Fox Creek
First time playing Fox Creek and really enjoyed the course. Beautiful weather for October but it was a little windy which made a few holes more difficult. In excellent condition.
Read review
I gave this course a extremely challenging. It is for me. A better golfer it would be quite a bit easier. It's in much better condition than earlier in the year. The course superintendent is very friendly. Great course and not very crowded right now.
well maintained/lousy carts
Not for a beginner golfer. Very challenging. Very nice layout, grounds are best around. However, the golf carts were in horrible shape. We walked up to a selection of 10 carts, all seats had rips,, both carts we tried had awful horsepower and they were in overall poor condition.
Very good bang for your buck
Really enjoyed playing this course. A lot of holes where water comes into play starting with #1. Fairways were really nice and greens rolled true and at a good speed.
Great overall Golf Course
I play Fox Creek a lot during the week and weekends because of the location being close to my home and for the incredible pricing they offer. Excellent golf course with top notch fairways and greens. Great staff too. I really enjoy playing the course and recommend it to anyone looking for a great golf course for a very good price
great value
Very scenic and some challenging holes. Tees were forward and many areas were under repair. Great value for the time of year.
Fairways in rough shape
Challenging course for someone who doesn't play nearly as much as I would like to. Fairways are being re sodded so were only about half playable, and were extremely wet. Bit of a log jam on the back 9 slowed things considerably. If the sod grows this course will look great. If.
Needs work
The course needs lots of work. Bunkers were unkempt, fairways were half dead, and the carts were in poor condition.
Nice Course - Fairways Under Repair
Very nice course in Edwardsville, IL. Course has a few par 4 holes that require very long drives in order to turn the dog leg to the green. If the drive isn't long enough, trees come into play and will restrict you from reaching green on second shot. Greens were in great shape and very fast, but consistently fast. Fairways are in rough shape right now, with many under repair. The good news is that maintenance is out there trying to repair them. Should be in much better shape this fall. Fairways are also a bit narrow, so bring your straight game, or bring a few more sleeves of golf balls. I'll play this course again....in the fall.
Poor fairways
A good layout with some challenging holes and some that are pretty easy makes for a good balance. The fairways however are in awful shape, with probably 2/3 of them having HUGE bare spots and a few with almost no grass. Hopefully they are going to fix this, but it will be next summer at the earliest before it is really playable.
Fun, friendly staff not your golf heaven
When I first looked this course up it looked awesome but since going and playing it was not what I expected. I would estimate 40% of their fairways were not even grass. Parts were just dirt. In the sand traps you could see the barrier between the dirt and sand in some places.
Great Design
Great design, nice greens, fairways were very spotty
So You Think You're Good? Try This!
This is a rather challenging course that was a lesson in humility for me. It beat me up. Still, I'm happy to have played it. A course like this offers great lessons in game management.
Huge swaths of many of the the fairways were awful. Take relief as needed. On the other hand, the sand traps and putting greens were great. Obsessive grounds crews want to water and fertilize while you're playing. That's not okay.
It was a journey to get out to this course from St. Louis. I'm glad for the experience. I'll be back!
Good course
Surprised to find this course!!
There are some areas which are under repair, but over all good condition.
Great day, terrible fairways
I've played this course hundreds of times. This is the first time in all of those that the fairways look terrible. Perhaps its the type of grass, but 90% of the fairways are dead or just dirt. I actually tried to hit into the rough so at least had a shot. I won't be back til this gets better. With the amount of rain we've had I half expected that the course would be pretty lush, and that the fairways were in better shape.
Fox Creek Bare
The tee boxes and a lot of the fairways are dead in spots some of the tee boxes are bare all grass dead the greens were in good shape but fast got off early hardly anyone on course
Great layout but...
I understand that the fairways may have been a product of fungus...but all of the fairways were in terrible shape, mostly bare. I will return when their fairways have grass, but at this time I cannot with good conscience recommend this course to anyone. Not worth the drive from St. Louis to a course with bad conditions such as these
Fox Creek
Whatever budget the Greenskeeper has been spent wisely on the greens. The majority of the rest of the course is being getting a "fly by" at best. May have the best sand traps of any public course I have played this year. Could not recommend at this price for overall conditions.
Definitely a changed place
As an Edwardsville, IL resident, I have played this course many times over the last few years. The course conditions have gone downhill over that time and I t's terrible to see such a great course go in such a direction! They are in the process of switching grass types for the fairways and I guess it isn't taking too well. Just about every fairway is half grass and half dirt. It pains me to write a poor review for this course, as I used to love playing here when I was a student at SIUE, but I can't justify paying $39 on a weekend to hit my ball off of dirt (sometimes grass). There is a plus side: with the dirt, you get a lot of extra roll.
