Driving blind
My biggest takeaway from playing this course is that the front 9 is almost exclusively holes where you have to drive over a hill. From a playing standpoint, this isn't such a big deal since every hole is straight as an arrow. However if the course is backed up, you are constantly having to walk halfway up the fairway to get confirmation that the group ahead of you has moved on before you can swing. It creates a lot of back and forth on a course that isn't particularly friendly to walking due to the large hills and paths that lead through residential neighborhoods. The back 9 still has a few blind holes but is much friendlier than the front.
It is not the fault of the course but the clientele that were directly in front of us were pretty disruptive. The ground was still soggy due to a recent thaw and they were not respecting the cart path rule. They left tire marks on every hole on the course. There could not have been more than a dozen people playing the entire course at the time but 3 different groups were all backed up at the same hole. They constantly drove back and forth down the middle of the fairway looking for balls they clearly hit into the treeline. Luckily they only played the front 9 but we were there for nearly 2.5 hours by the time we reached the turn. The back 9 took us about 90 minutes.
You can't control the groups around you but the constant blind fairways makes this course not very fun to play. However the cost was fairly low so you can do worse. Cart is all but required though so if you prefer to walk, look elsewhere.
November Golf
Courses was in great shape especially for the time of year. There was a foursome playing extremely slow.
This is truly an under-rated course. Great value for the money.
First of all, the staff is very friendly and accommodating. The course is in good shape with above average condition for tee boxes, fairways and greens. We always enjoy playing here...
Course Rating
My first time playing the course and I really enjoyed it. Not overly difficult, but it definitely presented some challenges. Several "blind" tee shots, but well marked with directional stakes. The price offered via Golf Now was hard to beat. Go give it a try!
Nice course and nice people
Enjoyed my early round today. Moved fast and great hospitality. Great layout including some interesting blind spots. Greens in great shape as well.
Hilly Heaven
First time at this course. The course is very hilly, so up hill or down hill lies. The grass is dying from summer heat, although they are keeping the greens and tee boxes watered. Challenging track and interesting layout. It's worth the trip.
One of the hidden gems
This is one of my top 3 courses in St. Louis, and I’ve played a lot of them. Up in north county, this is one of the hidden gems in St. Louis. The front 9 is shorter, but a bit tighter, while the back 9 is fairly open, but a lot longer, particularly 14-17. The course is always in great shape, especially the greens. Often times you can get a tee time for less than $20 on GolfNow, which is one of the better deals you will find. I also love that this course is rarely crowded, I usually can get 18 in, in 2-3 hours.
Great course and friendly staff!
We were there after some storms, so it was a little wet. But they let us so out with 6 in a scramble format, they were very accommodating! It was a hilly course with challenging blind fairways. Highly recommend!
Excellent for the money
First time playing and booked through GolfNow. Greens are in great shape and course is more challenging than most public courses in St. Louis. Will absolutely come back if GolfNow deals are still running.
Great Course
Course was in excellent condition. Tee'd off at noon and no one in front or behind us all day. Staff very friendly.
Great Round of golf
Course was in great shape fast greens manageable Roughs
Course has great contour.
If the Greens had not been aerated the course would’ve been perfect. Very challenging layout, better hit it where your aiming.
Excellent muni
Weather was warm for late January. High 50's. Somewhat windy. A rolling terrain, combined with this being our first visit, made getting around dicey. The locals were always ready to give pointers on how to play a hole. It was pretty busy for a Friday, mid-winter midwest. A good risk reward course.
A note on arriving: your carts are at the bottom of the drive up to the clubhouse. Grab one and drive up the steep drive.
Better then ever
Course was in great shape and has many improvements and holes redesigned. The greens were outstanding for a public course and fairways were full and smooth but just a little thin. Hard to find many faults for the price but some tee boxes could use a little leveling. Overall a great value. Course was full but pace of play was not an issue. +++++
