About
Located in between Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor, Washtenaw Golf Club, founded in 1899, is one of the most historic clubs in the state of Michigan. The club was private for most of its history, but an ownership change in 2019 turned this venerable layout into one of the area’s best public experiences. The 18-hole course plays 6,512 yards from the championship tees, though there are four sets of tees The club is in the midst of a multi-year restoration and enhancement project, guided by architect Ray Hearn, that includes green enlargements, tree management, and in the installation of some new championship tees. Facilities here include a putting green, small driving range, chipping green, and a large clubhouse, grill and bar, patio and event space.

Perfect experience
1st time playing and I promise it won’t be my last! Played on a Monday morning, and felt like I ran into grounds crew on almost every hole. That was the only bad, on to the good...Cart attendant pulled cart behind my vehicle before I even got out! I was a single and the pro shop attendant snuck me out early in front of a couple 4-somes. Best greens I’ve played in a long time. Fairways were in great shape. Rough was thick, lost 2 balls in rough just off the fairway, could be frustrating but a great test! I ran into a four some and let me pass right away, played 18 holes in under 3 hours. Wish I would have played more and stayed longer. All grounds crew, and personnel were top notch! Keep the ball straight in the fairway and you’re good, get a little sideways and you’ll slash out of thick rough, get real loose and you’ll have tree trouble.... Go see these guys and have fun! May be my new favorite in SE Michigan and it’s a good drive from Clarkston!

Very nice course - small greens & tight fairways
Been wanting to play this course for sometime. I live about 35 mins away and got a hot deal. Very good deal and well worth the money. I’d say it’s still worth the Reg Price of around $48. I will definitely play here again. Old style course. Small hilly greens, tight tree lined fairways, lots of sand, good elevation, and some water on 4-5 holes. Fairways were in A+ condition. Greens were also nice and rolled true. Pace of play was my only complaint. I was by myself and had a 4-some in front of me from about hole 7 on. Never let me pass thru. My the 18th hope there were 3 people waiting behind me. Playing no gimmes, measure every putt, look 3 times, practice twice, etc. I’m waiting on every shot and they see me and keep playing ahead. If your gonna play slow or for money, let people pass. Very simple. Other than that I’d say the rating is dead on. 4.2 out of 5.

Old school with Length
Only complaint is WHite tees tend to play a bit long yet Gold makes it less challenging.
Course is in great shape .and would play here more often if it wasn't a hour drive.
Great staff even makes GOLFNOW guest welcomed unlike some courses.

Great course, but would be challenging for a high handicapper
The course is in fantastic condition and plays difficult. Need to play there a few times in order to score well. Tree lined, several blind shots and fast, but true greens. Pace of play today was excellent, our three ball played 18 in 3.5 hours. Can’t wait to play there again. The two staff members that I spoke to were courteous and very friendly. I felt like I was playing at a nice country club!

Conditions Impeccable
Course is simply in perfect shape. Greens are fast and smooth and everything is in great condition. Pace was a bit slow today but somewhat expected as tee sheet was full and we played at 11:30AM. An early morning round at this gem of a course is golf happiness!!!

Challenging Course
It was the first time at the course. The staff was very friendly to start. The range was short, but fine for irons and warm up. The course itself was in great shape. The greens were small and fast and it offered plenty of challenge. I would go back for sure.

Best public course in the Ann Arbor-Ypsilanti area
Once a lavish members only club, the washtenaw golf club has since changed it’s availability to the public as well, while still maintaining that “club” feel. The banquet center and the locker rooms, the bar and dining, as well as the pool, give this course an upscale feel yet still posting green fees that cater to the average golfer. The course is one of the toughest I’ve played, every hole is narrow, with little to no space to work a drive and the greens are tight and small. The condition is always immaculate and some of the holes you have to stop and admire the beauty of before you tee off. The greens are smooth, fairways clear, and rough is kept. I’ve been playing this course for years, as I live in the neighborhood that runs parallel to the back 9; and as a kid growing up and riding my bike seeing all the golfers playing, I can imagine that’s where I got my interest in golf. Now that I’m grown up and can compete on a course of this stature, it’s almost as if I’ve come full circle. I have brought numerous friends and coworkers here to experience golf in the heart of a city like none other. If you haven’t had a chance to stop in at washtenaw golf club, I encourage you to do so. You will not be disappointed. As for the staff, you will not find a more caring, personal, and out going staff on a golf course. From the 16 year old mowing at 5am, to the general manager, you will absolutely feel welcome at the Washtenaw Golf Club.
