Course needs some work
Lots of sticks and junk on the greens. I do realize its early in the season. Ground very hard and many bare spots. The geese on the lake were cool.
This is a challenging course and well maintained.
This is a challenging course and well kept up for this time of year. Early afternoon is a great time to play the course for a fast paced game.
Course is in terrible shape, more weeds than grass and a majority of greens had dead spots.
Pace of play was terrible lots of senior players and one group of players started on 14 and we got sandwiched between them and it took forever. Course is in horrible condition weeds and deadspots on greens. Never golf again even if FREE....
Needs work
This could be a decent course with a little work. The greens were probably the worst condition I have ever seen. Likewise the sand bunkers were essentially dirt pits.
My advice, play the front 9 holes twice and avoid the back 9. Course has many rough and not well maintained holes
It was a weird course. it had 6 very good and great holes, and the rest of the course was like a cow pasture. The 12 or so bad holes had Tee boxes and fairways very unkept and greens with very large damaged areas. Not just kinda damaged, we're talking unable to put on, or over damage. But then on about 6 holes, all in row it was like you went to another golf course. Everyting was in great shape, very scenic and very well maintained. I have never seen such an odd thing in my golf playing days.
Needs some work
This was an interesting course. All the holes (tee to green) needed a lot of work. Except holes 6 and 7. They were in excellent condition. The reason may be that these were the only holes that were in the housing development. The staff was cordial but not much of a menu for after the round. I would not recommed this course to the middle to low handicapper.
No Ranger means slow play
We even had one group behind us try to move ahead of us and with no ranger, we handled it ourselves.
This is the most poorly maintained course in the Omaha area.
I've known Fox Run to be an inexpensive course that's only kept in moderate condition, but this visit revealed that they've allowed it to deteriorate beyond acceptable levels. The greens were horrible. Several had quarter-sized holes and large chunks of turf patched in (not smoothly). Fairways and greens alike featured weeds mown to grass length, and the fairways were so hard in places that I thought I would break a wrist. Even at a relatively low cost, I wouldn't want to play there again without significant improvements.
Fox Run
For the money this course is worth it! It has a lot of trees so you must hit the ball straight and avoid the numerous well placed sand traps. It is not a long course, but the greens with their subtle breaks and firmness makes this a very challenging course. The staff was friendly and treated us very well. The only downside to the course was that the greens were very bumpy and did not putt true from a distance out to the hole. I would definitely golf this course again.
This course is a total dump
This place has all the potential in the world but is grossly neglected. Piles of dirt just off the fairway, dead grass EVERYWHERE. The pathetic drainage makes for a super dry playing surface on most of the course and swampland the rest. Bunkers here are not raked properly and have over a foot deep of sand in some. The course is very poorly marked with sprinkler head not having yardages. Some of the 150 markers are white, some are yellow....you really don't know what you're looking at. The condition of this place is just sad but it has all the foundations of being a nice, challenging course if they would just take care of it. Two holes on the front nine boarder a large pond with bridge which are stunning, if you don't place your ball in the fairway dirt mound. That was about the only high point. The staff were rude and unhelpful after they placed 6 groups off the back night just before I made the turn because they had a league starting up....I wasn't not pleased at all and had to play through each group slowing the pace of play for everyone....It's my first golf outing in the Omaha/Council Bluffs area and all I can say is I hope there are better public courses out there somewhere....I will NOT come back to this dump unless there is a change in management and it's fixed up.
Needs attention
It was just an OK experience. The greens & tee boxes need major attention. The greens were atrocious. The fairways and sand were well kept but putting was made pretty difficult. I'm not sure I'd go back.
The course Pro Shop has issues
I've played this course before and it has challenging holes.
We started at 3PM and were NOT told by the Pro Shop that there was league at 5PM starting off the back 9. When they started showing up on the back 9, we abruptly completed our round, went back to the Pro Shop and were told that they thought we'd complete 18 holes in less than 2 hours.
Unfortunately, since there wasn't a Player's Assistant out keeping track of slow play, we were behind a slow foursome. If we would have known about the league on the back 9 we would have started on the back 9 first and rolled to the front afterwards. Really upset about the lack of information.
By the time we found out about the league, the front 9 was stacked up on the first tee (one group on the green, one group in the fairway and one group waiting to tee off). We were given rainchecks but the Pro Shop's failure to communicate with us really makes me want to avoid this course in the future.
Other than lack of information, the course was nice and in good shape. There is a bit of maintenance they could do in the fairways, but overall a good course to play.
Communication is key!!!
Beautiful grown up course
Under staffed! The course fairways and rough are in great shape the greens and bunkers are in horrible shape every putt bounced to the hole. A little neglected but for the money a great little course
Decent Course
The staff outside of one helpful person was very rude. The ladies selling drinks and food were rude the entire time we were there. It wasn't busy at all on a VERY hot day. Enjoyed the time on the course but the ladies in the clubhouse need to go.
I will be back
Great course, got out there early enough where no one was in front of me, so I was able to zip right along.
good value for the golf now discount price
fairly easy course , not a lot to get you into trouble. Greens need some work, no marshals.
great value for your money
Pretty good deal for only $20. Pace of play was good considering it was the day after a holiday and the course was packed. The greens were in decent shape but some of them had large brown patches, the staff was friendly and the cart girl made several passes during our round.
Not the nicest course in town but for the price I couldn't complain.
Fox Run is a very good golf course, it maybe flat but it is not easy...a great course.
I have been a long time golfer @ Fox Run and have seen it chagne throughout the years....all the chnages I've seen have been for the better!
Very playable, easy to book. Slow greens.
Course is generally well-maintained but the greens are still showing some wear and tear from last year's drought. Fairly flat with enough topography to make it an interesting round but not so much that you're constantly in the trees (good if you're a novice to intermediate golfer). Friendly and accommodating staff. Conveniently located for both Council Bluffs and Omaha area golfers.
Convenient course, not so convenient greens....
For the price, from booking on golfnow.com, this is a great value of a course to play. Pace of play was great, nice fairways, but will lose some balls if you don't hit those fairways. The main thing that bothered my group was the greens; they were like putting on concrete. They are covered with sand so they are very fast and hard, and it was dificult to keep approach shots and par 3 tee shots on the green as balls would most likely roll or bounce off once they hit. Still a good value for the price.
