Worth the very low rate.
We were able to get on with an hours notice but the experience was less than ideal. Long back up as management just let a bunch of twosomes go out which created the backups. Very affordable greens fee but have low expectations going into it.
Good for what it is
Surprisingly good condition for early spring. Greens were clear and fast, fairways had some debris but nothing that shouldn’t be expected from a public course this time of year. Not a super challenging layout but the combination of the front uphill climb and back downhill slope keep it interesting. Great for walking and would certainly recommend it to those looking to knock the dust off their short game or beginners getting familiar with their clubs. The price was spot on and is certainly something that will keep me coming back.
Stoneham Oaks
Had to change things up & got a quick round in here. Nice little par 3. Still a lot of leaves & an incredibly slow twosome (not the course's fault). Course seemed in good shape. Great place to get a quick round in & work in the mid & short game.
Amazing value
Cant beat the price at this course. Great for practice. NO PRESSURE!! 10/10
Great Little Course in Bad Shape
The course was fun to play, maintenance of course is horrible with leaves, divots and roots everywhere. To check in, you had to call someone's cell phone and they just confirmed.
With all that being said, for 15 dollars, you can't complain. It plays fast and it is a great practice round. Just count the leaves and divots as obstacles you need to get through.
Nice course to work on the short game
I have played Stoneham Oaks probably 6 times this year, walking all but once. It’s a short course, and I only use my driver a couple of times but most experienced golfers could play with their irons, a couple of wedges and a putter. I like it because as a newer golfer I can work on my woods, chipping and putting for $15 dollars on average. I saw new benches, signage and bal- washing stations, a welcome upgrade. It’s not a fancy course, but I have come to appreciate it. And right next door is Unicorn, Stoneham’s other municipal course, and that is where you can work on your full game or enjoy a complete round.
Good for working on your short game and narrow fairways
I have played this course before and while I didn’t love it last time I knew I needed to return because it is a good course to work on my short game. It is a municipal course and it’s very clear the Stoneham, MA does not prioritize it (to say the least) but the elevation changes make it fun. I can also get a same day tee time fairly easily, which I appreciate. Staff is very helpful and friendly. It’s also a great value for a shorter 9 hole course (as low as $11 at times). I will return soon.
Anazing 9 hole par 3
