GPS
Need to update course with GPS. Front and back are opposite of each other. Otherwise, good course to play. Wide open.
Rolling hills, blind tee shots, and just open enough to be forgiving
I hadn't played this course in several years, so I was excited when a day of meetings took me to the Covington area. I booked a Noon tee time with my dad and we set out on what ended up being a very enjoyable round. The course has enough blind tee shots to frustrate those that aren't familiar with the course, but it's open enough to be forgiving if you happen to miss your mark. The greens accepted approach irons well and yet were quicker than I would have figured based on their softness. The course was well taken care of and though a few of the tee boxes were in need of some mending, it was nothing that every course doesn't struggle with to one degree or another. All in all, I wouldn't hesitate to book this course again. It was a fun course that was quite the challenge and yet rewarding at the same time. Top if off with the gal in the club house being a joy to interact with and everything adds up to this course being quite the hidden gem...even though it's right off the interstate! :)
Great deal
Played there the first time. I would say not a walking course. Friendly staff. Large layout, with wide fairways several dogleg holes. Greens all where narrow and slope from front to back. Easy to short side yourself. The greens were like glass, had some small undulations. Can't really beat the course for the price. Will be back if in the area again.
Great value
I play this course about three times a year when I am in the area. I've played many worse courses for much more money. Always in great condition.
Pin placement was just a little unfair on some holes
Pace of play was great. Course was in real good shape. Red stack hazard on 9 was different since they had not been able to mow that area and grass was close to 8 inches high and could hardly see the ball. Some of the pin placements were tough to get the ball to stop by the hole if you were to the side or behind. Just barley got to the hole with the putt and ball ended up 20 or so feet down the hill. It was a real good time for my first time there and not hitting well.
Nice layout! This course is more difficult than the rating and slope on the scorecard.
Strange begining
Arrived 1/2 hr before tee time 10:30 club house closed. Members in parking lot advised us of this and said will text the person that is suppose to open. 10 minutes later man showed up. Course interesting ,greens would be tough to putt if above hole in fast conditions, traps fair for time of yearas well as rest of course. Got done wanted to look around in pro shop no one there.
Enjoyable Day
Good weather for 10/27/14 in Indiana. Course was in great shape considering they had aerated only a few days before. Only issues we had were the maintenance crew mowing, and would not allow us to play through. Had to wait 5-15 minutes on several holes until they had finished. Most other course allow the golfers to be first priority.
Awesome day on the course
Just had an awesome time with the family on a sunday afternoon round. Staff was helpful and ready for me when I arrived. Course was in pretty good shape. Appeared to have plenty of play but was in playable condition and lush
Decent for the price
We ended up playing this course on a very hot Sunday while they were having their club championship. That's the reason the pace of play was a little slow. The greens are in good shape but I don't know if I would call them undulating like one user did. Otherwise, the course is open, doesn't run into too many other holes and isn't too tight. It seemed like they haven't mowed in a while and the rough and fairways were pretty thick, along with the tee boxes. However, for the cost, it was well worth it for a nice day of golf.
Bunkers could be improved!
The course was in pretty good shape but has the same bunker issues that a lot of local courses do. Instead of nicely manicured, sandy bunkers it is more like hardpan with pebbles on top. The greens are great. It's refreshing to have a course with tee boxes that are flat and greens that are undulating. Around here it's usually opposite. If they improved the bunkers then I would definitely make this course a regular in my rounds each year.
Well maintained course
Most impressed with corse conditions after playing several courses in central and west central indiana. It's a fair course with a few challenging doglegs and two uphill par 4's. Fairways excellent, only one green in bad shape....#12 par 3. Friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely return.
Good day
The course was well tended, moderately busy but play went smoothly, and staff were very cordial. Nice experience and will definitely return for another good round at Rivercrest.
Nice place to play.
The course was in very good shape. The weather was excellent with temps in the upper 70's, a little breezy. The greens were in pretty good condition and the pins were challenging. The greens are not huge and require a nice approach shot. There was no hot food available at the turn, only candy bars and chips. I would have liked to have seen cold sandwiches and/or hotdogs available. Overall, an enjoyable outing that I would do again.
There was error in the review re food - it was great and reviving for the back 9
