Course conditions vs fees
Yes there has been a lot of damage this year to greens due to the harsh winter. A little warning on the true conditions from the proshop would have been welcomed as well as a reduction in greens fees.
It's been over a year since I last played here and it appears they are making some good improvements. I'd give it another year to recover. That being said a great place for a speedy practice round, I finished 18 in 2-1/2 hours.
Poor Greens
Tee to Green was green and lush, but when you got on the green it went downhill fast there was brown spots on almost half of the the green which made it hard to putt because of the ball bouncing on the way to the hole.
BAD CONDITIONS
This course is in the worst conditions that I have ever seen it, and is not even worth the $15 and the 20 minute drive that I speant to play it.
Course Condition
We had a bad winter this year, but the greens were awful. It does not look they even tried to reseed them. They were full of places where the grass had dies and left what looked like a fairway divot. It was had to putt to say the least.
fox run
Some greens are still terrible.but for the most part the course is in good shape. Lots of weekend warriors so pace of play can be slow at times. Overall this course is one of the best bangs for your buck in the area.
Excellent course for the money
I liked this course. There were easy holes and just a smattering of very tough holes. This kept the course interesting without punishing the player. The greens weren't pristine, but they weren't so bad as to significantly hurt my score or lessen my enjoyment of the course.
Not bad for the price
We went at 630 in the morning so it was great not having anyone behind or in front of us the whole time. The greens were in horrible condition. Overall I will go again only using golfnow to book it.
Great course with rough greens
Course was great and a fun challenge. Greens had severe winter damage to them.
Good course but greens need work.
Overall this is a great course for your money but the last time I was there the greens were lumpy and very patchy.
Terrible Greens
The greens on the course we unplayable. The golf course should close for repairs it was so bad. Could not putt due to conditions on 75 percent of the greens.
Course dreams of a new owner
The course itself is a well set up challenge. I am new to golfing the area and everyone talks about the rough shape it's in and I'm not even that critical of course conditions.
There was 3 holes that had temporary greens. And they were basically just mud. They cut the holes about 12 inches around so you could hopefully one put if you made it on the really small temporary green. Honestly I think I paid $20 for my father-in-law and myself and I really felt like they should have offered me all day play for that much money.
If the course could talk it would beg for a new owner or new staff or more resources or something. It's a great set up, it has some challenging holes and some holes you can go after and mixes them up well. Hopefully the course has a quick turnaround this summer.
I love going there and will continue going but I plan on calling staff b4 I book to check on those 3 holes. I won't play if they have the temporary greens next time.
Don't go here this year!!!!
Be warned the greens are in terrible shape. They have lots of winter kill. 3 greens were closed and many of the others were also in poor shape. I know this is somewhat out of there control, but people should be warned before booking. Do not book for more than $20 for 18 holes, you will be disappointed.
Terrible course.
This course is in absolute disarray. To begin, the 1st hole has a temporary green, which might as well be a sand pit. The course is littered with dandelions. The greens are burnt up nd I don't think there's a single one that has a true roll. The pace of play was ok but that's probably largely because who in their right mind would pay to play this course. The 8th hole tee box is located only about 275 yards from the driving range boxes and we almost were hit from behind by range balls. This is a hazard! Even at $19 this course is not worth it. Don't do it folks!
Course getting worse
While the rough winter killed/damaged a good number of greens in the Omaha area that is no excuse for the condition of the fairways and rough. Weeds have overtaken this course and my fore some lost a couple balls that simply rolled into the rough that was a combination of clover and dandelions. I had liked going to this course regularly about two years ago, but it has taken a marked turn for the worse.
Fox Run
The old adage you get what you pay for is true in this case. While the fairways were in good condition their are 4-6 holes with temporary greens that are NOT putt-able. The front 9 is the more difficult 9 and a little more exciting than the back 9.
Rough greens
The greens on this course are terrible. Fairways and the rest of the course are in in pretty good shape.
Greens need work
Most of front 9 greens were in poor shape. Cart paths, carts, and Fairways were all good.
Never Again
When we showed up, they pushed our tee time back over an hour bc of " frost" it was over 45 degrees and no frost was present. The greens had so much sand on them they were like bunkers. There were soamy overgrown weeds in the fairway. I give them a chance every year hoping it is better. Trust me, I will not be playing again this year, maybe never again.
right for the price
Im a beginner golfer so I look for deal before I go play a round, fox usually has great deals under $20. Which is why I play fox run as often as I do. The greens are in horrible shape most of them are lacking in grass. I realize that it very early in the golf season and not everything has had time to grow in but on most greens you have to putt through bald patches or sand. If you juat want to get out and play a round and aren't to picky like me then you will enjoy fox run.
