Really enjoyed this course and the service was top notch. Beer carts going around but could also order straight from your cart and it would be delivered in a hole or two. Course was in great shape especially considering how dry it has been here lately
Great Course
Fairways and Greens were in excellent condition and pace of play was perfect!
Not my favorite
The course layout is great, and a bit challenging. There is a huge garbage dump nearby. I thought at barely over 40 degrees it wouldn’t be a problem, but the breeze was bringing the smell right to us. In the summer afternoons, the deer flies are thick. Also the back 9 was closed for spraying, but we weren’t notified until we arrived. It’s too bad about the dump, it’s a beautiful course otherwise. I won’t be going back.
The greens...
The greens are in great shape in October. Very impressed. The course keeps hiding my ball under leaves, so that's challenging. Yay fall golf.
Great Course in the Area
We have some nice choices in the Battle Creek area and The Medalist is among the best.
The GPS units were updated this year so if you are reading complaints from previous years, you can disregard as the problem was fixed. The new gps units are nice and include ‘to the pin’ for the center values. The ads did not delay me more than maybe 15-30 seconds a time or two.
The course is one of my favorites because there are only a few holes adjacent to each other. Each hole is its own so you don’t see others and you don’t have to wait for someone on another hole to hit from your fairway. Players who tend to spray their driver will likely lose several balls.
The range is top notch and includes one of the few TopTracers in the state. You can have fun playing closest to the pin and long-drive contests along with practice data to fine tune your numbers.
My favorite part of the Medalist is that the staff never seems annoyed by someone like me showing up and “racing the sun” to get 9 or 18 in. Other courses in the area seem annoyed if the staff has to work a minute past sundown. The Medalist team is always welcoming and glad to get you out to the course.
Nice course but very slow
This is a very challenging narrow course that was in great condition. Unfortunately the pace was very slow. Had to wait on almost every tee box. The course could use a marshal to keep the pace of play. Hopefully this was an anomaly..
