St. Andrews Golf & Country Club - Joe Jemsek Course
About
There are two championship golf courses available at St. Andrews Golf & Country Club in West Chicago as well as a top-ranked practice center. The Joe Jemsek Course, formerly known as the Lakewood, was added in 1929, three years after the club opened. Unlike the original St. Andrews Course, the Joe Jemsek Course has a hillier terrain. Although it is shorter than the other golf course at 6,770 yards, the elevation changes make it seem similar in length to the 6,920-yard St. Andrews Course. The course features tree-lined fairways and strategically placed bunkers, offering plenty of challenges but overall it is not an overly intimidating layout for beginners. There are several long and demanding par 3s throughout. The best example being the tricky second hole, which has a green that is guarded by two deep bunkers and towering trees.

Where My 2nd Shot Landed Photo submitted by DavePipitone on 07/25/2017
golf in February
This is my home course that I played as a kid. Winter rates on a crazy warm 60 degree day in February. 2 - 18 hole courses to choose from and always in good shape and staff is always friendly. Great clubhouse with a great menu and huge bar with lots of choices. Great place to golf and socialize any day of the week ! Play from the short stuff my friends !
Good course and value for early/late season
St. And rews and the Jemsick (sp?) have long been known for being the only course(s) in Chicago who are open ALL year. Snow, cold, wind, rain - doesn't matter, they're open! As a golf addict, that's awesome! You can always count on them being open for play. My ONLY issue is that they need to allow their rangers to "encourage" slower golfers to pick up the pace, or skip holes. There were several LARGE gaps on the course on Saturday, and not a ranger to be seen. The pace of play was 45 minutes over their expected pace, so I blame slow golfers, but also the course for not having rangers out there performing a critical role to ensure the enjoyment of the round for everyone... one SLOW group can and does ruin it for everyone behind them.
Excellent course and the practice range odd top notch!!!
Excellent course and the practice range is top notch! Always heard about the course and it lived up to the expectations!
St Andrew’s
Good value for money, it improved from last year, new carts pathways and well maintained greens.
My only criticism is that it was too slow and not too much control by the marshals
Nice course. Hole 17 and 18 are score killers. People around facility are helpful and friendly. $22 per person for a cart is outrageous though.
Unforgiving Refund Policy
Played here before and it was satisfactory. This time around the pro shop mentioned they are going to give me a refund as I was unable to make my tee time. This was a lie as they did not provide me a refund, I was charged $106 for a round I never played. Unforgiving and greedy.
Looong Round
To start, we teed off 30 minutes late. 2 groups ahead of us hadn't even teed off when it was our tee time. For some reason the starter had groups waiting until the group got to the green (par 4, 294 yards from the reds to 362 from the tips) to tee off even though they were very behind schedule. I was hitting an iron and was told to wait when they were 300 yards out. It was a 5 hour 10 ish minute pace (not including the 30 minute delay). $90 for an afternoon tee time and that experience is not something I would recommend to anyone.
Solid
Solid course, well maintained, fair price, slope and rating is pretty accurate. It’s obviously not $100 plus course. Definitely well above average for the price point.
