About
Far Oaks Golf Club in Caseyville has a unique layout with a front nine that is designed in a Scottish-links style and a back nine that plays through rolling woodlands. The links holes are framed with native prairie grasses and wildflowers while mature oak trees line the fairways on the back nine. There are plenty of elevation changes throughout the golf course, making it hard to find a flat lie. Mounding and strategically placed bunkers lurk treacherously along the greensides and there are also several holes with water. Far Oaks Golf Club is a challenging course that demands accuracy, which is most apparent on the 10th hole. Although it's not the longest par 4 on the course, it is still challenging thanks to a slew of bunkers that border both sides of the green.

Best course near downtown STL
I absolutely love this course, I live 40 minutes away but never mind the drive. The starting hole is a short par 5 to get your confidence started, followed by a fun par 3, then another par 5. The back 9 has 3 unique holes that are very fun to play. I am a 14 handicap but always play near par here, not that it's easy, it plays to my game and head too. The zoyia fairways are emaculate, they roll their greens and thus are very TRUE! Tee boxes are always in great shape. It's a great value. One of the best courses in the STL area. If you are coming into town, put this course on your list, my company had a users group meeting and stayed in the city. We carted everyone over and 100% said it was one of the best rounds they've had. Play it!
Great Golf Course
Thoroughly enjoyable and excellent value with Golf Now!
Greens are Punched 10/4/26
Avoid for next few weeks, greens have just been pinched and they are not rolling well whatsoever. They do not tell you this at all, you find out when you are already in the first green.
They had a shot gun tournament but still sent the public out, made us wait on first tee for the slowest old man golfers in the world. 3 hour front 9 bc of that.
Used to recommend but too much obvious greed by management, will avoid now.
First Time on Far Oaks
We enjoyed the course, it was more challenging for me than others in our group. The greens were just aerated and the conditions of them were not good, which will make us come back for another try.
Primo but aerated and sandy greens
Title pretty much says it all. The course was oddly wet from apparent super watering around the greens, but the 17 fairway was very squishy for some reason. Has to be overwatering because we haven't had any rain. Still, a great hot deal from Golfnow and we had a great time. Perfect weather helps! :)
Greens looked beat up….
Greens were an absolute disaster. No true roll…unrepaired ballmarks were over abundant. Time to shrink the game to those who understand course etiquette.
Far Oaks
Beautiful course. Very nice conditions. Great driving range and putting area. Staff were extremely friendly. We will visit this course again.

The course was in good shape good shape considering the recent heat wave. The staff was very friendly.
More Iniatitive Is Needed To Make This A Top 5 Course in the St. Louis Area Again
Far Oaks is one of my favorite golf courses in the St. Louis metro area. However, playing the course today left me wanting Far Oaks management to take more initiative to keep this course in the Top 5 courses in the area. I was a bit disappointed. They always send out a survey after your round and I give them constructive ideas to improve the course. Never have I seen them make any changes I’ve suggested. Why should I even complete a survey?
Far Oaks is a beautiful course but overgrown vegetation ruins the views of certain holes. These are holes 6, 11, 12 and the second shot into 18. The tee shot on 17 will soon have the same issue. This has always been a problem at this course but no one is taking the initiative to fix this.
Numerous greens are stressing and they need fans to correct this issue. Holes 11, 13 & 14.
Pace of play was poor, especially on the front nine. We saw a course marshal but nothing was done to improve this situation.
The tee markers are some of the worst you will find. They all look very similar.
On the positive side, the $48 for a weekday, senior rate is very attractive. The new carts are a nice touch too.
I will not recommend this course until I see some of these issues addressed. It’s a shame – because Far Oaks is a great golf course.
A great course for the monwy
This is in great shape. They just got new electric carts! Really nice!
First time at Far Oaks
I've played courses in Palm Desert and La Quinta and this course was very compatible with some of the courses there. Challenging in some places, forgiving in others. Overall, a very well maintained place to test your ball striking ability.
Overall - The Course Is In Good Shape
Overall, I thought the condition of the course was in good shape. We paid $48 for a weekday senior rate which is a great value for this upscale course. I would highly recommend this course.
Some greens are showing a little stress. A greenskeeper was dropping sand on any areas of the greens that were struggling. The greens had a much more of sandy base than in March, which reduced to number of ball mark smudges on the green.
Many of the par 3 tee boxes are getting beat up. A few fairways are still having some drainage issues.
The biggest thing this course needs to change is their tee markers. They all look alike and makes it extremely frustrating figuring out which tee is what color. Also, bushes/trees are starting to grow in front of hole 6 & 12. If not maintained, it will ruin the beauty of these two holes.
Good course in great condition. Another 5+ hour round
Best greens I’ve putted on in a long time. Tee boxes and fairways were great. Rough was super thick and penalizing. More of a technical course if you like that. Only hit driver 3 or 4 times. Lot of risk reward holes if you want to try. Zero chance I’d ever play there if it was cart path only tho. That setup makes for some slower play. We watched the group in front of us tee off on every hole. Pretty ridiculous back up on 16, a par 3, for a completely unknown reason. There was a group on the green, and 3 groups waiting on the tee box. Ot was a 35 minute wait. Kinda ruined a nice afternoon.
Far Oaks 5/9
Practice tee was closed so could not hit balls. Cart path only but sign on #1 tee stated it was 90 degree. Course was in decent shape but some of the greens were beaten up and a few of the tee boxes could use some work. Will play here again but for early May this rate for what was received seemed high. Also no marshall on course and the play was slow.
