Fantastic price for a solid course. Got the round done in 3 and a half hours - no waiting at all until the 17th hole - 7:30 AM tee time on a Friday - couldn't beat it for the Chicago area.
Still mending - soggy
Reviewed this course in May and remarked that it needed some time to get into mid-season shape. It's still a work in progress.
Quite a few spots through the green that need attention. Putting surfaces were really soaked. Some fairway bunkers had puddles, but others were newly filled.
90 degree enforced today. But played in 3:40 riding, going out very early. Got a Hot Deal on Golf Now so high marks for value. I like the design, and worth playing when the price is right.
Solid Value
The course is well kept. The greens were in good shape though some of the pin placements were tough.
Wide open course allows you to spray your shots, and recover.
This would be good outing course.
village greens in woodridge
i went in as a single and was paired up with with 3 nice people however after about 5 holes it became a waiting game on every hole, it took us 5hours and 15 minutes to play, i actually was playing fairly well for having knee surgery 3 weeks ago but as soon as the pace slowed to a crawl my game went to pot, just cant handle that, no reason for and the course said they would do something but never did, wont be going there anytime soon.
On the mend - check again later
Have been hearing some negatives about the course, so decided to give it a try. Full disclosure: I have played here for over 30 years and always use the weekend twilight deal.
Yes, there are a few problems, such as areas on many holes which should be marked ground under repair, bunkers that need attention, etc. But I was pleasantly surprised that we were able to ride all holes with only one path only hole; usually this course has a challenge to drain after heavy rains. Course needs a month of warmth and sunshine, then we'll really see.
Played 18 holes in 3:40 riding. Virtually no delays. Friendly staff. Starter got us out early given some no shows. Greens appeared tightly mown but were slower than they looked. Didn't miss any putts because of the surfaces however.
Nice Layout with Very Troublesome Condition Issues
Whenever I write a negative review it's only in the hopes that the course improves. I enjoy the layout here so much that I really hope it does.
I've played several area courses this year and many with more affordable rates. Though all of them show signs of dealing with heavy rainfall, none of them were in worse shape from tee to green than Village Greens of Woodridge.
The tee boxes are a mess. Very bumpy, uneven and looking generally uncared for. On the plus side, ball washers were well located with clean water and a fresh towel. Something I always appreciate. Foot brushes could use replacement here and there but so many courses don't even have them.
Cart paths were a mess with many of potholes. Standing water, mud and dirt clumps where dried and really just the whole track just need a good cleaning.
Fairways and rough were in good shape overall but really need grooming the uneven nature of the grass in all areas of the course made pitching and chipping a guessing game. Balls were found hiding in overgrown grass that really slowed play at times. Everyone in our group had trouble locating their balls at one time or another in wide open areas.
One positive I took away from the fairways were the highly visible yardage markers Blue, White, and Red. placed right down the middle of the fairway. I wish that all courses did this as it really helps a player gauge the depth and find the fairway center.
While I like the way the greens are constructed they were not in good shape. Inconsistent speed, ball marks everywhere (the fault of careless golfers that make the course suffer more than it should). Worst of all, the fringe. Poorly defined. Uneven. Uncut with grass growing at significantly different rates. You should be able to putt from the fringe without your ball hopping three inches high as it plows through uneven tufts of grass.
All things considered, by the end of the round, a fair question to ask would be "Did the groundskeeper quit?"
After the round, the clubhouse is not inviting. Not a place you'd want to hang out for long, although the woman at the bar outclassed the room and everyone in it being super friendly with a great smile, and made all of us feel welcome enough to spend more time than we would have otherwise. Actually all staff encountered were excellent - as nice and friendly as any golfer could every hope for.
I'll return in a few weeks to see if anything changes but I won't be recommending this course to anyone in the meantime. Really looking forward to seeing this course bounce back into great shape soon!
Ridiculous Pace of Play
Prince Winbush is one of the best (Assistant) Pros in the area. Otherwise, the day was a loss. It's early April, and the course was nearly empty in the afternoon. Yet, we managed to get behind the slowest group in the world. They were on 3 when we started, and we caught them on the 4th hole. They were playing 17-18 minutes per hole. It's hard to review a course, because you can't get past the pace of play. They had 3 holes open in front of them. Slow pace of play is killing the game. We skipped 8 and 9, played the back in 1:40.
First time
Course has a nice layout. We were forced to walk because of rain. But we enjoyed the exercise 6.2 miles. Will be back!!!
Great value
Rainy day. Played with friends that I only get to go out with twice a year. Had a great time.

