Ironhorse Golf Course

Fairways are blotchy and not very smooth, par 3 tees are something you could make in a backyard. Greens had a few hot spots but rolled ok, hundreds of ball marks in the greens. Awesome layout, could really be something special. It’d be a great course if they had a crew to repair ball marks, smooth bunkers, and improve fairway grass. Would play again just not at the top of my list.

Pace of play was awful. 5 hour round for just a friend and I.

In previous years this has been one of my favorite tracks around. Last year something happened and all the grass died. Seemed like they stopped caring about it. I’m seeing signs of it coming back, but lots of work needs to be done to the tee boxes, some fairways and sand traps. Hope they put some money into it cause I love the layout.

The entire course is rough!

Because of the rain we have received, the grass was very green and well maintained. Greens are in decent shape but there was some bare spots repair being done. A couple of fairways are also under repair. Sand traps are not really traps since not kept fresh. My only complaint is the rough is really rough. No hope to find your ball if you hit it there. A great course for any type of player, but lots of water to challenge your game. Remember that this course has no trees to distract your shots, but no shade from the sun either.

Tee boxes had a lot of bare spots. The fairways also had a few spots. I felt the greens were pretty good, smooth and the ball rolled fine.

I don’t think they have put any money into the course in 3 years. Sad because the layout is great and pace of play is very good. Bunkers have been terrible(unplayable) for awhile but now sadly tee boxes and fairways are getting to the same level(had to move ball into playable grass in the fairway almost every hole). Put some money into the course or significantly lower the rates.

Love the layout of this course but it is in horrible shape. I know they have had a lot of rain and haven't been able to get out yet this year to do anything but this course is going to need a lot of $ to get it back to where it was years ago. Really sad how this course has gone downhill!!

Very unfortunate that a course with such promise has been ruined. No grass on tees or fairways. Greens were average at best. Don't waste your time or money on this goat path!

Very unique layout in comparison to most courses in Central Illinois. Greens were in good shape but the fairways were pretty bare in some places. Definitely worth a visit.

The course is very interesting, I hope they get it back in playable condition.

Greens were OK but fairways and tees were quite rough and likely suffering from fungus. TONS of core aerating and overseeding is needed. Do not plan to play there again unless I see lots of positive reviews indicating improvement. This is disappointing, because I used to play there several times a year.

Friendly staff & other golfers on a busy day. Fun course with unique & challenging holes.
