A beautiful and challenging course
This is a beautiful and well maintained tree lined course with long par 5s, challenging par 3s, water hazards, ditches, tricky undulating greens and one hole with separate greens for the guys and gals.
The pro shop provides a detailed booklet to help navigate and strategize the entire course. This helps a lot.
I’d recommend this course for anyone but beginner golfers who would likely struggle with the length and slopey greens.
Very nice course!
I bought this on a Hot Deal the night before, I chose to go solo. I figured I would be paired up, the nice guy in the pro shop said I was good to go... Saying they don't usually pair up Golfnow with others. I seen another guy walking up also solo. I said I'll see if he wants to play together. He did and we flew through the front nine. The back nine we caught up to a 4-some there were others in front of them... So we didn't get offered a chance to play through. It was fine the weather was awesome and we were just enjoying the weather! It was my first time there, I enjoyed it and thought the course was in great shape for mid-April. I will definitely try and play it again in the future! Actually I should mention, the website says the carts have GPS and that is false information. The guy I played with said they removed them some time ago. Other than it was a very enjoyable round of golf... The greens were nice a smooth!
Casual Golf Reviews
Walked 18 at Cascades Golf Course in Jackson, MI this morning. What a beautiful course. The front 9 is a little more hilly and has a few more trees. The back 9 is a little flatter, a little more open but also has a little more water. A unique feature of this course is the par 3, 11th hole has two greens.
Overall Rating 10/10
Conditions 10/10
I would say perfect course conditions. The greens were really nice, putted at Goldilocks speed, not too fast and not too slow, they were just right.
Friendliness 10/10
Multiple tee boxes on every hole to accommodate a variety of golfers. Although there are a lot of trees the fairways are wide and the rough is thick which helps to keep the ball in play.
Returnabilty 10/10
I could play here everyday, I really enjoyed this course.
Cost 10/10
$15 to walk 18 you can’t beat that price, less than a dollar a hole plus you get some exercise.
Best Muny in the mid-Michigan area
Cascades is always in great shape, greens roll true. It is a playable, but challenging layout, so choose your tees wisely. Excellent and friendly staff.
Cascades
Course beat shape. But starting to dry out. Chip andd run for sure
Absolutely beautiful
Couldn’t have dreamed up better weather or conditions this morning. Classic Michigan Summer early morning. Tee Time. 8:48, and just beat the heat. Fairways were beautiful and greens were in top shape. Only wish I’d hit the ball a little better. Hah! Love the course. Love Michigan. Love golfin. I’d recommend the course to anyone that enjoys the game. Even if that back to back par 5, hole 1-2 punch makes or breaks ya!!
Cascades was a little wet, but if you kept it in the fairway it was no problem. Greens could have been a tad faster, but if you were putting down hill & down grain you would be glad they aren't.
Jackson's Granddaddy
Cascades GC is cool. One of the older ones around. They have a short course and a driving range away from the clubhouse.
The course opens you up with two 500+ par 5s. (Both pretty straight, one declines and one inclines.) The par 3s are simple but the longer par 4s is where they'll get you. The traps were clean and crisp and the greens were in a good shape.
The guys are the clubhouse are always helpful. The only beef I have is paying $32.00 on a Monday morning when the course in empty. Drop it to around $26/$27 and you'd see me more often!
Good course though!
Great value
The course was in great shape. I think it’s a great price for the challenge presented. You can tell if the course has been around for a while, because of the large stands of trees, several of which I am on a first name basis with now.
