Play only if you area a Billy Goat
Walked course and barely made it back to club house.
Several holes are too steep to manage a pushcart /walk.
Some holes you must climb straight up then down. Almost fell several times.
Climbed up/down serval holes to find truncated for winter play.
That is understandable but not after climbing straight up and down.
- Effort not worth the cost.
- Billy goat course.
- Play only if you take a cart.
- Not worth the price and impossible terrain.
-Cheaper and 100% better courses nearby. (15$ vs $22).
Over charged for Sr. rate.
Excellent
Its a 27 hole course; Fox, Hawk, and Heron. The twilight rate is fantastic; pay for 9 and play until dark. We actually played Fox and Hawk; two totally different courses with both in excellent shape. Fox was the first 9 so it was busier/slower play but not sure if that is also because it starts closer to the club house. Hawk was the second 9 and the first hole is a pretty good hike away from the club house; we didn't have anyone in front of or behind us which added to the enjoyment.
Fox was a great course and a lot of fun but Hawk was fantastic. If you're headed to Far Corner, make sure Hawk is one of the 9s you play. Hawk had significant elevation changes on many holes that made it challenging, fun, and gave it some great views. Will absolutely be back.
Awesome 27 Hole Course
I played here a few weeks back after randomly finding it doing some research online. Growing up in neighboring Andover, I decided to give it a try. Took me around an hour to drive there from Boston. I played all 27 holes. The conditions were good and I enjoyed the difficult layout. Staff was incredibly helpful.
Fox/Hawk: Very Difficult but a Gem Worth the Drive
About an hour's drive from Boston offers one of the most challenging and stunningly beautiful layouts you'll find in New England this fall. Although it offers many changes in elevation from tee to green, the views here are not of a distant landscape, but of the vibrant colors in the leaves surrounding the course. Even the trees that have yet to surrender their green are bold and blend nicely with the orange, red, and yellow lining each hole.
There are three nine-hole courses on the premises to choose from, and we were assigned the Fox and Hawk courses. The two had very different layouts but played equally tough. Fox had many doglegs while Hawk was almost exclusively straight. The real challenges on both were the dramatic changes in elevation. There are hardly any flat holes to play. Some begin up high while others start low at the base of a hill and are played straight up the side, with the flag remaining out of view until the second or even third shot.
The greens were by far the fastest and most difficult I have played on this year. They have clearly been kept in phenomenal condition, but hacks like myself will find that even tapped putts will roll off the green and back into the fairway quite easily. The speed and slope definitely gets into your head and you find that the holes seem much smaller than usual.
Pace of play was slow due to us being a riding twosome stuck behind a couple groups of shorter-hitting golfers, but I don't think it's something that would be commonplace.
My friend and I agreed that we would come back in a heartbeat, and the knowledge of the layout gained from your first time here will make future visits much easier to play. It's certainly a hike when you consider the amount of public courses near the city, but it's absolutely worth it if you are tired of playing the same loops over and over. And as I said before, the colors of fall can't be beat.
Very Good Golfers Course
The course is suffering from the drought we are having - particularly off fairway - or where ever the water system cannot reach. Greens are in excellent condition, as is the sand and other areas unaffected by the drought. Challenging fair course from the whites for a 12-15 handicapper. Pace of play is very very good. Staff excellent and marsh-alled well.
18 at Far Corners
Really enjoyed this course!! Many memorable holes.... # 11 on Heron, 9 on Fox Course is in fantastic shape, pace of play was great!! Greens are quick and lush. Not a far drive from Boston so no reason not to get out and experience this North Shore gem!!
