Easy course, great for a quick, inexpensive round
This is a fairly easy course that is great for a quick round that should not frustrate you. The fairways were dry but hittable and the greens were in good shape and fairly soft for as dry as the weather has been, so they are being maintained. The rough was very dry and hard, however. Not a spectacular course, but a great one to build some confidence and a great value.
Acceptable
This course is short and easy. Several bare spots in the fairways and the greens are slow and bounce a lot. It's the kind of course you take someone to teach them how to play.
Short...Lots of Trees
Riverside is only 5500 yeards longs which means numerous walkers, cut off jeans, and two ply golf balls.
However, do not be fooled, there are challenges. Lots of trees, some narrow fairways, and smallish greens. If you can hit it dead in the fairway, this course will play well but there is trouble on both sides most of the time. Water does come into play with one short hole, 260 yards, that has a lake right in front of it so you have to carry straight since there are trees on both sides.
This would not be my everyday course but for a change it is fun but only on a 15.00 GolfNow Hot Deal.
My 2nd time on the course
I was sufficiently pleased with the course in late fall 2012 to be anxious to return and play in 2013. I am still pleased with course. On Jun/14th there was a large mid-day gathering, including rounds of golf...it made the course congested, probably more than normal. Also, the individuals playing the course represented several levels of skill and understanding of the game.
Many of the players were loud, while in close proximity to tee boxes for other holes. How to assure speed of play was not well understood by many of the players on the course...they were not prepared for shots following a wait time...or...they spent long periods preparing shots. Very awkward for others of us on the course.
Poor condition
Course is usually pretty nice. But yesterday the course was mostly shut down because of flood damage. If i would have known that most of the course was shut down i would have never wasted my money.
This course is fine for practice
It's fine for practice but has unusual things like concrete water runoffs in middle of fairway
this is a good course for newly playing golfers
Wide fairways, medium sized greens, and not too long of a distance. On the eighteen hole course there are 5 par 3 and almost everyone of them has a tough green.
Great course!
Perfect for people working on their game, and the price is well worth the quality of the course. Going to start playing here once a month. Thanks Riverside.
Very friendly staff and eager to please.
In the past I have enjoyed playing this course as you can always get on without a tee time. However, the new carts are very, very, rough with a tight suspension making the ride very uncomfortable particularly for us seniour citizens. They are forcing me to think twice about playing it in the future.
for only $12 with cart as cheap as a large bucket
simple course, flat along river. few challanging holes, but narrowness helps. short but great for seniors and newbies.
Course is great for novice golfers
This course is relatively short and has numerous par threes. this makes it a great course for those who are just learning or those that want to work on some specific aspect of the game. Staff are always nice and friendly, and it is a great course for the price.
easy to play, great value, reasonable condition
Riverside is a flat course, so if you want to walk, it is a good choice. It is relatively short, good for older players losing length. Deceptively challenging because of narrowness of some fairways, large trees that come into play. Wind is an important factor because it makes the course play much harder. It would be nice to see senior tees on some long par fours which become par fives if your drives are not 2l0+.
Terrible service
Ignorant people running he show. Make you partner with others because it makes it easier for them to cram more people on the course. Older lady is a rude ignorant terrible employee and should be terminated. Will NEVER go back.
Poor customer service
This course is extremely convenient but they do not care at all about the customer. The older lady and gentleman that take the money are rude and inconsiderate and have no idea how to treat a customer. Don't bother to make a tee time either it is always first come first serve. You can make a tee time but they will still let anyone on the course beforehand so you end up waiting.
Friendly staff, decent greens, and at a great price.
Have been playing here for many years and the course condition has gotten a lot better this year. Fairways and tee boxes are still a little sparse, but the greens roll pretty decent and you can always play in under 4 hours. This is also one of the lesser difficult courses in the area so good for any level player.
Unfriendly and Rude Staff
In my 3 experiences at Riverside GC, I have enjoyed playing the course but have been disappointed by the attitude of the staff. Also, they are VERY STINGY ABOUT THEIR GOLF CARTS. On one occassion I called in advance to ask about rates with a cart. When I asked if carts were available the man responded, "Well that depends on what time you get here". I was confused by this comment. I was also reprimanded for bringing a cooler. On another occassion I was forced to ride with a complete stranger even after offering to pay for a cart serperately. Finally, the last occassion I was given a refund because I paid for a cart, waited for 30 minutes and one was still not available. There were NO apologies from the staff and the woman acted like it would be a privilege to play on such an amateur golf course. A lack of care and treating customers properly will likely lead to the downfall of a business. I decided to leave and never return based on these experiences.
