1st: Scenery and golf course vie for the starring role at Waukewan. This first green, blind from the fairway, has a hidden bunker behind it. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2020
-
6th: A tight par-5. Here we look back—across the pond--at the ribbon of fairway where the tee shot lands, for those who prefer to stay dry and out of the woods. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2020
-
7th: A masterful 3-par, viewed from right flank. This bunker is out of view from the tee, along with another trap on the green’s opposite side. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2020
-
8th: From behind green. Perhaps one of the most elegant and scenic par-5’s in all of New Hampshire. It’s also tough. This view faces the tee, which is a long way down the immense hill. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2020
-
16th: Another strong hole over a stretch of seven on the back side. Uphill, long par-3 to a perched green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2020
-
18th: View behind/left of hole. Pond must be traversed on either 1st or 2nd shot of 4-par: a risk/reward decision. New England scenery, including clubhouse, forms a pleasant backdrop. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/22/2020

Best shape ever!
The course is in terrific shape and the greens are rolling well. Definitely worth the trip!
Not worth the money
They just "feed the machine" here, groups stacked on top of each other, no course marshals. Grounds crew still working late in the morning. Noisy, snails pace of play, close to a 3 hour front 9, forced to quit before making the turn.
So many better courses in NH.
Greens
Are in great shape! Overall course is fine! Good value.
Course needs drinking water on the course.
Course needs drinking water on the course. Aside from that no complaints.
I agree with Jim59, the course needs drinking water coolers and on busy days, a course Ranger to speed up play and educate the newbies on etiquette.
H2O
There was not a drop of water provided by the course except two vending machines in which you had to buy water. What happens if you don't have change and it was over 90 degrees there last Monday. No thanks to Waukewan I will never play there again.
Short, interesting, not in greatest shape.
Course is worth playing if you understand up front that it is extremely short. The 5,800 yards on the card is about 500 yards overstated. Greens were inconsistent - some soft, some fairly hard, some fairly smooth and grass covered, some blotchy and bumpy. It's worth a play if you're in the area and enjoy an interesting challenge. If you're expecting a typical smooth greened, manicured challenge then it may be best to keep looking.
Hi MillerOurdoors,
We at Waukewan would like to thank you for taking the time to enjoy our course. Your comments regarding our greens were somewhat accurate as we had just aerated them prior to your arrival, and the summer heat has stressed them to their max this year, but they have recovered nicely since your visit. We are interested in learning how you measured our course as the NH Golf Association rated our course this season and all distances from tee to green as well as yardage marker to green checked out perfectly. If you would kindly let us know how you came up with 5300 yards from the tips, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.
Fun track
Course greatly improved in the past year. Drainage greatly improved...dryer fairways.. Staff courteous and helpful. Unfortunately, greens had just been plugged and sanded...so no fun to play . I wish Last Minute Golf had informed me of this and I could have chosen a different club to play today.
I agree. I played it a couple of days after you did and greens were pretty bad after plugging and sanding. Had to hammer the ball to get it to go.
Short, but local knowledge helps, due to blind shots and sloping fairways
We were lucky to be paired with members who played the first 9 holes.
Lots of blind shots, fairways that slope one way or another, several holes with greens that slope from front to back.
Pace of play was good, played in a very unhurried pace of 4 hours.
Hole # 5 is a very narrow, 190 yard sharp (90 degree) dogleg left par 4 which requires a tee shot between 90-100 yards. It really should be a par 3, by removing a large tree on the left side of the fairway, or moving all tees so the hole can be played from the forward (ladies) tee location.
Other than that one, most of the holes could be sussed out using a sky caddie. A driver is not needed for most of the holes due to the short length of the course.
scenery and we'll maintained
Degree of difficulty is high but every fairway, green, and tee was in great shape.
Fantastic Mountain Views
We booked it for 18 holes. My GPS got brain dead as we got close , we had to call the pro shop for directions AGAIN! This happened before I should have known. We were late. We were able to play 9 holes before a shotgun tournament started. They were very accommodating and gave us a rain check. I told them we might not be back til nxt year after Nascar races. They said no problem. My daughter really likes this course it is very kid friendly. The views are to die for. Absolutely fabulous. We definitely will play here again! !!
A Beautiful Day
The course is always in good shape. There are yardage markers in all of he fairways, despite what another reviewer had mentioned there wasn't. The greens are slow but hold true on approach shots. The staff and pro are very friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this course.
