About
Located in between Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor, Washtenaw Golf Club, founded in 1899, is one of the most historic clubs in the state of Michigan. The club was private for most of its history, but an ownership change in 2019 turned this venerable layout into one of the area’s best public experiences. The 18-hole course plays 6,512 yards from the championship tees, though there are four sets of tees The club is in the midst of a multi-year restoration and enhancement project, guided by architect Ray Hearn, that includes green enlargements, tree management, and in the installation of some new championship tees. Facilities here include a putting green, small driving range, chipping green, and a large clubhouse, grill and bar, patio and event space.

Nice but pricey
Last minute tee time for group of three left me with few options. We’d never played here before but I’d heard good things. A very nice course. Nice length, variety of holes, elevation changes, some water in play. Greens were in great shape and for the amount of rain we’d had recently, the course was in good shape. Very nice, but not sure it was $65-a-round nice.
Covid unsafe
I was paired with a duo not practicing social distancing. I wouldn’t recommend pairing random unknown people through this app because it causes a situation where the virus can spread. I don’t think that is the fault of the course, rather the apps programming.
Not really fair to the course to rate them based on the behavior of the golfers you were paired with.

This course is always in nice shape. If you are near and want a good choice then visit this course, you will not be disappointed.

1st round
first day of the year 2020 that the course was open,a huge bonus to play golf in Michigan 8th of march! Considering the time of the year it is,it was in decent shape, and it will be really nice when the season is in real bloom! Always a pleasant place to visit!

Great course
Excellent local course for the price, especially if you get a Hot Deal. Fun layout. The staff is very friendly. Given the affordable price, it can get pretty crowded. After a rain, the greens are like putting on glass.

Early Oct round
Started off rough with first tee time since carts were not available since staff left keys at home . Had to walk first four holes with out of country guest since it took employee 45 mins to go home and get keys! No backup plan? I’m sure when it was private there were always backup plans to take care of guest. Course tight but in good shape.
We apologize for the inconvenience of not having a cart for the first few holes. We do hope to make this up to you in the future and we hope you'll give us another shot.

Save your money
Started out bad when the driving range is for irons only. $10 for a small sandwich and $5 for a beer. $8 for range balls. Then on to the course. Most if the holes are down and back next to each other. Greens are difficult with some impossible pin placements and some very patchy. Tons of ball marks and bald spots. The group was unanimous we won't be back again.

Great... but
Great staff, nice course. All was great, except we made the turn in 95 minutes only to find the course put people off the back side in front of us and we ended up waiting on every shot, significantly slowing us down. Other than that, all was great

Nice old Classic BUT.............................
We played on a Friday noonish, we were harassed by an old curmudgeon member from the 1st tee until an eventual altercation on the 14th green. We were surrounded by 2 groups of former members (I assume) who are now seasonal members as the course IS open to the public. We are 4 single digit handicap players. The groups in front and back regularly did not finish holes or putt out on greens. The group behind us had 3 carts for 4 players. We played the front nine in 1:50 having never seen the course before (tricky greens and VERY tight off of the tee along with thick heavy rough). On th 14th hole the old timer hit into us just missing one of our group. The altercation started when he drove up to the green shouting wheres my F/"_*6 ball! Which we had taken and thrown into a hazard. It was obvious members of his group were familiar with his behavior and allowed it although he wasnt very well supported. The altercation was loud and aggressive. On the next hole the Dir. of Golf came out to stalk us on the 15th green, it was clear he too new the trouble maker. We then gave him our opinion of the group behind us behavior. Needless to say our back 9 was ruined. I went to proshop to ask for B9 raincheck Dir of Golf had left for day. We hit our 1st shot at 12:14 and were done with two lengthy stoppages due to confrontation at 4:10. Players like that man are VERY bad for business. I am a member at another club and would never behave like that toward guests. In addition the one member of our group was lucky to not be seriously injured when the horrible old timer hit a long shot over a hill missing him by inches. Loved the track waiting for our rainchecks, one seasonal membership is not worth having a jackwagon like that on your course.

Good layout. Rough shape
Have played here a lot. It has changed ownership a few times. It’s a classic old layout and when in good shape it’s a fun course with some good holes. But it was in rough shape. The tees were beat up. Greens were ok. Fairways were shaggy. No dirt on the carts. Just needs work and it can be good again but it needs work
