Course in very good shape even though the greens were wet in the morning
Great course
Lots of hills, many blind shots. Quite a challenge. Very nice greens.
100 Years old
Not bad for an old lady! Established in 1921. She stills looks great!
Carts
The new electronics on the carts are nice but still have some bugs to work out. When approaching the greens a proximity alarm sounds which is difficult to deactivate. And it starts almost 50 yards from the greens. Sometimes the hole doesn’t change automatically or your position isn’t advanced on the screen . All in all still a welcome addition
Total hidden gem
This is a solid track ! The closest to "up north" golf in west Michigan and I've played every course around. The first two holes - straight forward par 4 then par 5 - may lull you into thinking it's a cakewalk, but you will be pleasantly surprised from there on. The course has plenty of blind shots, dog legs, tight to wide open fairways (immaculate btw) elevation and enough hazards to keep things interesting. The greens are in top shape - receptive- pin placement was challenging but fair. Putts even from a distance rolled true; with a good read and proper pace they are make-able. 7 and 10 are a bombers dream. Two holes on the back 9 have false fronts (12 and 14) and will come back on you if you don't stick them long enough. 16 (blind tee shot) rolls right even with a middle of fairway shot so best to play far left side or be blocked out by a tree. My only complaint would be that the bunkers are dirt and almost unplayable so to be avoided at all cost. Speaking of cost I paid Monday senior rate $37, which was astounding. Pro shop small but adequate, the woman I met was very nice. If this were my home course I would be a very happy man. Highly recommended; I will be back and often.
Fun Century old course
Drive a good hour to play here because we like the old school layout and the great pricing we get w golfnow-pass. Although not a Donald Ross like the former Ionia country club/ Shadow Ridge this hilly old track has a lot of character.
Good conditions but tough sloped greens
Senior wife shot a great 45 on front so she was happy, happy wife happy life.
