I am an amateur tournament player and I feel Glaciers is the best players course in Macomb County. I’ve never seen it so plush. Yes, the greens could have been Mowed better but it did rain just yesterday so I’ll give them a pass. Look forward to returning. The two starters I have come in contact with are excellent. Tim and Mike. A real plus. Get your round off to a good start!
Very nice course but the pace of play was a issue for me. This course is for groups of 3 or 4. I played solo and was stuck behind several groups of 4. If I didn’t leave early to be somewhere would’ve taken me 5+ hours to finish.
Slow play
They put us behind a outing! 6 hrs and we never finished. I would have thought they would have told us no golf today or we needed to wait a hour before tee off, but they had us and 6 other groups waiting at every tee box
great course near Orchards
not quite The Orchards but nice course nonetheless.. was behind a league that plays on Tues that were slow, we were waiting each hole.. I’ve played here multiple times and seems to be decent pace of play otherwise..
Greens and tee boxes
Green and tee boxes were in awful shape - disappointing for a nicer course and the cost
A players course
A players course. It is a challenging course… The best test in Macomb County that I am aware of. I’ve never seen it so plush. Greens could have been MoWe’d better
Overbooked and Felt Rushed
This was my first time playing at Glacier Club and it was overall a beautiful course. However I did feel like the course stacked foursomes on top of each other causing backups. And for one of the rangers to make a remark about speeding up the pace, I don’t feel that was any fault of the golfers but more whomever scheduled tee times. Space them out by another 10 minutes and it would have gone smoother in my opinion.
Friendly Staff, Tight Course, Bring Your A Game
Very nice and courteous staff, the course Starter and Rangers were nice. Pace it play was horrid, there was a weekend league or tournament going on unbeknownst to us. However this course overall will encourage slow play due to the challenge it presents to any golfer. Tees, fairways, and greens all in great shape, greens have lots of contouring and roll fast.
This is a planned community course, so almost every hole has homes on one or both sides of each hole, and if there aren't houses then there is water, unseachable rough, or OB making the course very tight and unforgiving; which encourages slow play by looking for or searching for errant shots. Each hole is it's own "entity" with a couple of exceptions.
Visually the course is beautiful and provides all of the technical challenge you'd expect from a Arthur Hills design . Most greens are elevated or mounded and if you miss them with approach you have a challenging up-and-down. However, this course will exploit each and every flaw in your game and eat you alive if you're not firing on all cylinders.
I came into the round playing my best golf of the year, but had one of those days where I couldn't drive consistently, and the course won. Had my highest score in over 5 years and lost a dozen balls...good thing I brought 13.
In my opinion Glacier is one of the toughest courses in the Detroit area because of its unforgiving layout, but its beautiful to look at and play.
Good Course but slow pace
I enjoy playing this course and have played it often in the past. This was a very slow round! At one point we saw the problem. A twosome a few groups ahead of ours was really taking their own sweet time! Too bad the Rangers don't do something about it! Would have been a nice round of golf if not for some people that have no consideration for others. If you like to play slow do us all a favor and stick to playing during the weekdays!
Rudest Pro Shop
awesome course and conditions. The employee in the club house was awful though. He complained about me paying with a credit card. How is that even a legitimate complain as a business?
Great course design.
This course is quite tight. The holes are all interesting. And there are plenty of risk reward opportunities. It’s also an incredible value.
