Greens rolled true. Food was great at 19th hole. Very good experience overall!!

Nice layout with scenic holes
Has a very nice layout that is open but with back tee locations this keeps challenging your game with interesting and unique perspectives that bring a completely different look to many holes. Always super nice staff and great conditions out here, especially this late in the season. If you have not played Blackberry Oaks, I would recommend you do, its a really fun course with a cool verity of scenic holes with creeks and trees lining fairways in the western suburbs, that's a must play!

Fair Challenge
A nice course with bent grass fairways, ample size greens that are guarded by sand bunkers, prairie grass here and there and a meandering creek.
A challenging course, yet a fair test that allows the use of most of your clubs.
Nice clubhouse, a restaurant to grab something to eat or drink and a friendly staff.

Beautiful golf experience at a low cost
The course was in great shape and has been improved by removal of much of the unplayable long grass in the rough.

They do not manage tee times
Played here three times, all during the day, during the week. Plan on 5 hrs or more, they don't manage tee times well. Course otherwise great for the price.
Thanks for the comments. We keep a very close eye on tee-times and pace of play! We haven't had a 4 1/2+ round in months. Other then our local events/tournaments/outings. Challenging but fun
Course was in great condition. Just too windy to truly say we enjoyed our round. Will play again and be more cautious of the wind. Very open to weather conditions
