Golf Advisor: Top 25 Most Improved U.S. Golf Courses (2022 #16)
Reviews
Poor condition
I have played this course several times in the past and was always very impressed especially for the price. This time the course was just in poor condition, the grass was high everywhere, the greens were very bumpy and many times you couldn't tell where the Fairway was because it wasn't much different than the rough. Hopefully the conditions improve over the course of the year because it is a very nice little course, one of the best values for the dollar around when it's taken care of
Great value course
Excellent bang for your buck at the Prairies- no frills, no fuss, just solid golf course at reasonable rates. No issues with pace of play, and better carts than lots of higher priced golf courses in St. Louis area.
Nice Challenge. Friendly staff
Course was a good challenge. Pace of play wasn't too bad.
Course was in decent shape. It helps to know the course. Fortunately I got paired up with some who knew the course and gave local knowledge. Saved me at least 5-7 strokes.
Worth checking oit.
Fun to play.
Fun course with interesting hazards. Enjoyed shorter holes with doglegs. Some holes look easy but don't be greedy. Short shots and layups pay off. Greens a bit rough but it was the end of the weekend. Good value.
May Golf
Quality course, friendly staff and very helpful. Beginning of the season so I'm sure they will have drink carts during summer months. Greens are in good shape, will probably get harded as the summer air dries them out.
Challenging little course
The course is challenging due to lots of water, trees, and hidden landing areas. The greens were in beautiful shape. The fairways and tee boxes could use some tender care. Overall, I enjoyed playing this course that was new to me.
Memories
This was the first time I had played the Prairies since shortly after they opened in 1996. It was a tournament for Mehlville high school. Memorable as a unconfirmed tornado came across the course when our foursome was furthest from the clubhouse. You should be proud of your course. Best park course in Illinois.
Review
Enjoyable round only effected by the wind. Considering it is March, the fairways were relatively "full" and the greens were in great shape.
