Wolcott Mill Metropark Golf Course

The course was well groomed for the time of year, being fall many other courses are draped with leaves, but not Wolcott MIll their fairways were very clean of debris.

Wolcott Mill is a very straight-forward course. There are no surprises and not too much variation from hole to hole. The layout is pretty standard and there is little water. It is pretty quiet and peaceful as it's tucked off of the main road and borders some farms. Nice view especially in the fall. Not a stand out course but it's good course overall if you can get a deal.

I like this course because it's close to home and relatively cheap. I have never had an issue getting a tee time. It's fairly straight forward which I appreciate because I am new to golf. I have played about a half dozen courses this summer and this one is probably the slowest to come back after rain. Lots of puddles and it's possible to lose balls even in fairways due to water build up even after a couple days post rain storms. There are a couple greens that are a mess due to aeration currently but they did have something posted in the club house to note that.

The course reminded me of the times before watered fairways. As long as you got it off the tee it would roll and roll and roll. The greens were in great shape however.

Found a good deal for this course ($13 for 18) so I decided to try it out. I figured it would be a fun, but average course to play since it was so cheap. Wolcott Mill exceeded my expectations. The course was fairly well-maintained and was much more tricky than I expected. The fairways are pretty wide open on most holes so errant drives, like mine, are not necessarily killing your round. Fun layout and great course for under $20, but the hot dogs we bought at the turn looked two days old and shriveled up.

First time playing this course. We found it easy as there were no hidden t- boxes. Would certainly play again. Great weather and steady pace of play made it fun.

Based on course conditions and value for the money, I would definitely play this course again.

time on golfnow an the course wasn't closed. So
we played on & off in the rain for over 5 hours.I'm
not sure we'll golf their again.

Not up to our Metro Park (let alone other comparably priced course) standards. We've played this before, but the rough was never 5" high. The bossy starter even admitted the course was in rough shape and that they were going to bring in crew from other courses. Clubhouse guy was rude when we arrived early. Starter paired us up even though there were 6 twosomes ahead of us.

Early in the Michigan golf season and the course was in pretty good condition. The rough was a little bit too long so it was difficult to find your golf ball. It had rained a lot so I think they were having delays in cutting the grass.

Don't waste your time driving to this course. Hands down, the worst course in the area. No rangers to be found, pace of play crazy slow and to top it off, the rough was ridiculously long. Clumps of grass in fairways made it almost impossible to find your ball. Maybe it's better in July or August, but it will be for others to decide. I'll never play it again.

Course had been wet the previous week, but should've been mowed for holiday wknd but was in a horrible state! I played this course in the 70's and wet or dry it was in terrific condition. I played a league at this course for 8 yrs. and never once seen it so unplayable! fairways had in places 6-8 inches of grass, not the rough!! I'll never go back! In closing I have to admit the greens were superb.

Rough was extremely thick and long. Any ball that left fairway was very hard to find. Every group that I seen spent a lot of time looking for ,balls. I would estimate that time spent looking for balls added at
least an hour to total time. Greens were ok based on the winter we had. Fairways were not so good. Traps
were also not so good.
Note--to make matters worse using Golf Now cost me over $7. The course had a senior special that day for $20. It was only $27 for non=seniors.
With the service charge my friend and I spent $27 and change. We are both seniors. I am rethinking my using of Golf Now in the future.

The course was to wet. The grass was long due to all the rain.

The directions to getting to the course using golf now took me 2 miles farther north Ann's out of my way. After calling the course for directions it was about 4 miles of travel to make it to the course The people at the course said they have tried to correct that with golf now many times.

Metro parks should of closed the course till they could get on the course when it drys out !!! The fairways , greens, and ruffs haven't been cut in awhile due to the rain. It wasn't worth $25.00 with the 10th hole completely shut down and no snack bar like they had a couple of years ago.The course was nice at one time but you can tell by all the weeds and Dandelions on the fairways that the place is not being taken care of in the correct manner.

Not bad for the price / glorified driving range in my opinion / everything pretty straight and short.

I booked 18 holes at a bargain price for myself, and once I played two holes, there was a single player ahead of me. He did chose not to let me join him. Them there was a single player behind me. He kept his distance behind me. It seems that a player assistant could have seen this and had us combine for a threesome. When I made the turn for number 10, I teed off, picked up my ball and left. The group in front of me was very pokey, which was evident on 11. A group of ladies allowed me to play through at the turn, but it just wasn't worth the wait. I hadn;t played the course since the summer of 2010, and it IS making continued improvement under the care of the HCMA.
