Nice course but!
Course is nice and very open, but conditions of fairways and greens were not what I expected for such an expensive round. I’ve played cheaper courses that were better maintained.
Timbers
Tee boxes and greens were in really rough shape. Fairways were good for the most part, there was a tournament that day so lots of unfilled divots. Layout is fine, not worth $80ish for a weekday afternoon, certainly not the $100+ the price they charge for prime times.
Extremely rude staff
Very rude pro shop manager Tom who talks down to customers. Left without playing and will not be back due to this experience. Do not recommend.
Coming from Florida a nice change.
Tee boxes were level and in good condition. Fairways were firm and excellent condition. Rough was challenging due to depth. Sand traps were good and greens were fast with a lot of movement.
Timbers is the worst bang for the buck.
This course has always been lacking of quality fairway, roughs, and greens, but I played there recently during the peak season of golf where the course should be lush and in tip top condition even at your cheapest municipal course, but not Timbers. Timbers, as always, was in awful condition even during peak season. Not to mention the staff is rude. TERRIBLE irrigation. It hasn’t rained in days and the fairways were still muddy. While other courses you can ride cart on the course, it was still cart path only at Timbers and they threatened to kick me out if they saw even one wheel touch the rough off the cart path. 🤣 And the worst part is they charge an arm and a leg for a round of what’s possibly worst value possible. Save your money and play elsewhere.
Big Difference
I haven't played Timbers in a while because of the rude staff, inconsistent course conditions, and terrible pace of play, but I really enjoyed my most recent visit.
I still disagree with them allowing walkers, but for a midday Hot Deal, I was able to get in & out in under 3.5 hrs in a threesome. It would have been a different story if I was behind the walkers group behind me.
In any event, a good play. The course was in good shape, the greens were in great shape and the hot dogs are always perfect. It should be noted that I played on a Tuesday at 11:45am.
Golf Now or Timbers @ Troy
On reaching the course, we were told that the 18 holes were not open and we would have to play 18 by repeating the first 9 holes. In addition, the greens were totally aerated with sand all over.
We would have appreciated it if Golf Now would have let us know the condition of the course PRIOR to purchase.
The Timbers staff mentioned that Golf Now is aware of the conditions and should have informed us. I cannot confirm or disconfirm the veracity of this claim.
My recommendation for the course is based on current conditions.
Beautiful course
I play Timbers at least 4 times a year. Always in good condition. Tough test of golf. Great amenities. Wonderful staff. Nice practice area.
