About
Located in between Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor, Washtenaw Golf Club, founded in 1899, is one of the most historic clubs in the state of Michigan. The club was private for most of its history, but an ownership change in 2019 turned this venerable layout into one of the area’s best public experiences. The 18-hole course plays 6,512 yards from the championship tees, though there are four sets of tees The club is in the midst of a multi-year restoration and enhancement project, guided by architect Ray Hearn, that includes green enlargements, tree management, and in the installation of some new championship tees. Facilities here include a putting green, small driving range, chipping green, and a large clubhouse, grill and bar, patio and event space.

Old school with Length
Only complaint is WHite tees tend to play a bit long yet Gold makes it less challenging.
Course is in great shape .and would play here more often if it wasn't a hour drive.
Great staff even makes GOLFNOW guest welcomed unlike some courses.

Great course, but would be challenging for a high handicapper
The course is in fantastic condition and plays difficult. Need to play there a few times in order to score well. Tree lined, several blind shots and fast, but true greens. Pace of play today was excellent, our three ball played 18 in 3.5 hours. Can’t wait to play there again. The two staff members that I spoke to were courteous and very friendly. I felt like I was playing at a nice country club!

Conditions Impeccable
Course is simply in perfect shape. Greens are fast and smooth and everything is in great condition. Pace was a bit slow today but somewhat expected as tee sheet was full and we played at 11:30AM. An early morning round at this gem of a course is golf happiness!!!

Challenging Course
It was the first time at the course. The staff was very friendly to start. The range was short, but fine for irons and warm up. The course itself was in great shape. The greens were small and fast and it offered plenty of challenge. I would go back for sure.

Best public course in the Ann Arbor-Ypsilanti area
Once a lavish members only club, the washtenaw golf club has since changed it’s availability to the public as well, while still maintaining that “club” feel. The banquet center and the locker rooms, the bar and dining, as well as the pool, give this course an upscale feel yet still posting green fees that cater to the average golfer. The course is one of the toughest I’ve played, every hole is narrow, with little to no space to work a drive and the greens are tight and small. The condition is always immaculate and some of the holes you have to stop and admire the beauty of before you tee off. The greens are smooth, fairways clear, and rough is kept. I’ve been playing this course for years, as I live in the neighborhood that runs parallel to the back 9; and as a kid growing up and riding my bike seeing all the golfers playing, I can imagine that’s where I got my interest in golf. Now that I’m grown up and can compete on a course of this stature, it’s almost as if I’ve come full circle. I have brought numerous friends and coworkers here to experience golf in the heart of a city like none other. If you haven’t had a chance to stop in at washtenaw golf club, I encourage you to do so. You will not be disappointed. As for the staff, you will not find a more caring, personal, and out going staff on a golf course. From the 16 year old mowing at 5am, to the general manager, you will absolutely feel welcome at the Washtenaw Golf Club.

Great course but unhappy with tee time
Unbeknownst to us originally, my foursome’s tee time was logjammed right in the middle of a large course-wide scramble/outing. As a result, we had a 5+ hour round which was incredibly frustrating. I’m not sure of how most courses handle this, but I would think that the course would simply be closed to all public tee times that would occur right in the thick of the outing. A ranger did apologize which I appreciated. Aside from this, the course was in great shape especially given heavy rains the night before. If the course did not have the same situation in sending out a public tee time amidst an outing, I’d absolutely play here again.
We apologize for the pace of play issue you experienced. We always try to keep a great pace when having our golfers on the course. Washtenaw
Course conditions are really good. Greens are firm yet hold. And they’re fast. This course test all of your game. If you spray it, you’re in for a long day. This is where I come to test where my game is at. If you can score well here you can score anywhere.

Great Course
Had a MOST ENJOYABLE round of golf...perfect weather & perfect course conditions. I have NEVER had an unenjoyable round of golf at Washtenaw. Started on the back nine & short delay at tee box before tee off, however, not intolerable. Front nine was definitely better pace & course attendant apologized for slower play stating a slow group was finishing.
Greens fast & true. Hard but we've noticed greens everywhere we've played were hard this season. Rarely used divot tool.
All & all a MOST enjoyable round & as always, looking forward to our next round as Washtenaw. Just a great course to play.

Beautiful layout
First time playing this course, was pleasantly surprised at the course conditions this early in the season. Had a fair amount of rainfall this week and course was pretty dry. Fairways and greens were exceptional, layout was very challenging and well worth the money. Scores were not as well as we would have liked, but had a great time. Will absolutely return to this course this summer.
