Stony Creek Golf Course
About
Stony Creek is part of the Huron-Clinton Metroparks system and many locals consider it to be one of its gems. There aren't any residences near the golf course, giving it a secluded feel and providing unhindered views from the elevated tees. The course opened in 1976 but underwent a major renovation that included re-sculpting the bunkers and reconditioning the entire golf course. The layout features several doglegs and a surprising amount of elevation changes. The fairways are tightly lined with trees and bunkers are strategically placed along the greensides and landing zones. There are also lakes and ponds that come into play on six holes on the front nine and three on the back. Stony Creek's par-3 17th is the most memorable water hole and the 14th is also notable for its tiny "postage stamp" green.

Decent course but...
Not worth it using GolfNow website. You have to pay $7.00 to enter the park. They gave me a voucher to get $4.00 back but the starter desk would not redeem it because I pre-paid on the website. I actually cost more to use the GolfNow website than it would have if I just paid when I got there. Course in ok condition. Tee boxes need work and some of the fairways are not in good shape. We did play 18 holes in 3 hr 45 mins which was nice. Overall a 6 to 7 out of 10
Took 5 hours an 15 mins to play 18, 3 hours for 9
It took us 3 hours to play 9 holes, the group in front of us was playing about 3 shots per ball, and about 10 mins on the greens. Waited 15 mins per shot, plus the group behind was playing right into us. Almost hit one of my friends. Say they space out 18 mins per tee time. Absolutely not, right after I teed, the next group was waiting. Don't ever play here if you don't have you're entire day open
good Course-Lousy Mgt
Course is enjoyable to play, always a test of skills. Counter mgt is terrible -1 person trying to answer phones & take incoming players. Have yet to be able to pay & get to the tee on time due to understaffing or slow skills people behind counter. Groups in front of me were irate! No excuse - hire the right people who are skilled in dealing with people quickly, friendly & knowledgeable about the check-in procedures.
Great course
This course is a great challenge and a lot of fun. This course has it all--great views, water, elevation changes and is well maintained. All of this is in moderation. Challenging enough keep you focused and make you think, but not so much so that your misses are in unfair spots. The only negative is having to pay the metropark fee in addition to your cost to play the course, but IMO its all worth it.
Great Course for the Money
It is a nice course close to Rochester. The Beer cart girl was on point with keeping the beers coming. Would come back.
Great track
Course is great. Worth the money all day! Just wish these hack idiots would replace divots and ball marks on the greens!
Love this course
This is my second time playing Stony Creek and it was just as good as I remembered it. This course does not disappoint in any facet..highly recommend it to golfers of all skill levels.
Good Day at Stoney
What a great deal off Golf Now. The course was in very good shape, greens surprisingly fast in some areas, which was good and not always Stoney like. This is always a great lay out, challenging yet playable. One of my favorite and with the deal we got ($21) we couldn't beat it.
Watch the hidden costs
It was interesting that we had to pay $7.00 to get into the park. We were told at the desk if you booked the deal through us you would get 4.00 back. Since you use Golf Now you get nothing back.
condition of course greatly improved
Played the course about a month ago and greens were poor - fairways were also very average and tee boxes were also in poor condition.
Vasily improved in all areas although some tee boxes were a little rough the greens have really come around - a little slow in pace but ...
Staff makes you stay to your assigned tee time. - but the price was right
What happened?
Over the past few years the course was starting to look really good. This year....not so good. Greens are in terrible condition...fairways are a little rough. Tough winter, but i've been on other courses that are in great condition.
stoney creek metro park
Took 4 hours to play. Thats grear. Greens where smooth. Specifically after the harsh winter.
Stoney Creek Golf Course
Course in great shape for early in the season. Wet, cart path only. Greens almost a good as in the Summer. Can't wait to play the course in better weather. Hard to find a better course for the $$..
nice course
I love this course and play it every year. Course conditions were average, considering the winter we had all courses have issues. I'm sure the course conditions will improve over the next few weeks.
Great value
The staff was friendly and welcoming. The course was in excellent shape for this late in the season.
The Golf Now price was a great value for this course.
slow play
they took away my cart on #10 made me ride with another golfer. teed off on 10 because 1 had mixed older players that were quite slow.
Challenging and beautiful course
Could not believe my eyes at how well this course was maintained considering it was .mid-November in Michigan. Super friendly staff. Will definitely play this one again.
In good condition
Fairways and greens in good shape for late October
Get back to nature.
I love this course for a few reasons. The course is challenging, beautiful scenery and there always seems to be a lot of wildlife to gaze upon. I played there Wed through GolfNow, I didn't have a park sticker so it cost me $5 to get into the park. If you already have a park sticker than you won't be charged this $5. Normally, if you pay regular rates (or Senior), if you show the ticket that you paid $5 to get into the park, they will take $4 off your golf rate. When I prepaid with GolfNow, they wouldn't do this reduction. Oh Well, it was still a pretty good deal. They just aerated a couple days ago, so the greens were not their best.
Don't know what the Golf Now deal was, but we paid the Senior Rate of $30.00 for 18 Holes and a cart. We gave them our entrance pass and thet knocked it down to $26.00 per player.
