I left a 2 star review on google and it felt too high. So had to come to hear to leave a proper review. I love golf course architecture, and this course has that. Unique, fun, challenging, different, difficult. But wow what poor conditioning. Rough is overgrown. Fairways are long. Tee boxes uneven. Bunkers ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC. Way too expensive, cart path only? When the course is perfectly dry. Such a waste. If you live anywhere near another public golf course. Go there over here. .
After a 2 1/2 hour front nine our group ended up quitting after 13. Waited on every shot because even though every drive bounced and rolled like normal we weren’t allowed off the cart path. This after not having any rain the day before. Every par 3 tee box is crowned so you either stand on top the mound with the ball below your feet or stand down the mound with the ball above your feet. Significantly. Bunkers were mostly dirt and unplayable. For $53 it is quite a ripoff.
Lassing Always Good
You can typically count on Lassing being in good shape and it was. Fairways and greens good and difficult thick rough. Range and short game/putting warm up area are very good. They've kept the place up well this summer.
Why complain? We're playing golf
We love this track! We would love to have the bunkers in better condition but with everything going on we get it. The fairways and greens were in excellent condition and the staff was super friendly and helpful. We're all pretty blessed to get out and play right now so let's keep it in perspective and not be to rough on the supers and their crew. Thanks for giving us a place to play.
Not the #1 public course in Ky.
They have touted this course as being the best public course in the state which isn’t true. The conditions are close to top notch but a couple bunkers were under repair and a couple others were unplayable even though not under repair. A few of the tee boxes on the par 3’s need some attention to them or tees need to moved to let them regrow. We played in an outing for the MGA (mediocre golfers association) so the pace of play was expected to be slower than normal and they didn’t appear to overbook the course which wasn’t nice. It’s not a very challenging course but it’s a good mix of openness and tightness. Greens rolled true and dried up pretty quickly leaving them fast (which I like) but they were all in fantastic shape. There’s a few longer holes (400+ yard par 4’s) and the par 3’s average about 165 or 170 with the par 5’s just over 500 yards but there’s also 5 or 6 par 4’s that are about 320-350. It was an enjoyable round but for 55.00 I’d rather play a couple other local courses.
Could be great!
Yes this course has so much potential!! GREENS and FAIRWAYS are excellent. TEE BOXES and BUNKERS are terrible. The bunkers have weeds in them and several are unplayable. BOONE COUNTY needs to get there act together and get this place in the shape it should be. If your going to charge people $54 w/cart during the week then the course needs to be in that good of shape . The ROUGH , well is just that .... ROUGH. Very patching and overlooked. TEE BOXES are a mess. Most par 3 boxes are uneven and not cares for. Like I said so much potential. Just needs some TLC.
Very mixed feeling about this course. Stopped at Lassing Pointe on way home from Tennessee. Staff was very accommodating to get us out and at the time we teed off they were sending players off the 10th tee. When we came off the 18th to start our back 9 front local player were rudely (vulgar language) accusing us of cutting in front of them. That was not warranted and the pro shop should have explained to them that they had teed players off the 10th to expect us and others. The course itself is a good routing. Condition of the bunkers needs to be better as the sand is very hard packed. Greens had been tined about a week ago but they were running fine. Question would be would I go back. I don't think so, as the local golfers we ran into were not very friendly at all.
Great layout and value
excellent layout and offered a good mix of challenging and get-able holes. easily one of the top courses we played on our trip. clubhouse was nice and the staff great.
Don't waste your time
This course is definitely not a top public course. The course was not in good shape at all. The fairways were extremely long, the rough was patchy, the bunkers were disgusting, and the greens were very slow and the break was inconsistent from green to green. On top of this, I played right after a few days of heavy rain causing the entire course to be completely soaked. the balls plugged and there was mud everywhere. The staff was not friendly either. The man in the pro shop was very unpleasant and was not friendly. The one interesting part of this course is the 18th green. this green is so large that if you had to put from one side to the other, you would have to take a full swing with a putter! Don't waste your time with this course.
This course is awesome. It is long, but fair as long as you stay on the fairways. I will be back.
Lassing Pointe continues to be an excellently laid out course. The greens the day that I played were furry and slow, however rolled true. The rest of the course was in excellent shape with thick rough and close cut fairways/tee boxes. Pace of play was slow with a 4 hour and 45 minute round on a weekday morning.
Lassing is coming back strong
As a Boone county native i remember Lassing from 10-15 years ago as being immaculate one of the nicest courses in the state but it has really gone downhill over the past 7 years or so.... but i am happy to say that it is coming back to what it once was. Very nice layout and the conditions are phenomenal compared to recent years... Lassing is coming back very strong...
This course used to be good, but now it needs a lot of work. Fairways were high, most bunkers need work and the greens were really slow about a 6.5 stimp. Pretty good amount of poa on the greens too. Good news it was Mother's Day so nobody was playing. I was able to play in 2 hours.
Many of the bunkers are officially GUR and the sand that is is many is not deep enough and of poor quality.
