Decent muni course
Usu. decent condition for muni course, although some sand traps are hardpan. Course is tree-lined & challenging as many holes play tighter than they look (must be on one side of the fairway to have straight shot at green). Creek comes into play on several holes with some force layups (or 200+yd carries on drives). Greens play mid-fast with subtle breaks, but a few are consistently in suboptimal condition. Hazards are not marked, so make agreements pre-round if playing for stakes.
Need a starter
I was hoping to be able to play a round yesterday but i had to stop after 9 holes. They did not pair people up, so i had 3 singles in front and 1 behind me. THe pace of play was extremely frustrating. By the time I got to hole 10, there were multiple carts waiting so I just left.
Golf pass review
Fun course, playable but often challenging. Biggest complaint today was unrepaired ball marks on greens.
Friendly staff. We’ll be back.
Great experience at Brookshire. Very friendly staff and Wednesday is their senior special rate (55+).
If you are a strong iron player, you will enjoy this track. Have fun!
July 4th weekend and the grille was closed! No option to even buy a bottle of water...The staff said a 3rd party owns the food/bev and had no answers. Last time we play there for sure....not worth the $$
Good conditions, tight layout
The pace of play on a thursday at 2:40 was great, the conditions were overall great, but the greens were a little bit slow. I don't love the layout of the course due to it being really quite tight, and there are many holes which don't allow driver to be hit
Friday afternoon round of golf
It started out cool and windy as the rain had just moved out, but ended up sunny and beautiful. Front 9 we waited a bit for the 4some in front of us, but not bad. They only played 9 holes so back 9 was great.
All great, except the design
1st time playing the course. People in the Pro Shop were super nice, as was the starter. The clubhouse itself was decent as well - looks like it's had recent remodeling. Warm up area was ok, but practice green was good.
My beef is with the course design. There are some truly awful holes from a design perspective for a public course. Examples - #1 (totally blind from tee), #7 (a total mess), #8 (extremely narrow 2nd shot), #18 (if you can't hit a cut off the tee, you're hosed). There are some good holes, but these just ruined it for me.
Mid
Course Layout is too tight. Barely missing the fairway puts you on another hole (risking hitting other golfers). The bunkers are hard as a rock
Improving!
Best condition I’ve seen it in….Greens were GREAT for early season
