Great course
Great course
Would have been nice to drive to the ball..
Didn't see a reason to not be able to drive the carts on the fairway.
5 Stars all the way.
Some of the greens had been over seeded and were slow as noted by small signs on those green. What a nice thought by management. This over seeding is indicative of a management that is striving to keep their club top notch! Keep up the good work! 👏👏👏
Usually better. Still fun.
Play here often. Usually in better shape but past 6 weeks there’s been very noticeable issues that aren’t typical.
- over grown tees
- some pretty desperate looking fairway areas
- greens inconsistent - some carpet like slow (even before the recent over seeding)
- unusual number of cart path only holes
- Many bunkers with small rocks/pebbles or dried mud. Others oddly good. Weird.
Also, whoever has been cutting the holes recently is one sadistic SOB! There were 3 that were literally 1 step onto the green and 3 others right on the edge of the slope. That also impacts pace when you watch the group in front hit 12 putts once they get on the green. Two out of towners in the group actually asked if it was superintendent revenge day lol.
Beauty and Challenge
The course layout is challenging from all the tees. Especially for a golfer of average skill. Some beautiful views.
Tapawingo Golf
This is a challenging course, and it is in great condition. The staff is friendly. I love to play there.
Not Up To Standards For The Price Paid
For $77 on the weekend, you expect a course to be in excellent shape – but Tapawingo is not. Many, many issues with this course.
The fairways were a brown/yellow color. The zoysia grass loves the heat and should be green at this time of the year. Hole 5 Meramec, the fairway was rough on the right side of the landing area.
The bunkers were awful. Not raked. There were weeds in the bunkers on the Prairies holes 1 & 4. Totally unacceptable. I found large rocks in several bunkers. Prairies holes 2 & 4.
Numerous tee shots had excessive growth of vegetation in front of the box, that ruined the view of the hole. Prairies holes 3 & 8 and Meramec hole 2.
Unfair pin placements. Prairies hole 5. Back left. Pin less than 3 steps from the fringe. Hole 6. Pin placed one yard from ridge in the green.
The greens putted on the slow side. Hole 4 Meramec, the green was stressing in the back left and had weeds overtaking the bent grass.
There are better options at a lower cost that have better conditions. Spencer T. Olin, Annbriar, Golf Club of Wentzville – to name a few.
Issues
One of the nines had been errated and had a covering of fine sandlike material. Also the staff was out moving the hole placement ahead of us.
Disappointed
Used to be my favorite course in STL. Not in great shape and the greens have really gone downhill.
