Great Course
Played last summer with friends...great layout, good greens and friendly staff.
Great value
Course is in good shape. Fun layout - all holes are unique interesting and challenging Great bar/restaurant and very friendly staff.
Great feel
Very nice gold course. Staff was great and even though there was development on the back 9 it didn't take away from the beauty of the course.
Nice course in the Traverse City Area
While on a week long golf getaway with my wife in northern michigan...we decided to try this course while in the Traverse City area, Our tee time was 11AM on a sunday(hot deal from golfnow...and applying a few 10 off vouchers...it was a deal at 19.00 each) and we were not quite sure what to expect for this area on a weekend as far a number of golfers. Since it was after labor day..this particular sunday was not jammed. The pleasant counter guy checked us in and said after a few groups took off we could go...this would be about 20min before our tee time...and so we did. We played 18 holes in about 3:40 minutes..GREAT for a weekend and we were pleasantly surprised. The course was is pretty good shape..in spite of the new home construction going on around several holes...Greens rolled true and were quick...a fair test of ones skills..... One pet peeve of mine is that. alot of golfers DO NOT repair their divots in the fairways or the ball marks on the greens..alot of courses including this one would be that much nicer if some golfers were a bit more courteous. There are some nice elevation changes on this course which my wife likes as much as I do...This course should be on anyones radar when visiting the Traverse City area as it will be on ours ...
Excellent Greens, Back 9 More Interesting than Front 9
Solid course that really shines after the turn. Played the tips and 11 is a beast of a hole. Only criticism is that the expansion of residential development seems aesthetically detrimental to some of the holes. But housing = $$$ and golf doesn't.
Great greens, and fairways
Lots of fun.. Lots of character. I really enjoyed playing this course. I would highly recommend this course for price and conditions.
Nice course
The course is well maintained. Staff was friendly. There is construction around the sides of the course making it a bit muddy but the course itself was dry.
First Time @ Crown
Made a teetime online prior to vakay, but arrived an hour early because we didn't know how long it would take us. "Pro" said if we'd hurry we could get out ahead of regular Sunday morning group of 16 players. We did & played the front in 1.5 hours! Course is beautiful, winding through the hills & woods. Everything was in great shape: greens, fairways, boxes, bunkers. Since we're from Missouri we were amazed that there were no cart paths & you can't even tell where carts have driven! When we got to 10 a 3-some had just teed off. We couldn't figure out why since there hadn't been anyone in front of us. They were very slow & wouldn't let us go thru. It was a beautiful day & we were having fun so we didn't press the issue. Finally when we got to #17 tee the ladies in the group were still teeing off & we could see that there were no golfers on 17 (par 5) or 18! The "gentleman" then hit his 2nd shot next to the ladies box. He duffed it & proceeded to drop another ball. I couldn't help myself & yelled "That's okay, there's no one waiting!" He then went into a cuss word laced tirade. He then hit his mulligan worse than the original shot & then used more cuss words toward us. We found out after the round that he was a "member" & had just "jumped" on #10.
Where have all the trees gone?
I can’t believe the three most beautiful holes have been decimated by what I assume is more condos.
Great Day
This is a charming course with a great layout. Greens were in great condition. Tee boxes and fairways were beautiful.
Crown Golf Club
Beautiful course in Northern Michigan, with rolling hills and elevated t boxes. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Our lunch after our round was delicious. I would highly recommend this course to anyone looking for great golfing experience and all around fun day.
Great scenery
Great course in a beautiful setting! Challenging terrain makes for an interesting round for all levels. The staff was very helpful and a sunny day made it all the better!
Great course near town
The Crown offers a wide variety of holes and some fantastic elevation changes. The greens are a pleasure to putt on and the course offers a good amount of challenge for experienced players. The back 9 is a lot of fun (it brings you to the top of some hills and has a lot of up and down). The views are spectacular as well. Add this track to your next Traverse City golf trip- it's a gem that sometimes gets overlooked!
Worthwhile corse
The greens and fairways are very nice, the rough needs to to fertilized and watered as it was brown and hard. Most of the holes the fairways are wide and leave you in great shape for the next shot. Plenty of chalange even for the big bombers, I'll be back.
