great course for all types of golfers
Staff is great the course is good greens are good also wide fairways
Course is an ego booster if you need one.
This course has par 5's that are realistically par 4's. Perhaps one of the easiest courses around.
Tiny Greens, Great Service, Fun
I've been playing Wesburn for about 15 years or so and it's in the best condition now I've seen in that time. The course has undergone some renovations over the past 2-3 years which has lengthened a few holes and remodeled a few greens to improve drainage and it's helped greatly. The course only plays about 6,100 yards from the tips but it can be tricky as the greens are very small and the rough around the green was thick in spots. The greens rolled true which allowed my group as a whole to make many putts over 10 feet during the round. The staff is the friendliest I've encountered all year and makes you want to come back again. I will play the course again this season and would reccomend it to any level of golfer.
Best Bang for your Buck
decent little course, friendly staff, carts are good, greens roll well. for the $ you can't beat this course
Thank you for taking the time to comment. I hope you will update your experiences since we have improved so much since 2013
Short course, Very Fun to play.
Wesburn is a great older course which is over 100 years old but is still relavant with added length, The course still only plays about 6,100 yds but can be tougher if you miss the tiny greens which were in very good condtion. This isn't a course I would play every day but it's a great change of pace the staff is very friendly and we played as a twosome in under 3 hours on a weekday afternoon.
Short Course but Fun!
Short Par 4's, Course in Nice shape! Hilly course need to Ride!
This course has lots of history, it is the oldest course in Michigan
I love a country course and this is a gem. Really enjoyed this course very quite and peaceful.
Great for practice
Generally not busy during the week. Easily walkable, bunkers have some of the best sand downriver. Usually play alone here as it allows for me to play multiple shots
Friendly staff, great course for the money
Staff was friendly. Course was in good conditions, heavy rains in the preceding days left some standing water. Greens were in great shape. 15 is a bit of a gimmicky hole and the back nine is short but I enjoyed the round and will play again. The tee boxes lack markers showing yardage to the center of the green making Par 3's a little difficult without a rangefinder, all in all a great course.
Nothing special, but decent course.
First off, I will say that I have played this course several times and over the past year and a half it has improved greatly. It's a great course for beginners as there are not a lot of water Hazards Or sand traps. Short hitters will love the rolls that they get off their drives due to the hard ground. They can expect anywhere from an additional 20 to 25 yards depending on the hole. We have had a lot of rain recently which this course did not seem to handle very well. It seemed as though there was caution tape On just about every single hole blocking off some kind of muddy or flooded area. The greens were very firm which did make approach shots difficult to stick. Putting speeds did roll very decently, not too fast and not too slow. For those looking for a unique course, this really isn't it. Most of the holes are very plain, with the exception of two holes on the back nine: the 15th and the 18th. The 15th hole is possibly the shortest par four in the world at 174 yards from the middle tees. The reasoning for the par four status is due to a large tree blocking a straight shot off the tee, however a skilled golfer could easily play over the tree and landed on the green in one with a short iron. The 18th hole is a midsized Par four that is fairly straight away, but the green is raise about 30 to 35 feet above the fairway, which is uncommon for this course. Players may want to lay up and hit a mid iron as a longshot with the driver will land you at the base of the hill that the green sits atop giving you a blind lob shot with bunkers surrounding any shot that goes long. While I am discussing the back nine, it should be noted that several changes are being made to the back nine which is resulting in a lot of strange things in the playing area. For instance, on 16 there Is 2 greens. They lengthened the hole this year but have not yet got around to removing the original green. This can be confusing if you've never played the whole before as the green is clearly visible in two completely different spots. It also doesn't help that The sign on the Teebox still has the information for the first green. Overall this course is decent and for beginners it may be a lot of fun. A skilled golfer looking for a unique course may want to try elsewhere though.