The course layout is pretty cool, but it was in terrible condition. Fairways were rock hard, greens were damaged, and tee boxes were so hard you couldn't even put a tee in. It was also completely overbooked, I think we played a 6 hour round because we waited at every hole. The group behind us quit after 15 because it was so slow.
No excuse
Greens on the back 9 have some issues with dead spots. We booked an early afternoon round to make sure we could finish 18 holes. The time booked on golf now said 3:21. When I got to the course I was told it was 3:12. Luckily our group was early so we got off on time. On the first tee we were asked to make sure we kept pace because they had several groups behind us. Our Foresome kept pace with the twosome ahead of us. On hole 7, there were suddenly 12 high school kids on the tee. They were driven from the clubhouse to the 7th tee and told to start there in front of the paying customers. Very ignorant to slide two groups of 6 in front of people who paid $40 and booked early so we could finish. After we complained, the staff told us the kids would only play 3 holes and would be gone. On the back 9 we ran into a very slow group of women, luckily we were able to skip a hole, finish and go back to play the hole we skipped. If we didn't do that we would not have finished. In general the course is good. But the ignorance of placing two groups of 6 in front of us didn't sit well with the several groups that were delayed. Especially after we were asked on the first tee to keep pace. We will not go back during high school golf season.
Course was not in good shape
I played earlier in the year and course was in good shape. Played again yesterday and course was in disappointing shape. Probably will not go back unless conditions are improved.
Not in good shape
The rough was very wet, long and was just being cut and clippings left everywhere and the big complaint was the greens… They were terrible. I don't know what has happened to them but practically every one if not all had brown blight spots all over the green. It did not make for a good experience overall. When you're putting for a birdie or a par and have to deal with constant irregularity in the putting surface, it does not make for a easy time. The free bottle of water did not make up for it at all… LOL

Yeah, I talked to the pros over there and they said the greens are just starting to recover from the floods and disease. The 14 fairway was underwater for a week and they reseeded and it's coming back. Should be in better shape soon. Still a good deal for $30.
Stay off this DOGTRACK
I grew up playing Village Greens and this course has drastically changed over the years. The course is in absolutely disgusting shape this year. They do not fix any divots on the greens, it looks like a meteor shower attacked all the greens. The course also does not cut the tee boxes, it feels like you are teeing off from the rough. They also do not have any cart girls on the course and no water on the course. Hole 14 is in such bad shape they made the par 4 into a par 3. The course actually still hangs the sign in the pro-shop "Best course in Illinois in 2001". I am embarrassed in how terrible this course is. I paid 45 dollars to play here. They should not be charging anything more than 10 dollars. Please go to any other course in the area, this place is beat up and terrible.

LOL...they've had a ton of rain in the past month and a little disease on some of the greens as a result. I played the other day and everything was mown well. The greens are coming back. You should try it again soon. I play all the time and they've gotten so much better over the past few years, except when it rains a ton.
Tough When Hot - Water Removed From Course
Nice layout, but some damage on fairways from previous flooding.
No water available out on the course now! The course withdrew all water coolers so the only available water is from the clubhouse or the cart.
Practice green is not the same speed as greens on the course
Village Greens of Woodridge
This is a great course for all skill sets. It will require some good course management. There are holes that are worth going for it and others where you need to be a little cautious. Great layout, friendly staff. The only thing that could be improved would be if more people would fix their ball marks on the greens. It doesn't require much time. Too many Sunday golfers with no regard for the course.
Fairways at Village Greens
Always fun at village greens always get paired with friendly golfers; great course - with immediate access to the driving range off the 1st tee. One of our foursome couldn't make it then at the turn around the manager asked it we would take on an additional golfer and offered a refreshing beverage for doing so (I would of said yes anyway sometimes courses overbook) She was very friendly and fit right in with our group. It was another great loop at Village greens and I played pretty good too.
Village Greens of Woodridge
The staff at Village Greens is wonderful. The pace of play for a Sunday was ok. 4 hours 20 minutes teeing off @3:21pm. The only drawback are the bunkers, virtually no sand, sometimes hard & crusty. The rest of the course is in good shape. The greens roll well. The fairways are well groomed. Overall a very positive round of golf for a Sunday afternoon. A great value for the western suburbs.
Fun Course
Lots of mature trees and lush grass. Pace was a little slow, but on a Saturday with optimal weather conditions it was expected. Front nine was dry, but the back has a lot of water in play. I would highly recommend this course to golfers of any skill levels. Staff was super friendly. Only gripe is no water stations anywhere on the course. Cart girl was around often but additional water would had been nice on a summer day.
UPDATE 4/20/18
Course is definitely showing signs of improvement and course has been cleaned up a lot since last play. It was nice to see maintenance activity all around the course. Greens were running true. Most fairways were cut to a reasonable level although not very well defined. Will be returning to play in the not too distant future and if improvements are ongoing and the consistency is there I will definitely raise my rating and recommend once again. Thumbs up on the initial effort over last year Village Greens of Woodridge. Keep it up!
UPDATE: 10/06/2017
Hard to believe it but the course is even worse than played in April. The conditions are among the worst I have seen at any golf course EVER! The neglect from tee to green is astounding. Hoping they can find a crew to turn it around because something is very wrong here. Good Luck to you Village Greens of Woodridge!
