Pines Golf Course, The

About
The Pines Golf Club sits just a few minutes south of Grand Rapids in Wyoming. The 18-hole layout is routed through stands of mature trees. The terrain is mostly flat, which makes it a great golf course to walk, but there are a few subtle contours throughout that can be tricky. It's a straightforward course that is player friendly enough for even beginners to approach with confidence. There are a few slight doglegs but nothing too formidable. There is only one water hazard that comes into play, but it still manages to add a lot of character. The views spanning across Lake Isabella are almost enough of a reason to play the golf course. The Pines' 15th hole has an especially memorable view of the lake. Another benefit of the golf course is that it provides a more affordable round than other Mt. Pleasant-area courses.

What a day!
6:32am tee time on 4th of July to beat the heat and get in a quick 9 holes. What a perfect weather day, 78 degrees when we finished and this course has plenty of trees to find shade if needed.
Always love the back and forth layout here for a guy who sprays the ball off the tee, you always have a shot and a chance to get the ball back into play. Course has in great shape still even with all the heat we've had. Kudos to the superintendent and their team, greens were rolling true and for the other 3 players in my group, very fast.
You need to play here once or twice to figure out the layout of holes and aiming point of tee shots but once you get it figured out its fun to cut corners and aim for greens. Front is a bit easier and more wide open then the back and no water comes into play on the front. Can't wait to go back.
Great course for the money
Course was in great condition. This course suits beginner to intermediate players. Water only comes into play on two holes. Losing balls is not concerning here, which is great.
Confidence Builder
not terribly difficult but it'd build your confidence. courses in really nice shape.
Good Course - worth the money for sure !
Good Course - worth the money for sure !Took grandsons and was fun for them .
JYCBC
We like the course very much.
Don't know why we don't play more.
GOOD COURSE
Great
The only problem I have was I saw 3 or 4 groups tee off and each one hit 2 some hit 3 balls before they started down to get them
After work course
This course is a decent course in town. Weekday evenings are packed with leagues of hackers so the pace is terribly slow, expect to wait at almost every hole/shot. I don't even attempt to play here after work anymore. Not bad if you can get in 9 earlier in the day or even sometimes on the weekends. Very playable layout, not terribly challenging. Greens aren't the fastest or most undulating but are maintained relatively well. Staff is hit or miss, some guys are pretty laid back and others take their job way too seriously. Practice Range is below par, nothing special. I only play here if there's an awesome deal on golfnow, I'd never pay full price for this course all things considered.
Pass it up...
This was my second time playing here. The last time was about three years ago. Both times I played it because it was a good deal. Both times the pace of play was extremely slow. This isn't the type of course that should be played at 4.5 hours a round. It's very, very short and could be played in around 3 hours easily. The problem is the caliber of golfer it attracts. Because it's not a great course, it attracts very poor golfers. I won't pretend to be any count, but anyone who is a 10 hdcp or better should look elsewhere.
Pros: A few unique holes. Cons: Poorly manicured tee boxes, odd layout, slow pace of play, below average skill level cliental (lots of people wasting time looking for balls),
Good Value
The pines is a great course for a good value. It is well taken care of and the staff is very accommodating. If you are looking for your high end country club type course, this is not it. A working person's course with a good beverage selection and an excellent golf outing set up for the gang at work.
Such a nice course.
Not the most challenging but very nicely maintained. Surprisingly nice considering the dry hot weather thats been around the last few weeks. Definitely recommend to play. Greens are in great shape, as are the fairways and tee boxes. Gas carts are little old and noisy, could probably be upgraded, but they get the job done. Overall, I give it an B+.
Great greens and layout
Friendly professional clubhouse staff! The greens and fairways were in perfect shape. The course is slightly short but in terrific shape and has a nice layout especially the back nine!!!
Awesome day of golfing
This was a fabulous course. Greener then many I've seen here in west Michigan. Course was challenging, especially the greens. But all in all amazing value for the money. Will golf here again
Short but well maintained
Course was in good condition. I must have been on the same timing as the mowers And other maintenance guys. Old dudes playing in front of me took their time and didn't want me to play thru. Worth the $18
great course
well maintained moderate difficulty rolling hill were great challenge right in the heart of town . i would recommend this course to all. great time
Decent course, horrible experience
I booked a tee time here, because I found a cheap "hot deal" through golf now, and the weather had a chance to be bad that day, so I didn't want to spend a lot on a round. I didn't expect a 5 star resort course, but after my experience there I won't go back, even if it's cheap.
Everything started out fine, no problems with prepay or check in, and the course is a fun little course to play quick, and the scenery is nice. However, before long, I learned that the word "etiquette" has no meaning there. I'm no uptight jerk, but there's a line. Between people driving out into the middle of your fairway while you're swinging and just sitting there(multiple times, different people), people hollering loudly from 10 feet away while you're putting, guys urinating from the teeing areas, and the foursome who averaged about 30 minutes per hole, caused a 4 group log jam and refused to let anyone play through (to the point where 2 groups skipped holes to get ahead of them), people lingering around the greens for 5+ minutes after finishing up, there is a serious problem here. There are no marshalls, or anyone to keep play moving, just the guy in the clubhouse at the cash register. Add in the fact that i had to push my cart up the 12th hole because the transmission gave out(plus saw another cart getting pushed after breaking down), and it's safe to say I had a very poor experience.
The course itself was alright, save for the fact that several of the teeing grounds were uneven and totally mangled, finding your next tee was sometimes a confusing endeavor, and several greens/tees felt like they were right on top of each other. The lone person I encountered that worked there was pretty friendly and helpful.
I won't be going back to the pines anytime in the near future, if ever again. It's worth it to spend a few extra dollars to go somewhere else and have a better experience.
Did not receive reservation from GolfNow app
I arrived about 20 minutes before my tee time. I reserved the specific tee time the previous day and received confirmation. I went to check-in and the associates stated that I had no reservations. I provided confirmation of purchase from the GolfNow app. By that time, our tee time has passed and we ended up getting stuck in between about 12 other golfers. Pace of play was slow to say the least. No presence of employees other than in the clubhouse. I can golf better courses for less money and faster pace of play.
Great course for the money
For the price, this is my favorite course. The staff are all friendly and although this isn't a five-star course, they treat it as such. The course is extremely well kept. You can tell someone takes great pride in keeping this place up. The greens are great and it is an easy course to play.
This person's experience sounds eerily similar to mine in almost every respect. You get what you pay for I guess...
