Great course for the money and being a private club it’s everything you’d expect!
Greens rolled true, fairways plush, overall a good time on a nice course.
Way overpriced for the course.......
Even with lunch and a beer, this course, with the exception of the greens is in poor condition and should not cost more than $25 to play. Pace of play is extremely slow as well.
Greens were great
Greens were great. Fairways were terrible. Lots of weeds, hardly any grass. Tees were good. Free lunch was a definite plus. Pretty descent value.
Great experience
Fairways are in the process of turning out. Great value. Lunch and a weekend round for $60 can’t beat it. Staff was great.
Nice Deal
Good course, we played in the rain the course holds water in the fairways. The greens drained well. Overall good course for the price and the included lunch at the end of the round.
Great layout, but fairways brown and muddy for spring round
I love the layout - beautiful and challenging - but the fairways were all brown and muddy on our 4/9/21 round. Given the lush green grass of most of the rest of the area I expected greener fairways. It was worse than just brown though, most were muddy and we frequently got very tight lies. Looking forward to it greening up for summer.
Once great course turned terrible
I was shocked to be charged full summer weekend rates the third Saturday in April especially with that rate being an increase from last year. But what really upset me is the fairways had not even started to comeback, just a lot of dormant grass and little flags in the holes that actually kept the balls out if you hit them. Anything but the ball barely making it to the hole did not go in. Plus you could not see the "utility line" marking flags they used from anywhere but the green. As for the greens themselves, they needed rolling more than a goat pasture. My 20+ buddies and I have played there 6-8 times a year for many years now but never again and I'm telling everyone to stay away.
Play Elsewhere
It wasn’t difficult to figure out why this course has been struggling for membership for years. Pace of play from the one group of members on the course had 2 groups backed up on 10 tee. That was after waiting behind that same group for the entire front 9. After skipping a hole we were hit into on 11 and the clubhouse called. Ranger came out to lecture us on not asking to play through. Which wasn’t surprising that they would stick up for the inconsiderate members. The 10-15 members still left at Glen Oaks are more than welcome to enjoy it for another year or two until it closes.
Good but Fairways Rough
Greens in very good shape. Not fast but true. Tees fine. Fairways overgrown and long.Rough generally good in most spots with some bare patches.
Layout very average. Lots of target golf so play back further than you normally would.
Awesome price with a.food and drink included. Food was great.
Love this Country Club
Jamie and Becky Miller and Staff have done a wonderful job in just a short time. The condition and care of both course, club house and eating facilities have improved 100%.
The programs that the club has offered in several memberships are excellent and it shows in course play which also shows in course management!
The course is in a beautiful setting and excellent shape with ongoing improvements to bunkers and traps; improvements are coming significantly along in the past 365 days.
Not only is the course beautiful but the improvements to the dining facilities are very relaxing clean and comfortable. Great "bar" food at excellent prices. We now go there even if we aren't playing golf.
Thank you Jamie, Beckie, Doug ,Daniel, Justin and the complete staff for making it so pleasurable and enjoying.
Played for the $18 special
Played Sunday, September 11 for the $18 special. With that you got 18 holes, cart, range balls and beer. The range was in terrible condition, with ropes set up to give the golfer about 3 feet to hit from. The tees were in bad shape, fairways were pretty good and greens were good. Pace of play is an issue. And the sand traps and water hazards are in need of repair. I only noticed 1 sand trap that actually had sand in it. For $18, a pretty good deal, for anymore than that, I will pass.
Great course with wide variety of holes.
Fun course to play with good balance of tight and wide open holes. Some risk reward holes will reward risk taking but allow safe shots. Par fives are generally fronted by lakes or tight landing zones so going for the green in two with a fairway wood can be risky. Scenic course bounded by houses on many holes, but houses do not come into play unless you are very wild. Conditions were good for mid-November. Greens were challenging. Staff was very friendly.
Very picturesque
First time playing Glen Oaks. DEFINITELY won't be my last! Gorgeous views winding in and out of woods and over streams with many altitude changes. Gorgeous waterfall on #8! My new favorite in Louisville region. I like it at least as well as Heritage Hill in Sheperdsville. This is my new favorite course. Can't wait to play it again.
