Super friendly staff - Fun Course !
Tagged an eagle on 18 otherwise bogey or double on every hole , fun challenging and Super friendly staff. Got on the course on time on an 80 degree day in March! Can’t beat that ! 53/48 from the whites there were some struggles for the first round of the year.
Good standard course
Nothing spectacular about this course. It’s a good all around course to play however the conditions of the turf have been so-so the last two years. They are clearly working to restore the course after last years drought conditions. Greens are very soft and fairways are very hard. Pace of play is good. The layout is very confusing and finding the next hole is not always the best marked. I had no clue where hole 10 is on the 9th green and many other holes had 2-3 t boxes right next to each other. 3/5 stars but would play again sometime.
Pleasant surprise !
My husband & I played here maybe 15 years ago. It was a bit rough then & my husband wouldn’t go back… until this year & it’s now one of our favorite courses ! Pleasant track & not many bunkers. Big greens & putting surfaces very nice. If you haven’t tried it in awhile, give it another try.
Terrible Tee boxes.
When are they ever going to grow grass on the tee boxes? They have been terrible for three years. The greens and fairways are always in good shape but the tee boxes are dirt.
First time at this course
The course layout is challenging if played from the back tees
Fairway and greens are in good condition, the only thing that can take this Houston the next level are
1- tee box can use a major upgrade
2-the cart path, you have to pay attention where the next hole is
3- club house , just your basics, nothing special, bring your own food
4- cart is gas, but it works,
Other than those 4 things the course is awesome.
Pine island
Course was challenging but tee boxes need work and better signs on where to go for the next hole. Greens and fairways were in great conditions but tee boxes were just terrible
Great course
The course was in very good condition considering our drought conditions.
Tee boxes and greens
Need work still. And still need to cut down some branches on some of the holes.
Ready for Play
The course is in good shape for late spring. Some repair areas that will hopefully be ready for summer.
3 holes were difficult or impossible to play.
The rains affected the flooding and as a result, 2 or 3 holes were difficult or impossible to play.
The young man at the desk did not warn us of this.
And, we were the 1st ones out, but there were 2 groups that jumped ahead of us by the 10th hole.
Did the office allow this, or were the golfers creative. It caused a backlog on the back 9.
I want to love this course...
The layout of this course is really fun, the staff is great and welcoming, the course seems like its fairly well taken care of, and overall I feel like I should love this course. That being said, I think twice was enough. The whole course is hard as a rock, so club distances with rollout were incredibly unpredictable (added 40 yards of roll out to my 7 IRON on two different holes). The greens were sooooooo slow and the grass was so long that it felt like the only place on the course I could get the ball to stick, but it made predictable putting impossible. On top of that there is not a lot of forgiveness for small misses. I lost more balls on this course than I care to count, and it wasn't even from horrible shots. There were a lot of places with steep drop-offs right next to the green or fairway where a slight miss spelled catastrophe. I landed two balls dead center on the green on 6 and lost both to the abyss behind it. A miss to the right of the green on 7 by mere inches results in a ball bounced well into the woods.
This course would be a great one to play regularly, because it would give you a chance to get to know what risks you can afford to take. I think top-tier golfers would also enjoy the challenge as a one-off, but as a casual player that has a bit of a drive to get there though, it really wasn't enjoyable.
