Great round with my 11y/o grandson
We had a great round today. Everyone at the course was masked and social distanced. Relaxed pace of play made it a pleasure to teach my grandson golf etiquette as well as technique.
He did get quite hungry despite snacks and water so it d would be welcome to see the snack shack at hole 9 open for the season.
Course is in the best shape I can remember.
We’ll be back next week.
Wow - Thank you for the five star review! We are happy to have exceeded your expectations. We love hearing from you and are glad you had a great experience. We look forward to having you back again soon!
Mid-week on my home course
The course is in the best shape I can remember. Played hard and fast. Greens were cut and rolled true.
Great walking course and can play easily under three hours.
As good as you can get for the price.

Not worth it
Unless you drastically want to work on your short game this course is not great. I think they just marked a couple holes as par 4s that way it’s not technically a par 3 course. Your money is better spent at a real 18 hole golf course.

Incredible use of land and budget
I've played this course for many years, and when I stepped on there this weekend, it just felt different. The improvements they have made are incredible, not only in terms of course conditions, but many creative bunkers have been added as well as fescue. This course is very walkable, and I it was amazing seeing how far they have come. A must play!

Nice city course
Nice iron course, narrow fairways and some really fun holes. Would play again

Canal shores is a great short narrow and cheap course in the middle of Evanston.
I've enjoyed Canal Shores for years and it was great to play today. The weather was perfect and everyone was friendly. If not for restrictions because of COVID-19, there would have been more available (club house, snack bar midway through the course, etc.); otherwise I would have give more stars for Off-course amenities. The course is short, but still a little challenging because of all of the woods, hitting over the river twice, and how narrow many of the holes are. You really can't beat the price either ($30-35). Great course that I'll definitely be playing again.

Decent course
Small Par 3 and smaller par 4 course I would not pay more than $15 to play it list GolfNow perks which should be removed cause it doesn't exist and nobody even knows what they are

A walk in the neighborhood
This convenient community golf course meanders through upscale neighborhoods in Evanston and Wilmette, requires great accuracy, has a view of Lake Michigan, the Bahai Temple, and has more trees and water than most golfers prefer. It's not long but it's very hard, thanks in part to five 180-220 Par 3s. It's not a course for scoring well. And it's in the best physical shape it's every been. Kudos to the non-profit group that runs it (which includes the PGA professional Luke Donald) and the course superintendent..

Always a challenging round
Canal Shores is a favorite of mine because I appreciate these historic local courses. As I play walking through the neighborhoods of Evanston and Wilmette, I think about how the course looked 100 years ago when the first rounds were played.
It is only two blocks from my house but it is never boring to play

how many dogs not on a leash
course was good I will not pay more than $15 for this course I've seen prices for 25 and $35 maybe that's why nobody's there one of the biggest problems was too many dogs walking around not on a leash I have a Rottweiler right next to my bag no leash another one ran up when was about to hit in the tee box Ranger should enforce this before someone gets seriously hurt is this a golf course or dog park

Average but Fun Course
The course itself isn't anything special, but it's very unique and scenic.

Little North Shore gem.
This is a tough little course. Very narrow in places, but since it’s been cleaned up (thanks to all the volunteers and staff) more playable than it used to be. Don’t get me wrong. Bring extra balls when you come, because you may lose one or two or three or four.....just sayin’. Being nestled in a NorthShore neighbored makes this track not only pleasant, but interesting pictorially. First time I’ve walked 18 in many years and I’m probably gonna be feeling it tomorrow, but it was worth it.

Unique Course
Great little course that is nestled within a neighborhood. It’s a laid back environment here that has both good points and bad points. Good: friendly Rangers, a tight and challenging layout that requires good iron play, no driver needed and some interesting holes. Bad: the laid back attitude here allows for golfers to share clubs and there are people and dogs walking everywhere. I love dogs but the combination of allowing golfers to share clubs and all the non golfer foot traffic results in slow play at times.

Good at Hot deal price
Course is very unique only walking very nice area lay out is weird to keep crossing streets and zigzagging I would recommend at a hot deal price $10 approximately I seen some ridiculously high prices I definitely would not bother with short course 75% part 3
