Stonewolf Golf Club
About
Stonewolf Golf Club is one of only four courses designed by Jack Nicklaus in Illinois and Missouri and it is also one of his only public access designs. Nicklaus created a shotmaker's layout with a variety of different holes. He also incorporated his signature style of bunkering, which you'll remember for their shape, design, and placement. This is not a golf course where you'll be able to just grip it and rip it. Thoughtful strategy and careful club selection off the tees are essential for doing well. Stonewolf Golf Club opens with a tough trio of holes, ending with a short par 4 that requires a forced carry to a severe green that features a tricky elevation change right in the middle of the surface. There is also a lateral hazard on the left, and five bunkers bordering the right side.

This course was Awesome!
this course was in great shape and very fun to play. Me and my buddy had a great time playing an evening round and sadly didn't finish the back nine to to it getting dark. Will definitely jump on the next hot deal available here for a time i am able to play!
Challenging course.
Course is in good agape. Staff are always friendly. Challenging but fun course to play.
Bad greens
Course was in good conditions, fairways were tight, ruff just right,, sand traps raked. Greens are in terrible condition.
They were soft and left divots which was great. Unfortunately, people haven’t been fixing them. We fixed five additional every hole, but the pot holes all over made putting tough.
Bunkers need work
Overall course was in decent shape. It must’ve rained the day before because there was standing water in 12 fairway. The bunkers are in desperate need of work, but if you stay out of them, you’re good. I like this course so I will definitely be back.
Tee time issues
We had an online tee time late morning and a 4 some. We started on hole 10 as instructed. We made the turn 2 hours. Ladies league was starting so we waited for 35 on the tee box for 3 groups of 4 to tee off. We were told there were 2 open tee times behind us. Another group of 4 ladies showed up after we were 2 holes in and staff came and told us we could move to the back or continue to let the rest of the groups play through us. Very unorganized. Disappointing when we were so excited about playing at such a nice course.
Great Condition
Course was great, the greens were rolling great and it was my first time playing so I had a lot of fun. Never had a problem with pace of play either but my only complaint is them advertising their menu for the turn and they had nothing to order other than a hotdog. I would have never said this is they didn’t advertise for a giant menu with all these different options to order but again, that was the only problem.
SAW Golf
Played a round of golf with my buddy from San Francisco and we had a blast. Played poorly but enjoyed the course.
Stonewolf In Good Shape
I thought the overall conditioning at Stonewolf was good. The greens are on the fast side, however, many of them scarred by numerous ball marks not repaired or not healing properly.
I though the tees and fairways were good also, Just a few rough areas on holes 10 & 12. They have placed sod to fix bad areas on other holes, like holes 1 & 3. There is bare spots/erosion by many of the cart paths. There are several areas where the cart path has buckled and are marked with orange cones.
One of carts was really slow and the GPS in the carts rarely ever work. We paid the senior weekday rate of $50.
Love this challenging course
The course is in good shape. Looks like the greens were just aerated.Unfortunately the golf carts were super slow.
Excellent driving range
I really enjoyed the driving range and putting area. The putting area at Stonewolf is fantastic — smooth, true greens that really help dial in your short game. And the driving range is like nothing I’ve ever seen before.
Great course
It was a great time today. Absolutely nothing wrong other than the cart flip today.
Great shape!
Stonewolf by far is the nicest, most well maintained course we’ve played this summer. No bare spots in the fairways and the greens were not ate up. A bit pricey but thanks to TeeOff, it was a great value!
