2nd, par-3, 203 yards. The longest and most difficult par-3 on the course. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/25/2022

You’ll need a solidly struck iron to find the fourth green in regulation. Par-3, 152. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/25/2022

The par-4 fifth, which plays uphill at 303 yards, is as tough as nails for a short hole. Fives and sixes are likely far more common here than scores of three. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/25/2022

The sixth may not be a long hole, but it is the #5 index. The views are compensation, though, for any woes you may experience. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/25/2022

Loudon’s fourteenth is a drive and pitch hole of 386, where most golfers will choose to lay up before the large pond. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 07/25/2022

Greens were in beautiful shape
Fun course. There are a lot of right leaning fairways so since I slice the ball a lot I lost a few balls to the woods!
Gradual improvement over the years
Have played on and off for years. Old course was designed by a logger with hard, crowned fairways that shunted good drives to wood chips off the edges. Gradually fairways more level with real grass and real rough. Even added a few traps! Still some limitations due to the original design. Blind greens, odd shapes, many impossible to hold without a perfect approach shot.
Today a pleasant 3 hour walking round. Tee boxes decent. Fairways generally good. Greens well maintained and rolled true.
Awesome
The day was beautiful! Only second time out in 7 mo and I scored a 69. First time. Course was in great shape!
Great Course, friendly staff!
Showed up and had some breakfast sandwiches and coffee before our tee time. Course was well maintained and staff was really friendly. Highly recommend.
Loudon
Great value and the course is in great shape. Quick pace. Great and friendly staff.
Great Course!
Great course, with varying difficulties at every hole. Friendly staff and easy in and out.
Wonderful - just like last summer
My golf partner and I played this course several times last summer. It was great to get out there again. The course is perfect for our level of play and the price is reasonable.
Open again...!!
After the lengthy, involuntary closure per Governor's order, the course has reopened with strict state guidelines in place however, the maintenence folks have done an outstanding job on the course during closure! The entire course is in immaculate condition right now! A few changes during the closure including some grounds work around hole 2 and an addition of a bunker to right of green on hole 8. Overall, no complaints whatsoever! All greens are in fantastic condition and each tee box is clearly marked!
The staff is still just as friendly & down to earth as they've always been! The clubhouse & pro shop are closed per the state orders however, the restaurant (hopefully) will be able to start serving meals again on the 18th to outdoor, socially distance, limited seating. This is something to look forward to as the food at Loudon is awesome & always cooked to order!
No driving range or putting green right now (per state order) but they both appear to be in fantastic condition! An FYI... No rakes on bunkers, no garbage cans on course, no water coolers on course, and no ball washers right now (also per state order) but you can bring water with you (not alcohol!) and there is a beverage cart on course. Please folks, don't throw out trash onto course... take it with you to cart return where there are trash cans! I picked up trash apathetic people had thrown onto course yesterday! Course looks great so be glad we're allowed to finally play and keep course in the excellent condition it's in and clean up after yourselves!
All things considered (state restrictions) Loudon is an awesome place to play a round on a course that's in fantastic condition and I'm thankful to be playing once again!!
Playing between rain drops.
We played 6 holes before the rain. Sat for awhile then finished up 7 8 and 9. We had a great time. We knew rainwas coming so no complaints. Played here before will play again.
Loudon is great!
This course is awesome in so many ways! Where to start... It's family owned & owners are on site daily. They are great people & always eager to help one out whatever the issue/question may be! Owners are down to earth & treat people in a very friendly manner including remembering your name. Not treated so stand offish like at a large corp. owned course.
Now for the course itself... Was kept in excellent condition all season long! The ponds are frozen now so it's possible to get a good bounce off pond & onto green on hole 6. During summer, very lush, green, lots of forest lined fairways, & flower gardens in some areas. The course is a par 72 & both sides pretty equal on difficulty. Is a challenging course for a beginner but don't get discouraged... it seems to get easier the more you play. There are some really good golfers who play here regularly and still have a handicap albeit quite low. During foliage season the course was really pretty with the changing oaks, birch, & maples mixed among the pines! Lots of bright orange, yellows, & reds! The greens were in fantastic shape all year... very fast! This course is a bit hilly w/lots of course challenges (bunkers, ponds, etc...) but not to point of one needing to be an expert to play! Give it a go... you won't regret playing this fantastic course!
The off course ammenities are great too! There is a nice driving range, a putting green, a chipping area, a pro shop, & Out Of Bounds restaurant/bar. Excellent food... all homemade & cooked to order! Must try the whole belly clams (awesome!) & the fresh homemade daily meatballs & marinara! The drink prices are reasonable. There is an outdoor deck open during summer to sit outside. Right now the course is snow covered but golf is still possible at Loudon via the indoor simulator with several course choices. It rents by the hour & making a reservation is almost necessary as it books up! Also, one can play pool in the pro shop during winter. There is a large fireplace which is used in pro shop so it has a mountain lodge type feel to it. The staff are a great bunch of folks... always friendly & kind. So one can go to play at Loudon year round. It is by far my favorite place to play & I do quite often but for a 1st time guest at Loudon, you will have a great day of golf & undoubtedly a good time! Try it out, you won't regret it & will probably return because it's such an all around great course!
Loudon Country Club: Fall Foliage
Just to clarify, I did not play a round of golf here. I am posting these pictures, though, with the permission of both the head golf pro at Loudon and Mr. Tucker at Golf Advisor. The fall foliage on the course was spectacular. I was driving by the course (seeing it by chance, while on an errand) and was inspired to take a look with the thought of playing it next summer with my son.
The pictures I took were of about six holes, and, as it happened, I ran into a foursome on tee 11. We chatted, and they mentioned how much they loved playing here, also saying that it ranked "16th [among] public courses in New England" This was actually a reference to the rating Loudon received in 2017 from GA. The five-star rating I put in here, then, is on their behalf. I did note that the conditions here were first-rate; the greens and fairways looked immaculate. I will be back to play the course next summer, when I'm in New Hampshire again.
Great all around course
This is a good course on which to lose golf balls, but that's a good thing. It means lots of variety. Love the water hazard challenge at the 14 hole. Tried to drive three balls over the hazard. Accomplished zero. Next year. Greens were top notch today.
Great time
The course was very scenic and quite challenging! Staff was excellent. Looking forward to playing it again now that we know better where to place our shots.
Great day
It was a foggy start to the day, but another great day at the Loudon links, always a good time there.
Just a wonderful course
We have a great day of golf when we head for Loudon.
Great greens
Course is so well maintained Particularly after the dry summer we had the fairways and greens are in excellent condition
This review is confusing and contradictory... Which is it... as "great pricing" seems like you like it while "wouldn't play again" gives impression you didn't like it... Also, "hard to believe ranked 16 in the state"... Why...?? There is no explanation for this statement... Just confusing... Please elaborate...??
We appreciate the review. You rated us 3-stars which means there is room to improve on your recent experience at Loudon Country Club. Thanks for the feedback. We hope to see you again soon!
