St. Andrews Golf & Country Club - Joe Jemsek Course
About
There are two championship golf courses available at St. Andrews Golf & Country Club in West Chicago as well as a top-ranked practice center. The Joe Jemsek Course, formerly known as the Lakewood, was added in 1929, three years after the club opened. Unlike the original St. Andrews Course, the Joe Jemsek Course has a hillier terrain. Although it is shorter than the other golf course at 6,770 yards, the elevation changes make it seem similar in length to the 6,920-yard St. Andrews Course. The course features tree-lined fairways and strategically placed bunkers, offering plenty of challenges but overall it is not an overly intimidating layout for beginners. There are several long and demanding par 3s throughout. The best example being the tricky second hole, which has a green that is guarded by two deep bunkers and towering trees.

Great value
The course is in great condition and the price was second best in the area! Loves it first time playing this season and I will be back !
Have played this course a decent amount. Layout is good. I do question price (through Golf Now) at $72. That seems like a lot to walk 18.
St Andrews Joe Jemesk Course
Beautiful course played on Sunday of Memeorial Day weekend. There was heavy rains for several hours prior to our tee time. That stopped just before we need off at 11:00 am. We expected the course to be very wet and muddy. Pleasantly surprised the course handled the rain like a champ. Very little standing water early on, greens dried out and the course was perfect. Very Friendly staff. There was an outing 2 groups ahead of us so pace of play was a little slow but the Marshall kept things moving best he could. Played from the white tees. Most holes were only a few yards difference from the blues. Was paired up with 2 singles 1 walking and 1 riding. Very nice guys that made the whole round that much better. I will be playing here again.
Work in Progress
CDGA made a mistake by starting the season 15 days early. 2 years in a row these course are not ready for golf this early.
This course was in ok shape..
Greens were slow.
Bunkers need work.
Fairways are early season thin.
Interesting they removed the left "fairway" tree on the #2 par 3.
You used to have to hit thru a two tree (left and right) chute to get to the green...now ? a reduced sized bunker complex - left and right is awaiting your ball.
This course is always in good shape by May 1...
This course offers no incentives that i could see for Jrs. or Srs. They used to...
early spring golf in Chicago area
St Andrews is open all year , and it always amazes me how they keep the course in such playable condition . The greens roll beautiful and the course was free of debris and leaves .
golf in February
This is my home course that I played as a kid. Winter rates on a crazy warm 60 degree day in February. 2 - 18 hole courses to choose from and always in good shape and staff is always friendly. Great clubhouse with a great menu and huge bar with lots of choices. Great place to golf and socialize any day of the week ! Play from the short stuff my friends !
Good course and value for early/late season
St. And rews and the Jemsick (sp?) have long been known for being the only course(s) in Chicago who are open ALL year. Snow, cold, wind, rain - doesn't matter, they're open! As a golf addict, that's awesome! You can always count on them being open for play. My ONLY issue is that they need to allow their rangers to "encourage" slower golfers to pick up the pace, or skip holes. There were several LARGE gaps on the course on Saturday, and not a ranger to be seen. The pace of play was 45 minutes over their expected pace, so I blame slow golfers, but also the course for not having rangers out there performing a critical role to ensure the enjoyment of the round for everyone... one SLOW group can and does ruin it for everyone behind them.
Excellent course and the practice range odd top notch!!!
Excellent course and the practice range is top notch! Always heard about the course and it lived up to the expectations!
