About
Cantigny Golf boasts 27 holes of scenic and challenging golf. The holes are divided into three nines that are named after the features of the landscape: Lakeside, Hillside, and Woodside. The nines are played in three different 18-hole combinations. The Hillside/Woodside course features plenty of elevation changes as well as an abundance of hardwoods, mature oaks, and ash trees. More than 100,000 flowers provide a colorful accent to the golf course. Strategically placed bunkers border the undulating greens and there are also a few water hazards coming into play. All three courses provide a challenging round but they are playable for a range of skill levels. It is an excellent place for tournaments. In the past it has been host to the US Amateur Public Links and numerous USGA qualifiers. It is also a good place for juniors with a golf academy and a nine-hole youth links golf course.

Renovation seems incomplete
Woodside renovation seemed to be incomplete. I was very disappointed in what was done to date. I'll be back in a few years when they are done with all the renovations.
Post Renovation of Hillside
Haven't played this 9 since they closed it for a calendar year. The new revised Hillside 9 isnt that different- it doesnt feel like a new/different course. It was never meant to.
But I can say that the revised green complexes are an improvement. I remember a few being boring and now are challenging and more fun, and likewise I remember one or two being absurdly difficult to the point it felt like a mini golf obstacle (namely hole 7) and it is now much better.
Aside from that there were a few bunkers added/moved that make the course feel more realized than before. It was always kind of the good not as great 9 of the 3 here and I think now it feels just as good as the other two.
Good course but bad experience
Be prepared to wait forever as pace of play doesn’t seem to be enforced in the slightest. Also be prepared to be playing next to multiple lawnmowers and leaf blowers on over half the holes that have no regard for golfers whatsoever.
Special Golf Course
While I have been disappointed with my score from time to time I have never been disappointed with the course. Always in great shape, a great layout and great service. I also have to mention the practice areas which is world class. A little pricey but a lot to offer.
Hillside Open - amazing condition
After undergoing renovations last year into this, the Hillside nine opened around June 1st. We played it a month after it opened and every aspect of the course was in impeccable condition. Happily used my GolfPass+ points toward the cost but even at the $90 hot buy price, it would have been very worth it.
Great property
Very well maintained. Property makes you feel like you are playing at a resort in Northern Michigan.
Nice layout but OK conditions
This is my SECOND "fancy" chicago public I have played, the first one was Bolingbrook for the same price point.
I felt that the conditions were similar to Cog Hills, but pricier overall, while in Bolingbrook i could feel the extra $$ on a fairway that felt like a cloud and super fast well kept greens, here greens were no better than Harborsides (even worse actually) and the fairway felt just ok maybe at par of Cog.
Nice to have been but wont go back for the $$
Convenient “Errors” for Hot Deals
Almost every time this course shows a Hot Deal, an error pops up when trying to book them. It’s odd how this is a consistent thing. I wouldn’t consider myself to be cheap, but if I can play Cantigny for $72 opppsed to $100+, I’d love to book it. However, the course is great. Yes, I am reviewing a related issue and not the course itself but I am frustrated that I believe this is a bait and switch type of thing.
