Great experience
Course was in great shape surprisingly difficult will play again
Great course
Pace of play slower than normal. Greens were dry, hard and fast. Love the Links style of the course. I'm an hour away, but will be coming back.
Still great
Friendly staff. Great course. Love the links style.
Great Links style course
Great course. Great lounge at the turn. Links style was challenging. As a first time player the fairways and greens were hard to figure out. The greens were a little hard and very fast. Thr rough wasn't too grown up. Plan on going back soon. I drove an hour to get there. If I lived closer, I'd play there every day. Great staff very friendly and helpful.
Good overall conditions. Tough course
First off, be prepared - this course has A LOT of water, with fingers of water reaching out into the fairways (not just adjacent ponds). Overall, fairways and greens were in great shape, but the greens were very slow. I never did get dialed in.
Good value
Have played this course for several years. It has gradually degraded. In the last year or so conditions have improved.
That being said, it's still a good value. It's a good links course.c
Beautiful course is on the mend to its former glory
What a wonderful layout!
There's not an easy hole but none tricky.
The fairways were in good shape, rough was manageable, and bunkers were playable. The greens were I punched 2.5 weeks prior and not dressed, so making a putt was difficult but they still had some speed.
The manager was very congenial.
The restaurant is closed for the winter.
I'm glad to see drastic improvement in the conditioning.
This course was worth the drive and I look forward to playing it again.
Improved grounds upkeep.l
Course conditions have improved this year. It's a links course, but had gotten overgrown in places. Good course overall. My only real complaint was when I checked in, the
attendant made a snide remark about using golfnow. He said that I was playing for free, not really thank you. I don't
know the particulars on how golfnow and teeoff work, but
I don't think the people who take advantage of the lower prices should be treated with contemp.
Challenging course
Ironhorse is always a great place to play. The course is unique and challenging. Staff is very professional and friendly. I played there because of a golf outing later that week and it is a great place for that he at too.
Excellent condition for central Illinois on a very hot August day
It was 90 degrees or so and most were staying indoors.
So I never got slowed down at a single hole.
The fairways were well kept and the greens were in great shape.
Great value and interesting layout
Paid $15 per person for a Hot Deal. Heavy rains yesterday so course was cart path only and there are not many golfers. Completed our round in 3.5 hours while occasionally waiting for a twosome in front of us. Tee boxes are all in poor condition but fairways and greens played well, although didn’t look very sexy. Layout is interesting and sometimes challenging. Greens are fine but mostly just aim straight and whack it. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
Great layout
The $20 round on Mondays is the best deal around! It's a great layout with a very friendly staff. Well worth the drive from Danville!