Waukewan
Multiple blind shots with no course or tee box markings. Had to guess where to hit tee and second shots. Definitely need course guidance book.
Hidden Gem
Great value for money. Helpful staff at this off the beaten path track golf course. Greens were excellent and firm with one exception (13th). Fairways were very sloped but in very good shape. Layout is good with a little confusion re location of the tee box.
NH Golf
pleasant round, pace of play slow, beautiful scenery, challenging slope
Shouldn't even be open yet
Very poor greens conditions. A 3some was ahead of me with dog (if you can imagine). Ball marks not fixed on poor greens. Slow play, no tee markers or directionals to direct you to next tee . No signs out yet to show you what hole was or looked like. I had to go back in pro shop to ask where 1st tee was. I looked at score card and noticed no diagram of the course. I had to go back in and inquire. They then gave me a separate card with course layout and told me to "keep it in case I ever came back". After a disappointing 9 holes I actually had to go back in pro shop to ask what direction hole 10 was! I was told ONLY then that only the 9 holes were opened. I headed back to first tee only to find 3 kids (ten to twelve year olds) waiting to tee off. I left and would not ever think of returning.
Sir (redman53), We at Waukewan would like to extend our apologies to you for the fact that you did not seem to enjoy your round at our course. We do remember your visit well, and can explain a couple of the situations you encountered as follows:
Very poor greens conditions
"Most golfers playing at Waukewan have and still are reporting that we have the best greens starting off in the area, though we believe there is always room for improvement."
A 3some was ahead of me with dog (if you can imagine).
"One of our patrons is vision impaired and this dog provides assistance to his master during their time on the course."
Ball marks not fixed on poor greens.
"We try to educate our members and guests in the proper etiquette in repairing greens, and our maintenance crews work to repair the marks that the golfers do not."
No tee markers or directionals to direct you to next tee. No signs out yet to show you what hole was or looked like. I had to go back in pro shop to ask where 1st tee was. I looked at score card and noticed no diagram of the course. I had to go back in and inquire. They then gave me a separate card with course layout and told me to "keep it in case I ever came back".
"Tee markers were out, but our signs were being reconditioned and had not returned from the Blackstone Regional Technical High School for display at that time. The High School was excited to have a real world project to work on, and we at Waukewan support that excitement. The signs came out mint."
"The three 'kids', along with countless other 'kids' play this course regularly and all 'kids' playing unsupervised at this course have been taught proper golf etiquette, including pace of play, and we at Waukewan support youth golf."
With these explanations in mind, we at Waukewan are hopeful that you will visit with us in the future and walk onto the course with an open mind regarding any of our patrons with disabilities, and/or any golfers that are not of majority age.
The Managers and Staff at Waukewan.
Mid-November, but...
Lots of renovation and winterizing activity underway, which they let us know about before round. Overall very playable particularly for a very late season round.
Course is going to be great
Lovely plan and challenging course. The weather was rainy and it is the end of the season. But we had great time overall. The staff was very nice. There was work going into the 14th hole, but I can see that it will make the course better next year. Greens were in excellent condition. Narrow fairways.
A favorite Play
We pre-paid for 18 holes, but only played 9 because heavy rain & thunder moved in. But, people were very nice and gave us a rain check for the other 9-holes for another day this season. Many courses would not do that. Course is in good shape, greens were a challenge because of pin placement. But, that's what makes golf fun!
well worth the money! course is challenging and fun . I've been there many times and i'll be there many more times,
Last Day at Waukewan
This was my last day at Waukewan after playing the course several times this summer and fall. Every time I've played the course I've had no complaints and the staff has always been accommodating and friendly.
Fun golf
Well kept golf course with reasonable challenge for intermediate golfers.
Casual play , friendly staff.
Mr. Stevens, we at Waukewan Golf Club would like to extend our apologies for your pace of play at the course on 7/7. It can be busy during holiday weeks here at Waukewan as the word is out about our improving conditions and our grounds crews can be found on the course from 5am to well into the afternoon. That being said, we do not ever "feed the machine" and all our times are booked utilizing Golf Now's tee sheet system, and each tee time is a standard 9 minutes apart. Unfortunately we cannot control our customer's pace of play and hope that you will visit us in the future. If you feel you were wronged in any way, please feel free to contact our club professional to request a complementary round.
