Waverly Woods Golf Course

This was a very unique course i was able to play a couple of weeks ago,

This course keeps it simple kinda like a steak,

They really focus on the grass quality and layout and less focused on bunkers or water hazards like allot of maryland course do,

This made the course a blast to play because the ground started to firm up which ment you couldnt play anything straight at the whole,

They really design this course to be tough by having down hill shots roll off in the back or just have a straight up blind approach shot to the green so you need to know what your doing,

Extremely hilly all around the course and specifically makes it tough around the greens on long approach shots and often time you want to aim for the hill infront behind or even to the side of the greens so they bounce off and roll down, i cant tell you how many shots i thought i left short or to the right that ended up in perfect posistion on the green,

Fairways were tame, Rough was cut low but on the right day might be a nightmare to get into and what is special is all the crazy long stuff that line the woods that can be seen in the one picture, which may be worse then having water because atleast with water you have a chance of the ball bouncing out, Greens just about perfect not too plain and not to shelfy and not impossibly fast and not slow just about right,

Was absolutely amazed with this course. Played with a friend who plays somewhere every week and we both couldn’t stop talking about the course. Absolutely beautiful course, challenging but won’t drive you crazy. Best course I have played in Maryland but far.

It was a wet day, cart paths only and it took about 5 hrs to play. A lot of ball damage on the greens. Overall it was a good and challenging day for several reasons. When I’ve played before the course has been excellent.

This is a scenic and well-maintained course set in hilly terrain. The staff and golfers are very friendly and even supportive, but it is challenging for a beginner because of the moderately fast pace (new parties every 10 minutes) and many hazards. Distance between greens and next tees tend to be long and a cart is almost a must. Beginners can enjoy this course if not too focused on score and can afford to lose a lot of balls! Intermediate and advanced golfers have told me they always find it "satisfyingly" challenging as well!

LOVE the grass on this course. It's deep where it needs to be, soft in the fairways and the first cut, the greens were fast and my ball stuck on them during my approach. Highly reccommend

I can’t say a beautiful, cloudless day at 65 degrees didn’t help, but this course was as good as any I’ve played in the last 6 months. It was the only one in recent memory that had fast fairways where balls actually ran out. Greens were fast but slightly bumpy from aeration. Tees were in reasonable shape. For me pace of play never counts against a course because it’s not their fault. The layout is challenging but not unfair. Lots of varied terrain and many memorable holes. If course was $10 less per round, I would say it was a value. Overall, a good play for $60 or less.

Course was very dry, hard, and fast. Several dry spots around the greens. Needs some water. Greens were ridiculously fast due to hard dry conditions. Maybe it was meant to make you feel like you am were at Winged Foot. Landed a good pitching wedge 1 foot from the pin and it bounced and rolled to off the back. Pin was in the middle. Nice layout and challenging. A bit more expensive than courses in the area and I didn’t see why.

I really liked this course. There was a very slow foursome 2 or 3 ahead of us, and course management/starter took care of the delay. I don't know how they resolved it but once the alert came on the GPS, within 2 holes, we never saw the foursome in front of us again.

I thought the course was in great shape. Grass Driving range was very nice as well. Driving range was a bit crowded for my liking.

I used a hot deal and had a 15% coupon for this course and paid $52. I am a cheap golfer and felt $52 was a good deal for this course, but don't know if I would pay any more.

Would I play again? Absolutely. But wouldnt want to pay more than $50-60 range.

Great staff, fairways and tee boxes were awesome , greens were ok, but it’s been tough with all the rain. Highly recommend, absolutely worth the money.

Would give 5 stars if not for sandy greens due to aeration of 3 weeks ago. Fairways in great shape. Hadn't played here in 15 years and I'll be back again. Will be a yearly stop with tee time pass.

The best course I’ve played on this season. Great condition and layout.

I would suggest the club house get faster with food at the turn. Players want to get in and get out so it won’t slow the flow of play.

My group will return!
