The course was in great shape. The greens were slower than usual but I attribute that to the drought. One of my favorite courses.Great staff. Great food.
Great Track
The first impression I got was the course has the feel of a high end country club. Friendly staff, the starter, ranger, and even the young man who checked us in was friendly and informative.
The layout was challenging but also not very intimidating, except for a couple of long par 3's. Very good conditions considering we have been in a major drought, most fairways were still lush and very few dry areas. I played with my neice who hit from the red tees and she found it challenging but also fun to play.
We didn't try the restaurant, as we had dinner reservations elsewhere, but did look at the merchandise in the pro-shop, which we thought was small and limited.
Had a great time and definitely will be back, even going to inquire about a membership.
Great course for the Cape
Played this course with my father who’s a 30+ handicap and I’m an 18, course was in amazing condition. Staff was friendly and helpful. Layout was beautiful. Challenging course for almost any level. Worth the money.
First Time. Won't be the Last.
For the time of year, this course is WAY ahead of some of the other courses in the area (Captains, Pine Hills). Everything lush, lies fantastic, greens true. Only draw back is that is pricy.
Tough Walk
Course was very nice. Took us about 4:45 to play, which was 2:30 on front and 2:15 on back. Made the mistake of walking 18 with a push cart. There are some VERY long walks between holes. Sometimes the path lets you out in the fairway and you have to look left or right and see that tee is 75 yards back in one direction or other. If 18 holes is typically 4-5 miles, this felt like 6-7 miles. So, take a riding cart if at all in doubt. We didn’t see a mobile beverage purveyor until the 14th hole, and her first words approaching me were “I don’t take cash” (which i don’t carry). Since she didn’t open with “good afternoon” or “can i get you something to drink?”, she clearly knew that her inability to accept digital payments was a problem. Hopefully, they put a Square reader or other mobile payment device on the cart soon.
Awesome
The course was challenging but not to hard for novice/ intermediate players. The wildlife was great. Look for a family of foxes on the 12 th fairway. Nicest course I’ve played in a long time.
Fall golf at its best
Hats off to Cranberry Valley for maintaining a beautiful golf course. The T boxes are in great shape as are the fairways and greens. It’s always a pleasure to golf on a well maintained course.
Worth it
Staff was friendly and great, course design was fun, sometimes at muni’s the rangers are a bit much but the guy working when we played was super cool and even located a few of our shots which proved to be very helpful, pace was decent for a muni
Raining
Played in the rain, afraid golf now would not give our money back if we didn’t play. Course was in great shape, played fast no one else was playing. Would Like to play again in better weather.
This course is quite unhospitable.
This course was OK, was not having a problem. Nothing spectacular, but everything was OK until we were approached by a Ranger to tell us that we were playing slow, even though we did not see a group in front of us or behind us the whole day. Was kind of surprised that he had asked us to speed up but OK, his course, his rules. But then two holes later he procedes again to tell us that we were playing too slow. At this point I checked the time and I saw we were on pace to do a two hour and 15 minute front, after pointing that out to the Ranger he said “well we like a two hour front and a two hour back”, which would make it a four hour round which I do not know of many places that really want to see that. And at 60 years old I have played a lot of courses. I questioned the Ranger, “why are you hassling us because I haven’t seen anyone in front of us or behind us yet today” and he told me that “the pro likes the foursomes to be right behind each other he does not like open gaps”, so, instead of having a nice round without seeing anyone, I now have to rush because the pro doesn’t like to see a gap. On a busy day not unreasonable, on a day like today totally ridiculous, actually I felt harassed. The reason I’m writing this is because once again once we made the turn the pro actually came out to tell us to hurry up again, three times within 45 minutes and I still haven’t seen anybody. These people are very full of themselves, he thinks he’s running Saint Andrews over there, I find the pro to be a bit of full of himself. The course is OK, like I said, quite un-hospitable. I would not recommend playing the course there are plenty of other nice ones in the area. Besides at $100 it is not the best bargain in town.
Cranberry Valley- an awesome vacation getaway!
Always a treat to include Cranberry Valley as a favorite Cape Cod vacation treat. If I lived in the area, it would be my home course!
