Klein Creek Golf Club

About
Klein Creek Golf Club sprawls across acres of rolling prairieland in the western suburbs of Chicago. Trees frame the layout's gentle doglegs and tall prairie grasses border the fairways. It is a golf course that offers both beautiful scenery and a challenging round. Several lakes also dot the landscape, coming into play on almost every hole. The abundant water hazards are often coupled with spacious, intricately designed bunkers that are also usually paired with wood retaining walls. Contoured mounding frames the fairways and greens as well. Klein Creek Golf Club's layout is not easy by any means but it's fair, offering room for error on even the tougher holes with wide fairways and generous landing areas. There are a variety of approach options for the greens as well, providing great risk-reward opportunities.

Challenging Course with a Great Staff
I played an early morning round myself with a cart and played in under two hours. It's a tough course if you slice a few as there is plenty of water in play. I needed to play a quick round before family came in to town and the course hit me hard, but it was still fun. Great design with houses and townhomes in between, but not really in the path of play. I would play here again, but in a group and slow down my pace. The course is demanding and requires proper shot distance and control.
Course is getting better
I haven’t played this course for over 3 years because the last time it was disaster. Considering it late in the year, the fairways and greens were in good condition and there was sand in every bunker (fortunately I didn’t experience any of the bunkers this round.) Even on a very windy day, we had a great day!
Been a while....
It's been a while since I had played this course but it's still a fun course. It's tough but fair and I thought the course was in good shape for the end of October. The price is also very reasonable which I would definitely come back and play here again.
Cold but fun
Stupid good rate on Golf Now. Pretty sure a mistake. 3 golfers 18 holes right at 3 hours. Zero waiting. Course conditions really pretty good. Green side bunkers fixed up since last visit. Nice improvement. Waste bunkers, although I get the title, could still use a little work. Greens, tees, fairways all good shape. You don’t interact with staff much because of COVID but very friendly in few interactions.
Tight but Pretty, fun, and fair layout. Highly recommended.
Tight and wet
After about 2 inches of rain the night before, the course was very soggy. It's a tight course that already features water on more than half of the holes. Having a wet course, balls had to fight through the soggy fairways thereby limiting normal distance. The course was in pretty good shape and they did a nice job of keeping leaves off the course, however the cart paths need much repair.
Not good
The course was not in good shape. Tee boxes were terrible along with the sand traps. Greens were as hard as rocks and would not hold any shot. Won't be going back to this course anytime soon.
Golf/Party
We had a great round of golf, followed by a surprise party afterwards. The staff was very friendly and set up our party in a fun and safe way. Would definitely recommend the course and the event area.
Great course layout, and can be so much better
I've played a lot of courses in the Chicagoland area, and Klein Creek's layout is one of the better ones you'll find. The course offers varied layouts for par 3, 4 and 5 holes. There are plenty of opportunities to put your shots in a water hazard, so bring extra balls if you tend to spray your shots. Ample sand traps and decent terrain changes on both fairways and greens offers extra challenge.
The course apparently just replaced the sand in the traps this year. For a public course, these sand traps are some of the best I've played. I'm tired of hitting out of the equivalent of kids' sandboxes like I do at many other courses. These traps are a pleasure to hit from, and offer consistent play. Note that Klein Creek is setting up grass bunker areas, which need to grow in a bit, so the starter advised us to pull balls from grass bunkers.
I liked the fact that the cart paths are cinder/stone and not paved. Many of the paved paths in public courses are not well maintained, these rolled well. The halfway house consists of an outdoor deck area and the food selection was quite good, albeit a bit overpriced. Enjoyed the view over the water and of the 10th tee box.
There were spots along the course where the fairways and rough areas had dead patches, crabgrass, etc. Even a couple of greens looked like they could use some TLC. It's been a tough summer (one of the hottest on record) so with some extra maintenance and a bit more time this course will be an absolute gem.
I found the course to be more slightly more difficult than others in the area, so if you're looking for a challenging track consider Klein Creek.
Conditions were awful
I used to like this course. the staff is friendly and it’s a good layout. but for $70 a round, water your greens at least once a summer. it was absolutely brutal today. burnt out greens. divots all over the fairway. the rough was completely dead. i’ve played $30 courses in better shape.
Renovations are excellent
Kline creek is under new ownership since fall of 2019. The new owner has drastically updated the bunkers probably some of the best sand in the Chicago area, They have remove some bankers which are currently being played as ground under repair and created waste areas out of others. Fairways and greens were in great shape.
The beverage cart passed us numerous times on the course
I was playing as a single paired up with a threesome They did give me my own cart, but originally wanted to charge me for it. I did not think this was right in the era of COVID asking two strangers to ride together. This was the only negative about the course.
Disappointing
Played here several times in the past.
Seems like they have given up on what was once a well kept course.
Weeds in the sand traps. ( dry hard sand traps).
No wonder they have plenty of tee times available.
Disappointing.
