Course in very bad shape
I’ll start with the staff was great, the course layout is great, but it was in horrible shape. It’s too bad, because the layout is very good. I was visiting and wanted to get in a quick and will probably not return there. Only because the course is beat down and it’s obvious that no money is going into it. That’s too bad, especially since it’s a city course. The gentleman I played with said none of the other city courses are in such shape, I wonder why that is.
Good Value
This is a nice track with a variety of holes. The staff was excellent and the golf fun. I'll play here again.
Much Improved GC
20 years ago, when the city ran it, the course was pretty bad. Then they hired a contractor to run the city courses and they improved. Now with the course closed for two months, they really improved it, especially the greens. They aren't professional fast, but they are smooth and uniform.
Forest park in early March
Our threesome was first off - an hour before our scheduled tee time. Grass just beginning to grow in the fairways. Most greens in good condition. Ranger in the course. Wasn’t cart path only after last night rain we had a great time on the course. Good food special on the 19th hole. Friendly staff. Played here three times last year. We will be back
Fairly priced for fairly condition course
Great staff, good pace of play. Course conditions could use a boost, yet it is late November. Several holes are narrow, but layout is setup for various levels to enjoy.
Potential to be a hidden gem
The staff are friendly and eager to make your visit a great experience it was Veterans day and the course was fully booked, played 13, due to slow play and diminishing light. The course superintendent was trying to jockey people along to no avail as people continued to size up 12" putts. The course was in very good condition and the greens would benefit if patrons took the time to repair their pitch marks, clubhouse was a friendly place and patrons made me feel welcome. I will play here again.
Great bang for your buck.
Forrest Park golf course is a very challenging yet rewarding public course. I always enjoy playing a round here. You are usually finished with your round in less than 4 hours.
Great staff and great play for the money
I enjoy this course very much. The staff is very friendly, and the people that play here, have been playing for a long time, and they are also very friendly. The course has some good distance for such a low price. Some of the holes are on top of each other. If you are a pro, this may not be your scene. If you are looking to play with some average and some below average, this is a great course for you. A lot of people play this course, so if you are patient you will be fine, but the front 9 can get backed up some. Will definitely continue to play.
Great intermediate course
Enjoyed the course. Cart paths a little rough but overall good course for the price.
Greens
A couple of the greens seemed to be in renovation mode, and the cart path can be harrrsh, but this is a solid course for the money (at least later in the day when I paid)
City Course
Staff was friendly and the course is fine for a City Course.
Pace of play can be slow at times but I would not expect it to be better just because its a nice course for those on a budget and learning the game. I will say that I have played here maybe 12 times and only hole # 5 and #18 have I never come close to getting a Birdie.. So I will be back The front Nine plays much different than the back Nine so its makes for a good challenge. and change.
Just wish Golfers would fix their marks on the Greens. and/or the staff spend a little more time attending to fixing those divots. Finally the greens are normally slow as they are not cut and rolled as often as other course.
