Spencer T. Olin Learning Center 9-hole Course

The course was in fantastic shape. No complaints there. They just put sand on the greens so they were a little slow but receptive. Every time I play here, it is slow. Not sure if people are playing the wrong tees or just delusional about their game but this is the only issue I have with STO.

One of the best values in the area. The course layout is challenging and fun, and the conditions are very good. It does get a lot of play and unfortunately too many people don't fix ball marks so the greens can get very bumpy. The biggest complaint and reason I don't play here often is the pace of play. It can get outrageously slow if you don't get out super early. We were fortunate enough to get an early tee time and breezed through in 3:45 last time out. Afternoons are routinely 5+hours. Overall it is one of my favorites and wish the pace of play would improve so I could get in more rounds here.

I have been playing this course for 30+ years, and I never get tired of it!! Super layout, and the course is always in fantastic condition. The ladies in the kitchen serve up some fantastic homemade sandwiches, and the prices for beer and food are always very reasonable. I can’t say enough to endorse this course….you cannot go wrong in choosing this course as your next golf destination!!

There was rain in the forecast , so clubhouse guy, Nick, got me out an hour early to avoid the weather . The course was in fantastic shape !! If the lazy idiots would fix their pitch marks on the greens, they would be dang near perfect . The pace was good , decent golfers around me knew how to play . I can’t wait to play Spencer T again !!

Great course near the St Louis/Alton area. I play every time I am in the area. Always worth a playing. I have never been disappointed.

Course is challenging. Requires you to choose clubs other than driver off the tee box on non par-3s. The rain made the greens very slow and the pin placements were very difficult - almost all seemed on the side of a slope. We got stuck behind a foursome who did not play ready golf on the tee box, in the fairway, or on the green. This made the last 7 holes very frustrating.

The course is in fabulous shape tee to green. Played 36 holes without waiting. Everything was perfect. Prices right too! Steve

Course was in good condition. Open fairways and greens rolled very nice.

I thought Spencer T. Olin was in great shape. The only issues would be some fairways have some rough areas from poor drainage, the greens were on the slower side and the person in the pro shop was not the most personable person you will meet. We paid $42 for weekday senior rate, which is a value for this upscale course.

This was my first time playing this course. The staff went above and beyond to make this experience great. The course was beautiful, fairways and greens were spot on. We will be back.

This is the second time the Assistant pro has not been hospitable. The first time he wanted to pair me in a cart with someone I didn’t know. Wanting me to walk to the first tee to try to find the person I was to ride with. This time my playing partner checked us in and said our guest was going to be a few minutes late. If you want to go you gotta go now. Send the assistant pro to some hospitality training, please.

Everything was awesome we were moving right along on the front nine and when we got to number 10 it was backed up because the pro or whoever the guy was working in the shop sent off people off the back nine which is absolutely ridiculous!

Great course and in great shape. I’ve played this course 10 times this year. Before that I hadn’t played it since highschool (25 years ago). I love this course. It has a great layout, decently long, and always well manicured.
