Golf course
Went to play and could only play 6 holes so didn't get to play when I payed for 18
This Course and golf now
When I arrived for my round at 10:10 they where not able to find my reservation I made through golf now. They told me they do not use golf now to make reservations. Luckily they had an opening and I was able to play. Golf now needs to refund the money I paid to make the reservation. Are there more courses that you charge on your wed site that do not use use to make reservations?
good course, needs maintenance
Lot of over growth, fairways are like a lengthy home lawn. Signage is starting to be swallowed by weeds and high grass. Both practice greens getting overgrown by nature. There has been a lot of rain, so maybe course isn't set up for summer golf yet.
Hope they can get it back to better conditions, it's a lovely golf escape in the great outdoors.
Great place to get away.
The staff have made noticeable improvements overall. Looking green and full again. I would definitely recommend this place.
Sadly disappointed
I was so sadden how the course has been neglected to the point of being almost unplayable. I had very good memories of this course being one of the resort like ones I played early in my golfing experience and took my fellow golfing buddies to play it after I had brageded it up and wow it was truly a broken down course. I can only hope that someone can take the time and money needed to get back into the excellent shape it once one in.

Was considering trying Elkhorn...thanks to whoever posted the recent pictures of how bad the course is! Pictures tell it all, will not waste my time here.
Not worth the money ... even $14
This course is not being maintained, which is a shame because there are a few interesting holes. It appears the bunkers haven't been filled with sand in months or years -- they are full of weeds. The fairways are the length of rough -- they haven't been mowed in days or perhaps weeks. It doesn't appear the holes have been moved in weeks. Several of the greens had little or no grass on them. On some you were putting on dirt or mud.
It astounds me that they have the nerve to charge $46 for a weekend round here. I played for $14, getting a "hot deal" on their Website. Even at that price, it was not worth it. Shame on these folks for allowing the course to get so out of condition.

Elkhorn
Owner treated us like dog poop. He said Golfnow buyers get no carts or fair treatment. I don’t make any money on you guys and I’m not giving you guys carts if people paying me are here. You can walk. He said. Also made us wait 30 minutes until everyone else got checked in. Will never ever go there again nor recommend this to anyone EVER.
Horrible horrible horrible
Horrible. Spend your money elsewhere. The course is in the worst condition I’ve ever seen it. NOT WORTH YOUR TIME OR MONEY. So sad as this course used to be pristine gem that I loved playing here and there. DO NOT PLAY.
Hidden Gem!
Such tremendous improvement in the last 2 years. The staff are all very friendly. I would highly recommend this course and I plan on returning soon. I would suggest bringing extra golf balls!
Gorgeous view
Such a beautiful course! The staff have been working really hard and it shows. The greens look really good as well. It is still a little wet due to the recent snowfall but the course played extremely well for this time of year. I would say even better than some local city courses. The weather was sunny and being out in the woods is so relaxing. I will definitely be back!
Sad deterioration
I used to love this course and would tell so many about how amazing it was. I played it two days ago and it is in the saddest condition and so terrible. Not worth the time or money now. So sad!!!
Elkhorn not a gem of a course anymore
We hae played Elkhorn 2-3 times in the past while it was still beautiful and well maintained. But truly shocked at the condition of the course, brown fairways, rugged pathways, just simply neglected course. We wanted to leave even before finishing 9 holes! And they charged $45. It should be removed from golf now.com. Truly disappointed and basically sad that this course has gone downhill.
All things considered
Thjs course is unique, nothing else like it around. Worth the drive i every way. The conditions went through tough times when the main water pump and lines failed but the work has been done to correct the problem and return to playing condition.. Highly recommend! If you have never played it may not be the best starter course. Whether or not you have played it is recommended that extra balls be tossed in the bag.. Hard to ay without losing balls. Many areas would require half a day to find your ball, even when the fairway is missed by a club length. No exaggeration
Getting better
This is one of the most beautiful places for a golf course. It had water problems 2 years ago and the course got in real bad shape. It is taking some time to get it back in condition but it is much better than the last time I played it.
not great
We got into our golf cart and noticed that most of the bolts holding the seats and the top of the cart were either missing or not bolted in. We proceeded and were approached by staff on the 7th hole to make sure our carts were still operating so we traded out to a safer cart at that time. the course was in need of some major care. The greens were not cut and some were in terrible shape with brown spots and missing grass. One person in our party got stung by wasps that were in the on course restroom. We informed staff and the response was oh we know about the problem and are going to spray. the one thing we did like was the scenery, beautiful location.
Sad to see how this course has deteriorated
This course used to be in prime condition by April. Once the Cutlers sold out, it has gone downhill. Unmowed and diseased tee boxes, rough and diseased greens make the golfing experience one you do not want to repeat. The setting in the valley surrounded by forest and hills/mountains, some snow covered, is what brings one back.
How Sad
"The Elk" or Elkhorn Valley used to be a gem in the wilderness. The latest owners have let it go to absolute junk. For a course that was rated in the top 10 9 holers years back to be in this horrible of condition is criminal. I can't imagine what it would take to bring it back.
Go elsewhere
My brother and I played this course seven or eight years ago and it was absolutely beautiful. We played September 15 and the course is a disaster. Driving up to it you can see the fairways are yellow and burnt. Driving the golf cart through the fairways to reach your ball you can see the dust cloud behind the cart. That is how dry and dead the fairways are. They are doing the best they can to keep the greens from dying so they are over watered and spongy. I had a few balls plug. In areas on the greens that are not getting the water there is no grass! You are putting over dirt. Not an exaggeration at all. It's almost a 2 hour drive for my brother and I and we were highly disappointed.
Thank you for your comment. Elkhorn has had quite a bit of rainfall in the last few weeks which has made the ground too soft to mow in some areas. Now that warmer weather is coming our way it shouldn't take long to get caught up. I am so glad you were able to come visit our course and we hope to see you again soon!
