Great place to go
had fun. course was in good shape. I was happy with the game. I would be glad to play there again.
Pleasantly surprised
This was my first time playing here, and I was very impressed!! Course was in good shape, had a few fairways that needed work but that is expected for a public course! Some holes had blind tee shots but that made it more fun! Overall had a great time and will definitely play here again!!
I hated the layout for this course
Just about every single Par 4 and the lone Par 5 had an elevated green and I mean comically ELEVATED. The Par 3 greens were a steep drop from the tee boxes. Really got old hole after hole facing from the tee box and the only thing you could see was the face of a large hill. You can't even see where you ball went, much less landed. You have to keep track of the group ahead of you so you don't hit into them. The groups ahead of us played at a turtle's pace. Very very slow. I played in a twosome and we played 18 in just a shade under 5 1/2 hours. That is painfully slow. All in all, I won't be playing here again. Too many other good courses in the area.
One of the best kept golf secrets in St. Louis
What a great course, well maintained, new electric carts; fairways, t-boxes sand greens all in great shape; the clubhouse is very nice, pleasant with lots of light pouring in; worth the drive, a fun outing all in all!
Great day
Staff doing a great job, course getting better every year. Gem for the City of Florissant! Now if only there was a driving range to hit a bucket before you play?
Bent grass greens the best I have ever played on
I was in St. Louis Mo on my birthday so we decided to celebrate on the golf course. This course was on our way out of St. Louis and the price was excellent. I called ahead and asked if my wife could ride with me and they oked it. They also moved my tee time up with a threesome of locals. The course is in excellent shape and the bent grass greens are the best I have ever played on. I am used to Bermuda greens and I struggles with reads and speed but the greens were not the reason. The three guys I was with were fun and knew the course and shared their knowledge. Overall it was an excellent day.
Old Florissant is in the best shape in AGES!
I grew up in North County and I have been playing 'Paddock' for over fifty years. It has seen good times and bad from lack of care to not enough money to correct issues. The course was one that many avoided due to an inordinate amount of blind shots and the overall difficulty of the course. But, today, this course has had a fantastic facelift that is a direct result of a caring ground crew staff and management!
The greens have always been top notch for the quality of the golf course, but, today...they are even superior to what I remember them to ever be! The bunkers have been suspect for years...with lack of sand..but, now those issues are being addressed and either some bunkers have been eliminated or are being reconditioned and they look and play great.
On a personal note, I took my grandson out with me to play. This was his second course he has played with me and not only does he love the game and course he wants to try out for his high school golf team.
I rate courses according to their difficulty and appearance:
A courses: The Bluffs, Annbriar, Winghaven, Eagle Bluffs, etc..
B Courses: Tapawingo, Spencer T Olin, Gateway National, Stonewolf, Far Oaks,
C Courses: Golf Club of Wentzville, Links at Dardenne, Lockhaven, The Quarry, Falls at Turtle Creek, Quail Creek, Forest Park,
D courses: most muni tracks...Eagle Springs, Emerald Greens, Normandie, Old Florissant, Creve Couer, Ballwin, Ruth Park, etc..
Of the courses in the D class: I would rate Normandie first, Old Florissant second, Emerald Greens third. Normandie is a classic course that still has teeth..though at times they have issues with their fairways...Florissant is a lot of bang for your buck..with three par fives on the back for those who like to grip it and rip it..this is for you. #if time permits..play number three from the original tees and as a par five..it was and is a BEAST#.
No way!
Stay away! This course used to be in pretty good shape. However, the tee boxes were a mixture of weeds and other native grasses. The fairways were decent on only about 30%. The greens were in pretty good shape. The sand bunkers were awful. It looks like the new management is Dave Casper golf. Conditions look like it belongs more to the old Raiders tight end because the course resembles the Black Hole. Save your $ and wait to see if the city invests the money needed to run a real golf course.
Good course with friendly staffers.
Played fairly easy with only few holes causing second thoughts about how to attack them.
Great Staff
Course was in good to great shape.
Staff was absalutly great! Fairways and greens were good shape. Liked the taller roughs. Not a lot water.
On top of it all weather was awesome!!
Narrow with some severe slopes
The course had tall grass between fairways making for accurate tee shots. Does not lend to quick play.
Adjust your pricing
I love this course, it's close to home. I used to play this course when I was younger, just called Paddock. Same course. I loved it then, love it now. Just seems like you can never really find a deal for the course. And their normal prices are a little to steep for my taste for the quality of the course.
a treasure in north county
Don't you left the yardage fool you. This course has lots of sand narrow fairways and many hills. I found it quite challenging. And none of the greens are flat.
Nice course, friendly staff
This course is moderately challenging and well maintained. The greens were in great condition especially for this late in the season (Dec).
