Florissant Golf Club

Second time playing this course, first time this year. Course has improved in the past 12 months. The tee boxes were in really good shape. Fairways were pretty good. Green had numerous pitch marks that were not repaired, but that's not the course's fault. I love the layout with elevation changes on nearly every hole. This is worth playing if you get a hot deal.

Was a great day to play golf had a good time. The only complaint would be that the tea boxes were in an atrocious state on some of the holes. But other than that, everything was well. Oh, and I wish they had a beer cart girl. Because that would make things a lot easier on a hot day.

Course condition continues to improve. It is a good look when you see maintenance workers on the course working to improve conditions.

As to layout, there are a lot of blind tee shots and we got hit into a few times by the group behind. A courtesy as well as a nod to safety would be drive up to crest of hill to make sure group in front is out of the way.

Walking 18 was incredible here. Rolling hills, uneven levels for challenging shot positions and fun green rolls. Fairways were wide and fun. This was a fun challenge, different than courses I have been playing.

At their practice green, they even provide a swing net for practice. Large practice green for lag putting and different slopes.

They do not have a driving range, rather it is a 200 yard “chipping range” where you can use your own balls.

I went on a Thursday with an 11:40am tee time and had no problems with pace of play, it was very nice!

We played on a very hot and humid late afternoon Monday, July 3. Pace of play was excellent. Under four hours. I played here every Sunday for a few years in the 80's. Never since. It was a blast from the past. Greens were very nice, slow-ish but pretty consistent. They were marred by dozens of unrepaired ball marks. C'mon golfers do better! Layout is unique to St. Louis with seven or eight blind tee shots - correct line is marked by large red and white poles in the fairway at the crest of the hills obstructing view of the greens. Some of the teeing grounds need work. Fairways are very short Bermuda that was hard underneath from our recent drought. Lots of roll sometimes from fairway into perils. Lots of elevation change and slopes. Bunkers need attention. Some/most were unplayable. Continuous cart paths were generally in good condition. Overall, a very fun experience and great value!

Greens are fine. Tee boxes are a travesty. Fairways are average at best.

Great time, the staff was great, the greens were in great shape.

The Good:

- Staff and workers all friendly and respectful

- Pace of play was great; other groups allowing faster to play through

- Green conditions

- Variety of holes and different shots required

The Improving:

- Tees are all being aerated

- Sand is packed with sitting water in a few

- Several fairways are spotty

- Lots of clover & flowers in the rough

It’s obvious the maintenance people are doing a great job. On a warm dry day, course maintenance was out testing soil moisture levels on the greens. That shows they are really paying attention to details.

Glad to see the continuing efforts to maintain and improve this course. I always play here when I come for a visit to my hometown.

On every hole, its so elevated from t to gree making it fun to play. Most fairways are not so wide as to challenge your play, and not too narrow to drive you crazy. The greens in the front 9 are in better condition than the back 9, the speed of the greens varies. The fairways are dry. People there are very friendly.

Course was in fine shape, nothing glaring. Pace of play was atrocious. 6 hour rounds and it wasn’t even a full tee sheet

I've played played this course many times going back to its start as Paddock Country Club. It's a good sporty course that's fun to play but not going to beat you up with punitive cross hazards. Conditions are a bit dry and the greens seem hard

Beautiful tract of land and good layout. It has enough elevation change and blind shots to keep you on your toes while navigating some of the narrowest fairways found anywhere. Fairways are nice zoysia grass but the rough from which I played often is a tall mixture of everything. It has rained often recently so I figure they are usually cut somewhat lower. This was my opening round in St Lois area. I usually break 80 on most tracts by hitting the appropriate clubs on each length of hole; however, I think it would be tough on this tract . Basically, only the very best ball strikers will score well here. Many folks I figure just bomb driver throw down another ball and enjoy the beauty of the place. Almost forgot to mention that the par threes are all top notch . I bet this nice tract would be an awesome money maker with greatly reduced rough in that it would be fun for ever skill level. Greens were plenty good and fast with fair undulation. Also super nice folks in clubhouse.

The grass has grown in on the fairways and conditions are much improved. Greens had been punched about a week ago but had smoothed out nicely
